  1. Steve Fields in Plano? My sister was a hostess there for a year or so, never tried it though I live 2 blocks away.

Ya Steel is the shit. Good drinks there too, didn't mention that last time.

I've also eaten at Craft in the W once, it wasn't bad, I just hate the scene at the W. It's rediculous the way people dress here. Going out = stupid haircut, graphic tee from ed hardy or metro park, horribly fake faded bootcut jeans, ugly pointy square toe mark nason boots or something. and they all think they are hot shit. The food at Craft was pretty good though, and most of those people are at the bar at the W or Ghost Bar up top.

Yeah the one in Plano. While on that train of thought do you guys have suggestions for steakhouses?

I've tried a few like 3 Forks, Lawry's, and a few others. I read in GQ that Ft. Worth has 1 of the top 5 steakhouses in the world. Anyone ever heard of it?

Craft has always been on my list of places to go but the type of people at the W just make me depressed.

  2. If you're willing to drop the cash, I think most people are going to say the W in Victory Plaza. If not there are tons of really nice hotels all around the Mockingbird/Northpark area, Uptown area, etc. Intercontinental is another place I like a lot, their Sunday brunch is amazing.

    Sushi - Steel

expensive, but best I've had here in Dallas, great entree's as well

Wow. I can't believe Steel is considered to be good enough for people on sufu to mention it. It's my roommate's girlfriend's dad's restaurant. I still haven't gone even though she has told me to come multiple times. I guess I'll be taking her up on her offer now.

Any reviews about Steve Fields? I've driven past it a million times but never found myself going. I always end up at 3 Forks or something similar instead.

  3. if you like sushi, hit up Chaucer's in addison as well. but yeah, stop by adikt it's a pretty chill store, usually always have a sale [or you can haggle with the guys ;)]

I've been to Chaucer's a few times, definitely on my list of places to go by when I'm in the area.

taco diner isn't bad but the best tacos I've ever had ever are $1.25 / taco at

    La Parrillada

    7260 Gaston Ave, Dallas - (214) 327-5513

Lakewood neighborhood, almost in the bad neighborhood. East of 75 on mockingbird, turn right on skillman, go a couple of lights, left on richmond, left on gaston, go down half a mile or so. it's on your right across from the Y.

they are a full service restraunt with decent margarita's real cheap, but they serve $1.25 tacos out of the window on the front all day. I couldn't reccomend this place more.

They play loud ass live latin jazz every saturday night if thats your thing

I'd say 80% of the people eating here are actually Mexican if that means anything.

There's a cool thai place off of greenville if you're into that. sushi isn't bad, but not the best, awesome Pad kee mow. wednesday night they have half price happy hour after 10pm . you can get drunk and eat for like $10 place is called Nandina

    http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=nandina+restaurant&near=Dallas,+TX&fb=1&view=text&latlng=32813387,-96771655,3587229843293898818

There's a great Mediterranean place in North Dallas/Addison that is really reasonable..kind of a date place though It's called Canary Cafe.

    http://www.canarycafeaddison.com/

One of the only places I'd go to Addison for, though I've not been to Chaucer's as he recomended, it's a block away from this place.

Now if you're looking to spend alot of money on food, I can recommend plenty of places, any kind of food.

What brings you to Dallas and what area are you staying in?

If Mexican people are eating there, it must be good. La Parrillada sounds like the tacos by school, in terms of music, crowd, food, price, etc. I'm always craving tacos and could never find anything beyond Urban Taco.

Nandina sounds interesting. I thought I didn't like Thai food until I had it recently and actually liked it a lot. I've tried Zenna and Banana Leaf but neither really wow'ed me.

Canary Cafe also sounds really interesting. I don't think I've ever had Meditterranean food before. Can you give me an idea of what to expect?

I've had people recommend 4510 a lot of times but I checked it out online and it just seemed way too geared towards women. I'm afraid of going there and not finding anything.

Say I want to spend about $100-$200 dollars for a meal for two, where should I go? Trader Vic's is one of my favorite places to eat at Mockingbird. Besides that and Nobu, I'm pretty much at a loss.

I come to Dallas to see my parents mostly, and if not to see them to hang out/eat delicious food/shop since it's hard to find good places to eat or shop at school. I stay in the Richardson area, thank god for Tollway.

  4. I've been super spoiled in the taco department since I've been eating them out of a RV trailer. They're so authentic and delicious. Is it real tacos?

The only sushi place I know for sure is decent-good/cheapish is Sushi Sake in Richardson. Have you gone there before? If so how do you compare the other places to it?

I lived in Dallas during my high school years but didn't really venture around so now that I'm away because of school I need places to have fun at when I do make time to go back.

  5. I'm not really particular about what kind of ethnic food it is, I'm just looking for good places. Price range wise, I'm thinking under $20 a meal if possible but if you have suggestions for nicer meals by all means share.

Northpark is the only mall that I seem to visit, it seems that it has just about everything a mall can offer. I also frequent the Centre at Mockingbird as well. I haven't heard or been to Adikt yet, I'll definitely check it out.

Any places in Uptown worth visiting? The couple of times I've been there (a while ago) there wasn't much that caught my eye.

  6. pats cheesesteaks dont miss it! jims is good too

I definitely second Pat's (and Jim's) there is also Geno's (Across the street from Pat's) for good cheesesteaks. Those three places are probably the best cheesesteaks in the area, my favorite being Pat's. Geno's feels a little too tourist-y, probably the decour.
