  3. Thanks to all for the nice compliments/reps.

I hope that Warehouse continues to use their name and the wonderful denim that made them famous. As I recall, they were considering just doing their Duckdigger and DW line.

Now that the year is over, I'm giving some pre-lawsuit Canes the attention they deserve.

  4. These were super cheap.

    No rivets, paper patch.

    real?

If I'm not mistaken, this is the sanforized version of the 101 silhouette. I don't know why the paper patch and lack of rivets, sorry.

  5. Great mag -- too bad I can't read it!

Surprisingly, I am most impressed with the Lee's on pg. 114 and the Blue Bells on pg 202 -- very richly blue and contrasted.

It was also interesting to see the popularity of the FH 3005 versus the 3001, given that the later seems more popular here in the US. I think I remember Chicken noting this after his trip to the denim festival in Japan.

  6. Great list england.

    I would just add:

    Amoeba Records (Sunset and Ivar).

The Silent Movie Theater -- they have recently started showing a lot of great hard to see films http://silentmovietheatre.com

In-N-Out Burgers (esp. if you've never been to LA)

    Drive up Pacific Coast Highway

In my opinion, Peet's is the best chain to get decent coffee in LA, esp. for straight espresso.

Maybe go downtown during the day. So much there. Old theater district on Broadway; Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Garment District. Downtown is really quite overwhelming and bizzare.

  7. ^^ Correct. Denim Revival, on 3rd St, used to be called Denim Doctors. I've read nothing but poor reviews. HTC/Denim Doctors, on Beverly, is supposed to be good.

On a side note, I like how HTC's Beverly location recently converted to all vintage. Small selection, but fun.

Chuck's is supposed to do great repairs, though not sure if M has chainstiching capabilities...?

I would be surprised if Mister Freedom was not able to do repairs/hemming, especially since his studio is above the store. Might be worth the inquiry.

I'm so happy that LA seems to be going through bit of a vintage/denim renaissance:)

Now we just need a BIG/Self Edge!!!

  8. No flaw in my argument has, nor will there be, been pointed out because I am right. It is well known that one that has nothing else to add to a discussion resorts to insults, as shown above.

Note that I did not say or imply that anyone should be left out of the poll, I actually said the exact opposite, that no one should be kicked out because the rule has already been broken.

There are obviously a couple on here who like to give me a bad rap and misinterpret what I say, you being one of them, made obvious by the moment and way in which you chose to pitch in.

I'm suddenly reminded of the truly great line in a otherwise bad movie:

"Are you so much a loser, you can't tell when you've won?"

    From Dusk Till Dawn

    ;)

  9. Initial thoughts on the jeans:

The color of these remind me a bit of sc1947s, while the denim is slightly more irregular. But I wouldn't call them slubby. Not much crocking from what I can tell. Overall, they are very comfortable to wear and a nice follow-up to 6 months of nothing but pbj's.

I love that my buttons have already started to rust! The coin pocket selvedge is a nice detail and I think uncommon for 66' repros, no?

As for shrinkage, I lost patient with just soaking and threw them into the wash/dryer. Not too denim-nerdy, but what the hell, they needed to be shrunk down! Lastly, I was surprised that the length seemed a little too long, as I'm 6'2". But I have no problem with a little cuffing.

Great jeans. Great price. I'm very excited to see everyone's evolutions.
