^tenc is still open but its becoming like an american preppy clothing store. they got some jil sander etc but a bit stale. few selections on the good stuff.
tangs is awesome. they got some h by hudson there, surprisingly.
ive never been to that MUSA place, avenue k always seems barren.

7ate9

materiel is quite decent, i like the design in general.
tenc somehow sells american-eagle like clothes but theres also jil sander stuff (mind you the popped collar look only recently came to malaysia...)
starhill gallery is across from pavilion and its real posh, good expensive foodcourt at the basement
theres gonna be a place called fahrenheit 88 or something across from pavilion as well and has uniqlo, but dont know when theyre gonna open for sure.
in terms of nightlife, theres a row of bars at changkat bukit bintang about 10 mins south of pavilion walking. theres also 7ate9 restaurant and bar behind klcc below ascott residence. luna bar at pan global is right below the kl tower, must go to that rooftop bar (has a pool). skybar is at the top of traders hotel across from klcc, must go to.
in terms of places to visit, ive only been to some of those places even though currently live here so cant say much

First post....here's my advice.
DO go to hollywood blvd. Why? It's Hollywood Blvd. Duh. Yeah there are a lot of tourists and shops with Hollywood tees but it'll give you a good idea of the blvd. When do you go? At night. Go have a bite at Skooby's Hotdogs. After that, slide over into Boardner's (the bar, not the bookstore Borders') for a drink. It's a small/hidden place but you'll meet some cool locals there. Then head on down to the trendy clubs all within walking distance where you can find some young hipster girls to prey upon. Beauty Bar, Tokio, over in that area you will find a few more little clubs and bars. They're all lame but it's a fun time.
You can also walk on down to Amoeba Music. Huge music store, gotta go.
I disagree about going downtown. I personally think Little Tokyo sucks, it's super small and the japanese is actually awful. I ate at some joint there once and both me and my girl left the food was so bad. Ended up almost dying. No joke. Instead go over to R23 for some bomb sushi and bomb atmosphere. Also trendy but worth it for the out-of-towner is going to the rooftop bar at The Standard in downtown. Find you a hot chick that is staying at the hotel, buy her some drinks and stay there for the night - plus the people who work at the restaurant poor some seriously strong drinks. Great brunch as well.
As far as shopping - just head over to Melrose or Robison. Or both.
The beaches are overrated and filthy.
The best thing to do is to grab in LA Weekly and find a good concert to go see. El Rey, Henry Fonda, Knitting Factory, Roxy, HOB, a lot of smaller clubs - you're sure to find something you'll like.
Want a good burger? Molly's burgers in Hollywood.
LA does kind of suck but if you're coming from out of town you got to enjoy yourself.
eww dont go to hollywood blvd.
yes to amoeba, R23, the standard, and concerts
la sucks if youre only visiting for a bit, which is why if you visit youd need to tag with someone who lives there and show you the real deal of la.

^that list has lots of stuff you can eat all over la but since i dont eat mexican food, that list has less value to me ;/

depends on which airport you coming in from (if youre coming from LCCT, fastest and cheapest to take the regular bus which costs RM8-9/USD2.5 it takes an hour to get to the city)
from KLIA airport, you can take the express rail (around RM30-40, taxi RM50-60, im not sure if theres a fast bus service though)
yea try the luna bar and the sky bar at traders hotel across from klcc. should go there around sunset. theres also this reggae bar in china town which has ridiculous cheap drinks.
in terms of food, theres some great places to eat. even the food court at malls are quite decent.
nightlife: changkat bukit bintang is happening on weekends. theres also zouk and jalan p ramlee.
lemme know when youll arrive in kl i might be able to show you around if im avail.
if you like islamic architecture and taking photos, theres this administration city in between the airport and KL called putrajaya. its quite a decent place to take photos.

im having the greatest muthafuckin time in hk at the moment. i dont know what exactly to do in hk for new years yet but you guys got good recommendations?
0 -
HK is pretty much like anywhere else for new years, shitty. Organise something with your mates and book ahead of time to ensure you'll get in, don't expect to have a good time just winging it in LKF or something (well, not until your wasted enough) cos its fucking crowded and even the shitty joints will charge you cover. the mtr/kcr run all night though.
i'm gutted i can't go back for the winter break this year, missed out last year as well
so what would be the good places to get in for nye?

anyone in perth wanna hang? im here till next sunday morn and have a whole week bumming around. might go to this bar republic later tonight.

yup since i mved bck last year, ive been to only three shows, and alone at all of them (jens lekman, battles, ratatat). it's kinda mindblowing cuz i used to go to 3 shows a week on average before malaysia.

oh haha i forgot to say. im looking for something along the line of "indie" (god, i hate saying that word, it's so vague it doesnt mean a thing).
i dunno, some place that plays cut copy, phoenix, ratatat, the rapture, hot chip, crystal castles, mstrkrft, little boots, stuff like that.
