Can anyone break down footwear sizing for me?

I've always been hesitant buying shoes off of y!jp because the various listings I see for L and XL jawnz have incongruent US sizing. I've seen L described as size US9-10 or as US10-11, for example.

 

I have a Medium from SS10 and it fits an EU 42 / US 9 pretty perfectly

i could have afforded to take in the waist a bit, as the pants started to sag after sitting a while. click to see phone pic of before ceremony

 

white on white was my alternative but i decided against it as it felt too proper. i'm glad i did, as there were lots of attendees with dark suits, jacket + jeans, sans tie, girls in bodycon, etc.
