  1. Ok. I want to help my sister to find a good boyfriend jeans.

Instead of posting a question in small que. thread, I'll post here because most women will reach here.

Do any of you girls/guys know good quality boyfriend jeans? I've been searching and only found premium brands with not-so-good quality

    Thanks in advance,

    Cheers : )

denimformytummy- I'm 5'5", true waist 26.5, short legs. My favorite pair of jeans that have a "boyfriend fit" are the cheap STF 501s (guys' jeans) - I have a pair of 30x30s with about 8 months of wear on them and they fit really well - slightly loose but not sloppy. I have a pair of LVC 55 repros as well, but I like the cheap, modern STF fit better because they're not as tight in the thigh. If your sister has slim thighs or longer legs, though, I would look into the (men's) LVC stuff as well. Hope that helped.

  2. I bought this pair of black stretch, but I'm wondering why the red tab on the back doesn't say LEVI's with the ® on the edge, it just has two ®s on the front and back of the tab.

What's the deal with that, is it normal?

Yeah, it's normal. I think I read somewhere that Levi's does that tag for every 100th pair of jeans made, I believe, as a sort of control method. Anyway, they've copyrighted the red tab with or without the text on it.

  3. Did I get the pair that I wanted? I'm pretty sure it's one-wash denim or something. Because along with it came a little tag that said to wash it as little as possible to preserve the dark dye. And to dry clean if needed. The jeans themselves are pretty dark and some of the indigo has bled onto one of my white t shirts. So is my pair legit?

Yeah, they're legit. Levi's came out with a new waistband tag design fairly recently, that's all. They also updated the leather-like patches on some models to look more like leather and less like paper.
  4. Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it.

I've got some guy denim, namely a pair of 511 Levi's, Slim Kim's which barely pass as masculine, and some red label Kr3w jeans that fit surprisingly well and comfortably. I'm willing to drop some cash as long as the fit and fades end up good, you know?

And another question... what's the smallest size on 501 STFs? I've tried googling... but to no avail.

Smallest size I've seen in men's STF 501, at least in the US, is 28x30. They made (possibly still make?) a version of the 501 for women, and the smallest size would probably be a 24, but I haven't seen any STF 501s for women.

  5. I'm gonna go on a whim and ask a supernoob question...

Any STF that girls can wear?

for sure - I'm about six months into 501 STFs (they were only $15 on sale so I figured...why not, they're my first pair). The fit is baggier than most of what you'll see here only because I got a 30x30 and they stretched out a lot. 28x32 would've been better and still baggy. (True waist is about a 26, I wear them low.) Also if you're willing to spend more check out the unsanforized denim at BiG... guy's stuff, but depending on how you want it to fit, it can work.

  6. Hi, I have a few technical questions that I hope someone can answer. I searched but couldn't find anything.

    1. Is there a way to see or feel the difference between sanforized and unsanforized raw denim if there is no tag/label that indicates anything?

    2. From what I understand, all jeans start off raw and dark and are then stonewashed/acid washed/bleached etc to achieve a desired lighter wash. The industry standard is 12 dips in indigo to dye the threads, I believe, so wouldn't it be more cost effective to do a smaller number of dips and achieve a lighter tone without having to go through the washing process?

    3. Can anyone recommend any brands of jeans like the slubby PBJs within a similar or lower price point? I've been lurking here for a while and haven't really seen any really slubby denim with the nice blue cast like PBJs have.

    Thanks in advance.
