  2. i just got a pair of red wing boots and i want them darker. i was thinking of applying oil, but i'm not sure which kind. i've read that neatsfoot oil works well, but i'm not sure how effective it is because i think i have to keep applying and applying it. i read about a jacket some time ago that said it was darkened by applying oil and then rubbing it with newspaper. anyone ever heard of/tried this? 'cause i was thinking about rubbing the neatsfoot oil on the boots, rubbing it with newspaper while they're wet, then leaving them out in the sun...

  3. i know this was answered before, but i can't find the post. what's the difference between the 2008 1901's and the 2009/"new collection" a la cultizm 1901's? or if someone knows the post, can you give me the link. thanks.

  4. Hi, I'm selling two pairs of raw LVC denim. They're new without tags. I have never worn them, but I need the cash right now. I'd like $170 for the 1901 pair and $150 for the 1933 pair, but will trade for RRL stuff - mostly interested in westerns. The 1901 pair was bought from cultizm, but is the 07/08 pair. The 1933 pair is from Japan - not sure of the year. Both pairs are 32x36. PM me if interested. Located in NYC until August then I move to LA for those who want to arrange meet ups.

  5. i have a pair of LVC 1920 201's that i haven't really worn in. but these were one of the first jeans i started on. when i first got them, i cold soaked them for 10 minutes, but then realized i desperately needed to shrink them so the next day, i gave them a hot soak. now they're really soft and i'm not really sure if i can get what i want out of them. i was thinking about spray starching the inside of the jeans and ironing it (i think that's what they do for shirts so i figure it will work with jeans too) then starting over with new creases and all that.

    here's what i have now:

i want them to eventually look like these (in terms of the fading and dirt and all that)

even with the two consecutive soaks, is it still possible to get to this? and is starching the jeans necessary for it?

  6. i like the way APC's start out. they're really stiff and you have to break them in. i believe because they're sanforized...? anyway, i want my lvc's to be like these but they start off fitting way too loosely and i don't feel there's enough starch to break them in like APC's. to achieve this, should i take a new pair of lvc's, put them in a tub full of hot water and starch, and then wear them in until they dry?

  7. i have a pair of "1873xx first blue jeans" and have been wearing them on and off for about five months now. there's really no fading or anything. there are some creases which could lead to some honeycombs i suppose. i didn't soak them or anything like that. i just bought them and started wearing them. admittedly, they are a bit baggy.

    1. should i give them a soak right now to shrink them or continue wearing them?

    2. if i should soak them, what temperature water should i use and for how long should i soak them?

i'm just reading a couple threads and it says levi's lose indigo rather quickly which hinders the quality of the fades and honeycombs. if anyone here has this pair or a pair like these jeans, please give me a walkthrough on what you did because a lot of posts don't exactly give a clear explanation of the exact methods.

  8. Shoulda known you'd be there first!

Check out features like the watch-pocket detailing. I can't think of anything, except the Warehouse Duckdiggers, quite as cool as this in the last few years...

does anyone know how these fit?

  9. soak to get the shrinking out of the way then wear if your afraid of shifting combs.

there should be plenty of indigo to not worry about fading

i cold soaked my lvc 1920 201's today and for 10 minutes, but since they're so anti-fit, i think i should've hot soaked them like the contestants in the samurai contest. i want to avoid washing them too much, but do you think i can hot soak them tomorrow and still get really vintage looking jeans? and if i can, how long should i leave them in?

also, if i have raw denim that already fits pre-soak, should i soak them or wear them in first?

  10. are you supposed to wear jeans first and then wash them, or wash them first and then wear them? maybe not wash, but at least a soak. i remember reading somewhere that if you wear them first and then wash/soak them, due to shrinking, the honeycombs shift so they look funny.

but at the same time, i've heard if you don't wash them first, they won't fade as well or as fast or something like that. for the samurai denim competition, i think the contestants soaked them first.. any input for what's best?

  11. Got my email too. Hide is most definitely back. Having used 4 or so Proxy services, i find Hide to be the best by far. And just when i was starting to save up some loots....

have you tried fromjapan? if so, how does this one compare? particularly in terms of pricing..

  12. I bought the Knappaves a while back @ Cinch. I'm glad I tried them on before buying as they are anti-fit++. I'm around a 32 waist/34 leg but I bought them in a 32/32. So far, I've only given them a quick cold soak and they are still pretty loose. In my opinion, there is no way I would size-up on these jeans - certainly not on the waist anyway.

    Hope this helps.

how much did the inseam shrink? thanks for the help man.
