  1. what specifically are you looking for in austin?

    what you like to do?

what sort of food you like?

    6th street is no good

Basically, looking for good places to drink, dine, shop, admire, photograph or just hang out...

Not really picky with food. Reccomendations for any kind of dining are appreciated.

  2. anyone know if the lens on the yashica t is of the same, or at least comporable, quality as the yashica t4? got one recently for cheap but haven't had a chance to mess with it and curious.

Those shots were from a Yashica t4, but a lot of the stuff on my site was shot with a contax g2 and a canon a2 in addition to the t4...

and Dino, do you have a contax t2?? I want one so bad!

  3. oh no, what I meant was $15,000 is the max I can spend. I want to just buy something cash. Why pay finance charges if I don't have to, you know?

So yeah, those cars although nice are a little too rich for me at the moment.

$15000 is an awesome down payment... you could lease a brand new Infiniti G37S for like 200/month (60 mos). Or a bunch of other cars that was just the first that came to mind.

    New Nissan

I don't know I guess what I'm saying is you could get something pretty sweet for a minimal payment.

  4. Not my idea - read it from Cormac McCarthy a few issues of Vanity Fair ago - but I thought it was pretty good:

Pasta, plain. Just boil the spaghetti in water, put some salt in there, once it's al dente, serve and eat.

this works I actually kind of prefer this to eating with meatsauce. I like a little butter in mine though, and I eat it with crackers.

  5. Monterrey Jack Chicken

    ingredients:

    chicken breasts

    monterrey cheese

    avacado

    instructions:

cook chicken breasts, seasoning only with salt and pepper.

    Put on microwave safe plate.

Place thin slices of avacado directly on top of chicken and monterrey jack cheese on top of avacado.

microwave only long enough to have cheese melt a little.

serve with whatever you like, i prefer lightly seasoned white rice.

  6. From everything I've read and been told by friends who work in the auto industry, Honda, Toyota, and to a slightly lesser extent Nissan make the most efficient, reliable cars. The Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla both seem like excellent choices; they are dependable, stylish enough, get good gas mileage, and have enough room for you to cart some of your stupid friends around.

    Good luck, friend!

Thanks man! And yeah, that's what I need someone with insight. I might very well end up going the Civic route.

    tls are nice lookin cars

    but heavy fwd torque steer:(

but who cares, who u racin anyway..

how bout a cadillac and throw some d's on it

    depends on wut u like..

fuck im sure u can kopp a 300c/charger used?

    just yellin options..

Actually D's are sounding pretty good right about now. fUcK pRuDenCe!

But seriously thanks for the suggestions, keep em coming.

  7. I've been saving hard and have about 15 grand to spend on a new car. It has been close to a decade since I go car shopping and at that time I had very different goals: I wanted a pussy magnet essentially.

    Now I have practical considerations...

Gas mileage is a priority as is dependability. If I can manage, however, to get something fun to drive as well that would be great.

Also I should note, 15 grand is what I can spend and still have enough so that I don't have to work my first year of grad school, which has been my main goal of saving money, but if I can manage to spend less than that then that's even better.

Am I making the matter much more difficult than it needs to be? Is some 4 cylinder Honda the obvious answer?

I realize sufu isn't the best place for this query, but I am curious as to what fellow sufu'ers would buy if in my shoes.

  8. Last couple of days:

    Pineapple express

    Get Smart

    American Teen

    Man on Wire

    Slumdog Millionaire

    Boy A

    Religulous

    The visitor

    Tropic Thunder

    Let the right one in

    Burn after reading

    Forgetting Sarah Marshall

I loved Man on Wire. That was the best film I've seen in a long time. I also enjoyed The Visitor. How'd you like Slumdog Millionaire? Got a hold of a copy but haven't gotten around to watching it.

I recently watched The Wrestler, which was great.

Also, Revolutionary road, which was goodish and Seven Pounds which totally sucked.
