  1. So in search of a nice salty/aquatic fragrance I tried CDG's Play again... and it still smells like melted crayons and soap.

Does anyone know of a good perfume reminiscent of the beach? I looked at the reviews of CB's "Mr. Hulot's Holiday" on luckyscent and it looked like the perfect remedy to my search but I don't want to spend $50+ to find out.

  2. I've been using Kyoto for about a month now and I'm very happy with it. At first it had sharp wood notes - similar to Sequoia - and what seemed like green tea/coffee, but as it settled into my skin the whole scent blended together to make a rich and friendly smell on my skin. very comforting

I'd like to try something that has the same comfort level as Kyoto, but take the scent in a new direction, anyone suggest anything?

  3. I just got this new black denim jacket and it looks awesome to say the least... only thing is that it's a tad bit too big on me -- the only way I can make it work on me is if I wear a hoodie underneath it. I was pondering using some shrinking methods I looked up on SuFu but they all seem a bit risky; I really like the non-faded black color on the jacket right now and the starch gives it the nice aesthetic but I'm willing to give up some of these features for a more fitted look, any suggestions?

    Thanks :)

  4. I just found a shop nearby that sells CDG... seriously rare around here.

The Guerilla series are just too plain complicated in a bad way. They smell like a woman wearing multiple disgusting perfumes and thinking she smells luxurious.

Play was alright, although I didn't try it on the skin from the bottle it smelt like crayons and bitter candy.

2 White was way too floral (definitely evoked a "white" feeling) for my taste but I could understand how somebody could like it.

I think Kyoto is going to be the one for me, I'm seriously into this one. It's like Sequoia but without the "old lady's clothing" smell you get sometimes out of it. Gimme whats your opinion on Kiehl's Original Musk Oil?

  5. i think i am gonna pick up skai or dry clean from cdg, so cheap and i don't think i gave them a fair "smell" on them before, they are really nice! and so is soda, but it smells way more common imo

Yeah I think I will try Skai again; when I first smelt it disturbing images of the movie "8 MM" came up in my head (weirrdddd) but the drydown was amazingly good. I don't know maybe I'll buy a bottle.

  6. Got a sample of the new YSL L'homme yesterday while passing through a store.

Anyone have some thoughts on it? Still not sure how I feel about it.

I am however looking for some decent mainstream scents to maybe pick up while on post-holiday sales around town, not sure what I'm looking for though. I've liked Armani Code in the past and some of the other Armani's.

    Cheers

L'Homme smells like an old woman's handbag, very powdery, I have the same thoughts with Dior Homme. Everytime I smell Allure Sport I think of my uncle... it seems as if everybody has it.

Though if you like L'Homme you should check out Dior Homme.

  7. I think I focused on too much of a single note and didn't really get it at the scent as a whole. Feminine was definitely the wrong word for itt; first impressions don't really get the best of me.

But I put on the remainder of the sample on and it really has grown on me, the incense was probably what threw me off the first time I put it on.

  8. I just got the sample of Sequoia in today and it smells awesome and nostalgic to a degree. Straight out of the bottle it smells like a hard alcoholic drink (rum?) but when applied I get somewhat strong incense'ish smells with light wood undertones. The incense reminds me of going to the incence shops in my old neighborhood but mixed with the light rum and wood notes it brings me back to winter trips to the mountains. Not attractive in the cliche way, but in its own way; something I could wear day to day. Definitely gives you a red aura when wearing it.

Although it is a nice scent, it may be a little feminine for me. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore the subtlety of it and I would definitely wear it but I'm looking for a warmer scent... don't know how to explain it. Like when I'm smelling Sequoia something spikes my senses, you know? I'll probably try a few more perfumes, but if they don't work out I'll be sure to get a bottle of Sequoia.

  9. I was joking gimmegimme. I love red series and Sequoia especially, but it's too good for someone who's into burberry

    Hmm, hipster attitude much?

I actually quite enjoy the CDG fragrances I've tried despite of colognes I already own...

  10. I'm not sure what access you have, but Angeliques Sous La Pluis by Frederic Malle fits what you're looking for (or Bois D'Orage if you want it a bit stronger). Both are based on vegetal musks and are very wearable. (I realize "angeliques" sounds a bit girlie, but its a plant root...nothing flowery)

If you want more of a straight forward musk, try Narcisso Rodriguez.

If those are too expensive/out of reach, try Declaration by Cartier. I know I keep suggesting it over and over, but its really a great, versatile scent. Not too sweet, not too spicy, not too anything...above all not too expensive.

If you want to try more CDG stuff, look at the Red series. Sequoia is one of my fav's and gets lots of compliments...but its pretty strong.

Hmm, I looked a Angeliques up and it sounds really tempting but I can't seem to find a website that I can order a sample from.

Although I did order a sample of Sequoia from luckscent, hopefully it will be a wearable scent from the CDG series. I'll also have to check Narciso Rodriguez out.

I'll tell you how I like it! Thanks again

  11. Hi Gimme, I'm trying to expand my tastes in colognes a little bit... I've tried a couple of the Comme de Garcons series- 2man I enjoyed but I would only wear it in certain situations, and (due to some talk about it in the thread) I've tried Skai... which was kinda too out there for me and was a little too fake for my taste.

As of right now I have been using Burberry Brit & Aqua by Bulgari (I know, I know, but I'm trying!), and I enjoy both of those scents but they are a bit too sweet - I'm looking for something a tad bit muskier and not too spicy; a scent that can be subtle without subtracting from its allure.

your help is much appreciated =D
