i HATE wild turkey, and i'm not much a fan of bourbon altogether,

but i had a sitdown with jimmy russell and this was some pretty solid stuff.

    230201961.jpgcaol_ila.jpg

im seconding the consensus on these two.

i like a young hearty scotch, and even though the caol ila is beastly compared to the talisker (i always have to add a splash of water, which i usually try not to do), theyre both great values.

  2. bring on the ladies hyun. but tell the waiter that they gotta have shaved legs.

i hate how fob girls have those tiny baby hairs all over their legs mang.

btw, has that changed at all? i havent been back in a while.

  3. look up the stanford prison experiment.

regular army sucks homie. everyone tries to transfer out.

and if youre in that position, unfortunately you do what youre told.

    it is what it is.

    sorry for thread trash.

please resume celebrity boob critiques and crazy party details.

  4. ^^ wow for someone who has no experience being one, you sure know alot.

ill make sure to ask my cousin whether he likes sitting in a metal box with ac, or trekking some random korean forest for 60 miles with a 50lb pack and some hotass BDU's on.

  5. Sometimes I don't understand the mentality of these Korean people, nor their actions when they try to get violent with the riot police, which are just fucking young kids doing their mandatory services and also just put there to be used as human shields to get shitted on.

    Sad.

my cousin did riot police work for his army stint.

dont feel bad for those kids at all, they love beating the crap outta ppl.

getting cut up from broken soju bottles does suck, but any aggression from the crowd is grounds for an oldschool billy club beatdown, and it sure as hell beats dying anonymously from exhaustion during army training.

  6. anyone have any recommendations on the subject?

is the d300 worth the extra 600?

ive used a canon to shoot film but never nikon, nor have i shot digital all that much.

i wish i could throw down for a full frame, but cropped will have to do.

also if i was gonna go with the d300,

can you nikon folks recommend some lenses?

i need a 50mm prime (or about that) and a nice wide angle (10-22mm?) that arent ridiculous amounts of money.

    thanks.

  7. Fuck, I thought this thread might be interesting, but it is ruined (as was expected) by concentrating on the least interesting part of the whole religion debate. So many people have a narrow scope, it's sad. Get over the idea of any specificity of 'God', and the whole part that deals with physical being and matter is useless. But it also shows how sad the defense of religious people has become. Please just have the fucking guts to nót defend yourself and admit that you have no proof, no rational insight or whatever, but still believe and that you don't care about being rational in that sense either. Please make it a personal thing, have your own rways and choices. Rationality is overrated.;)

Anyway, this is not aimed at anyone specific. But in general people's honest personal reasons for believing that are based on experience are so much more interesting then the clichés; the bible tells us so, the world is to perfect to not be created by a intelligent being, evolution theory is flawed, etc. arguments.

Most of the counter arguments are just as boring and useless.

    truth.

95% of christians are horribly versed in defending their faith.

there are some great books out there that do make up for that, but really if i listed them would you care enough to pick one up? if you wouldnt, again youre not investigating the issue with an open mind, instead youre just reading this thread to affirm what you believe by reading the "stupid" things that christians have to say.

further truth is the shameless rhetoric that christians offer up as "evidence" for faith. that goes both ways though. most of the counterarguments offered by secularists are just as contrived and are essentially a rehash of what their 8th grade biology teacher told them and flashes of new scientific research that they read on cnn. few of you if any have every taken a serious consideration of evolution as a theory, of not just its evidence to affirm, but the serious counterarguments that are offered against it (of course i have resources for this as well).

this will be my last post on this issue (atleast in this thread). i love how a good dialogue like this paints me as a fundamentalist, when my atheist buddy studying next to me would never make such a blanket statement about me lol. peace.

  8. haha steve madden is a garbage shoe store for little girls and almost yuppies. its the same company as aldo.

you gotta start somewhere, and actually i applied as a joke cuz i figured they didnt hire guys, but the hiring manager thought i was cute and took me anyways.

  9. when i was 18, i was straight hustling at steve madden.

$5.25/hr base + 2.5% commission. thanks to some incompetent and lazy coworkers, and a busy mall, i made bank (~$13-14/hr).

and then my friend hooked me up at pf changs. i was pulling in ~150+ for a night shift. those were the days. no bills, car paid for, just stackin cheese.

if you're legal to serve alcohol at 18, shoot for a decent restaurant job.

you'll have to do some convincing for them to hire you, but if you can pull it, its real good money.

  10. they can't agree because religion says God made everything and science says otherwise, simple as that. and just as you said earlier, sungrak cannot tell someone they have to have complete knowledge of every nook and cranny of the universe to come to a conclusion but exempt himself from the same logic

i love how you selectively cut and paste in order to further your arguments. im pretty sure i addressed this point explicitly not just once, but twice. lol

that being said, lets lock the thread now. the only person who came here with an open mind was jeepster. as with 99.9% of all religious discussion, the only purpose it serves is to allow he who is speaking the ability to preach to the choir and to prove to himself why he is right.

  11. ^^ i concede that the same argument could be used against deists. hence the argument for faith, not by sight but in things unseen.

haha eccles, didnt mean to offend. this forum surprises me in terms of the wide scope of ppl that inhabit it. what i meant though by my statement is that when each religion is explicitly claiming exclusivity, they are exactly that, mutually exclusive. tell a muslim, a hindu, and a jew that theyre all going to the same place when they die. you'll get alot of "wtf?". the central dogma to each of these major world religions is again, exclusivity.

(btw, the temple you guys built a little north of chicago is beautiful. seriously. the polygon throws me off a little bit but its a great temple nonetheless).

  12. apparently im an idiot and im arrogant. haha which unfortunately might be true!

but i will leave you all with this.

i can respect claims of agnosticism. but claims of atheism have no merit. if i say there are no brown rocks w/ triangular white spots on them, then i must have extensive knowledge of the universe, insight into every galaxy, planet and moon, in order for me to absolutely conclusively say that there indeed are no such rocks. atheists claiming there absolutely is no god must also have such an extensive knowledge of every nook and cranny of the universe to conclude the validity of said statement. god could indeed be hiding under a rock! such statements dont hold up as we will never ascertain the greatness of the universe where we can conclusively say these things are true.

what does that mean? thats not to say then by default there is a God (that ultimately requires some measure of faith, regardless of your religion), considering the same argument could be turned around and made for all deists. but instead it leads us to the open possibility that there could be someone greater than us.

as for world religions, either one is right, or theyre all wrong. why? islam, judaism, and christianity all claim their way is the only way to knowing god, while buddhism was a direct rejection of hinduism. that covers about 98% of all world religions right? haha. therefore because of these exclusionist principles, either we are wallowing in some hell, or there truely is no afterlife at all. (don't even get me started with the bahai. ask a buddhist what he thinks of going to islamic hell and see what he says),

  13. There may be good arguments for the existence of God but none of them are contained within this post.

If you look at the universe and its mechanics it is very hard to conclude there is an intelligent hand guiding it. The existance of a planet that supports life as we know it (like Earth) is extremely improbable and the result of a number of random occurances.

As for the human body, the reason it looks designed is because it isn't the result of random chance. I'm amazed someone in med school has no understanding of evolution by natural selection.

If God really displays his glory through the way his creations interact with each other, he isn't that glorious. Even though the past hundred years have probably seen our species at its most civilized, they have included countless atrocities. Personally I think the need for someone to love you unconditionally is quite infantile and unnecessary for any mature person.

I didn't want to get too into astronomy and biology there because I have a very incomplete understanding of them; but I can assure you that most astronomers would agree that the universe is highly chaotic apart from some constants, and most biologists would agree that evolution is as much a fact as gravity.

haha arent you in high school? smart kid, but you need to think more critically.

ill offer my rebuttal, for better or worse, and then its off to sleep.

put me on ignore or scroll down if you dont want to read this.

-edit- that was way too long. so i redid it.

the concise rebuttal to evolution is this: get parts to build a house and lay them on the ground (boards, nails, etc..). tie a bunch of tools to a dogs tail and have him bang stuff around randomly. thats evolution. evolution says that somehow that random tail banging created the house and aka caused new organisms to form. random mutations (that we learn in school are pretty much always deleterious and fatal), accumulated to put that house together, from a process that had no intellect and reasoning capability to do so. we're building an "empirical science" (or theory) based solely on innumerable chances and odds. ridiculous right? (that's as simple as it gets, as Toto said there are better arguments)

But forget about science. About what I said about God. God does want to display his glory through us, and even though the wrongdoings of mankind dont point to that, the way the world is now is not how God intended it. Divorce, sexual abuse, genocide, and war are not glorious things, instead theyre things that God is calling us to do something about. He's fighting to make things right, and that's the purpose of the gospel in what I know to be Christianity.

The need for love and acceptance is juvenile and unnecessary? Kid, even the social psychologists got it right. There is no greater force on earth than social pressure, the need to belong, to be accepted and loved. Why do you wear the things you do? Why do you post in WAYWT? Because you know that sufu will accept and love the way you dress. Because the brands you wear are sufu acceptable. You would never wear Hilfiger, American Eagle, and Nike crosstrainers and post a WAYWT. Why? Because that would result in the exact opposite of the acceptance and in essence, the love you're longing for.

Human needs are juvenile, I'll admit that. But they're present and universal. Ultimately though, the improbability of it all leads me to believe that it wasnt a fluke. It's much more logical and easier for me to believe that this was planned, rather than for me to think that I'm a result of permutation upon permutation. That's all.

(sorry for the long post, i know its not what you all want to read).

  14. haha I thought I was the only Christian on this forum.

    1. Is there a God? Absolutely. Outside of what I put my faith in, I see a universe that is way too well defined and perfect in its organization for it to have been a giant cosmic accident. Christian and non-Christian alike can agree the universe had a beginning (if this in doubt, ask), and the micro/macro-organization of it all doesn't compute to random chance and swirling molecules. I'm in med school, and everything we learn about the human body continues to cement the notion that nothing was random, but instead every enzymatic pathway, structure, and function had an intimate purpose and design.

    2. Why does He exist? (Btw, I'm not writing this to proselytize, just stating my stance.) Its a complete and mutual relationship. He displays his glory through his creation and the way we love and benefit one another, and in turn we get the satisfaction of knowing that no matter what happens in life, there is someone who loves and accepts us totally and unconditionally, regardless of what someone says about our fit, our place in society, or the way we live out our lives.

    Jeep,

if you decide upon the fact that God exists (whichever God that is),

always ask the question what for.

The two always go hand in hand

  15. ^^that was my reasoning exactly

i saw the bone patent achilles mids he had and i thought theres no way they could bootleg that exact color and with all the right details.

and then kunk mentioned the court shoe mids, and i was on it.

the problem is, id keep you guys posted but im not gonna see them for another 2mon. theyre getting sent home while im at school.

    caveat emptor.

  16. haha i got busted.

either way, for 165 im gonna gamble and say their legit.

chinese bootleggers are good, but not good enough to bootleg something in the coming season that havent been distributed widely.

have you seen the fake cp's? theyre a joke.

i guess we'll find out though.

  17. haha other members? im selfish!

besides, like you would never holdout if you wanted to go back and make sure what you wanted was still there.

    neg away.

edit: for the record, that was the only pair i found.
