  1. really glad to have found this thread, i'm moving to new orleans pretty much right after i graduate in may and have never been there.

any tips on good places to look for an apartment? i have heard that the garden district is pretty nice and to stay away from the french quarter since noise, parking might be an issue. coming from seattle a lot of the newer loft style offerings in the warehouse district look pretty nice too.

  2. didn't even notice that trunk strip, and I think the wheels are nice actually (and that's because it's fairly obvious they're drop-forged RAYS-made jobs), but there's just no discipline in that car's design whatsoever. A lot of the lines are kinda confused looking and if not, they've lifted something off an already existing performance car - the rear bumper wants to be an M3 rear bumper, the tails kind of remind me of a GM part for some reason, it's not going to go down in the ages as a great looking car. I know it's fast as fuck probably, but yeah.

can't say i disagree with you, i don't think it's the best looking car on the road either. however, for my needs/requirements for a car (new, awd, fast, stick, semi-reasonably priced, reliable, fun to drive) it met all the requirements without forcing me to go way out of my price range. i almost went with a 2011 a4 but would've ended up spending more if i had even breathed on the options list. couldn't look at a 335i as base is still about 8k more than what i paid. ended up getting 2% below invoice on the sti and really couldn't see spending more money for the a4 when my insurance would have been higher (i was surprised but all my quotes were about 800 dollars more per year) and i'd have 100 less horsepower.

for my first new car i'm extremely pleased with it. in 8-10 years, when i've got bmw money, i'll start looking for an m3 (my personal favorite). until then, this will suit me just fine.

  3. has anyone had any success with any mail order mj services? i have heard of a few here and there across the internet but obviously with something like this it'd be nice to have someone vouch for one before i send a bunch of cash off somewhere. i only ask because i'll be moving to a new city in the fall and won't really know anyone. the two that i have heard good things of are pot by post and jay's joints.

  4. I'm currently wearing a pair of Nudie Big Bengt's in a size 36. I'm looking to get a new pair of jeans, perferrably in some higher quality denim. Does anyone know of a brand that makes a similar cut to this? I'm mainly looking for it to be big enough in the thighs (I do not have the sufu body type) while still being pretty slim/tapered through the lower leg and leg opening. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

  5. No questions here.

I have several friends who go to Iowa, & I've visted more times than I can count. The town really isn't bad at all, especially for being in this state. Drinking is a big past-time of mine, but I've found lots of other stuff to entertain myself with. Red Poppy & The Picador are great. Have you been to the Chait Gallery? I might be working there over the summer/next year.

My major is art history (with a museum studies certificate) and French. I plan on transfering, though. I actually went to the Iowa Young Writers' Studio a couple summers back, which is a high skool version of the graduate's program. Good stuff.

i havent been to the chait, from what i've heard/seen, the town is much more art and creativity oriented in the summer than it is when school is in session, when it's a college town and has everything that goes along with that (aka drinking). i visited once while school was in session and once over the summer for orientation and there was a gallery walk and a bunch of other cool stuff going on. the school sponsored art museum is actually pretty dope, and the art building is by far the coolest building on campus, for what it's worth, but i'm sure you knew all that.

from my experience, the bars are really a positive your first couple months, and then if you care at all about school, you go out 1-3 nights a week instead of 6 and things settle down. it's nice to have them there when you want to go out and not have to depend on a frat party or whatever. there is usually something going down, even if it is just playing hoops or whatever. there's also suprisingly good music that comes through that town, i've seen girl talk, wilco, and a few other bands (ghengis tron!) and the misson creek festival looks pretty good too.

overall i have no complaints about my school and would highly recommend it to anyone. you aren't gonna get the big city culture but i came from seattle so its kind of nice to live in a smaller town and go back to a bigger one when i get bored.

  6. I was rejected from the University of Chicago,

but I've decided I didn't want to go there anyways.

Almost applied to Columbia College Chicago, but I hear it has really easy, high skool-level coursework.

Got into the University of Iowa.

I don't mind Iowa City, but I know I'll grow sick of it in six months.

Applying to the Ecole du Louvre in a year or two.

what are you thinking of majoring in? im a creative writing major at iowa, and if that is what you are into, there's really no where else that's better to go. the town itself is decent as long as you have some stuff to do other than drink.

if you have any questions about the school shoot me a pm, i'd be happy to talk to you.

  7. I think when/if this is completed, it should be put in some kind of high profile art museum. I don't see why not...Superfuture is probably one of the most relevant encapsulations of modern youth culture in the world.

i got to school with 30,000 kids who represent modern youth culture. i think there are like 2 of us on sufu. as much as i wish i could say superfuture represented the common person, the views and tastes of this message board constitute a small niche of youth culture, at best. but that's what makes this place unique, and that's why we keep coming back.

  8. does anyone have any suggestions for raw and/or selvedge denim that comes in larger waist sizes and isn't super wide in the leg/leg opening? i am currently wearing a pair of iron heart 634s and they're great except i had to get the tapered which was kind of a shame because i think it changed the fit a fair amount.

i've had some success with evisu heritage jeans as well. If anyone has any suggestion's that'd be dope. thanks.

  9. what do you guys think about khaki pleated short shorts cuffed up, with sockless sperrys ala nautical style

i think it looks dope. i usually go really preppy in the spring and then retire the lightweight sweaters and blazers for summer and just wear rolled up khakis with an oxford or a polo. the sperry bahama is going to get a lot of play from me this spring tho. vans + boat shoe = sick.

  10. But who are you and why do we care about your work?

    -'_________________________'

i'm no one, just a college kid that likes to write and wants to contribute to something like this. i self published a book last year and i think i've got some talent.

i generally enjoy the overall aesthetics and sensibilities of most of superfuture (as varied as they are) and as such would enjoy being a part of something like this.

but if i'm not big time enough, or don't have enough e-fame to make the cut, i'll understand.
