do you work in the industry, theetruscan?
they have ready-made 'reproofing' liquid (aka dressing) for denim/leather... brands like barbour, etc.
maybe i should just try that
i'd like to try a more 'user-friendly' process than what familyman's done XD or beginner-friendly
rather like the idea of using water-based solutions than oil-based for easy cleaning

oh that's true... but a lot of wax products will say on the container that it is flammable. paraffin wax, beeswax, etc. these are flammable.
if it's candle wax, maybe it's a different type of wax
or maybe all of these products are mislabelled ... ermm

haha, interesting you guys find it amusing
i like some of the ones posted, esp when it's a whole line in relief rather than just one knot
i never noticed pants had this
is it done on purpose? we've made fabrics like this, as part of the design in general

Were you hoping it would turn transparent? The thing with using real wax is, it's very flammable so I don't think it's a good option......... ..

did anyone else try this out ?
you guys mentioned polyurethane... that's basically varnish, so maybe that would work. it stiffens the fabric. i wonder if there is another way

hi familyman
that's a great job you did
the only thing i'm concerned with is, it's very flammable isn't it? the wax, the turpentine, everything you used it seems... i always thought they would use 'synthetics' to create this look nowadays
i do remember reading about oilskin and 'waxed' cotton --i don't know if they still do that the same way nowadays, probably still called the same only switched to synthetic ingredients

by the way, there is such thing as synthetic wax
if you know for sure that they're really using 'real' wax (or real oil) please let me know
