kinda random but...
anyone know who makes/where i can get a canvas sailor bag? preferably smaller sized than a surplus one, navy/black with a thick (not string) shoulder strap? (if it even exists??)
merci
Not sure if it's quite what you're after but i've bought a couple of bags from here... http://www.canvas-factory.co.uk/
Pretty tough, thick canvas.

I have some 9011s and they are narrower than them. I wouldn't say narrower then chucks except for the fact that they start off stiffer being leather as opposed to canvas. Also note they are longer. Trying them on in store I had to size down from a 9 (usual Red Wing size) to an 8.

LL, I feel that pain - I think the boots are gonna break me before I break them.

Scooting around the web to find out more about engineer boots I came across this guys site:

Has some cool jackets on there too including a horsehide Buco - *drool*

Nice tip on the leather heal replacement, I'll check out my local cobbler.
I love the red deep colour you've achieved for the wood on the Lone Wolfs. What kind of treatment have you been giving these?

Now with added legs!
Hope they work out LL.

Around 8 inches I think - have to do some measurements. Probably looks exaggeratedly small because of the width of the boot' shaft.

The new RM 2268s plus some bonus pics from Lightening Maintenance Magazine.
Fit wise I sized down a half on my regular shoe size. They crippled me after the first day of wear but I massaged a bit of mink oil in and have worn all day today. They seem to be getting there, tough SOBs though.

^^ LL, I literally bought a pair of RW 2268's this weekend. They are super tough, I love them but breaking them in is gonna be a challenge.

^^ Top work Paulo. Looking forward to hearing what the results are. If I can get my arse across town i'll check them out too.

I love these from Heller's Cafe

Not sure if they're based specifically on early 501's. They have arcuates on the back pocket but so did other brands at the time.

Washboy, I think your efforts look pretty good - aside from as already mentioned some of the rips on the thighs, that's the kind of thing I see at TopShop.
For me and many others here it sort of misses the point. As Opie and others have said, it's wabi sabi, it's the journey dude, it's how each day your denim changes and ages with you. I guess you know this as you say you wear raw most of the week. I say keep with the updates, don't rise to the haters but expect a lot of disagreement.
And in a couple of years when you've worn in your raw denim then post side-by-side with your artificial wear, will be fascinating.

These could be worth watching...

Not sure about about Sateen, would need to handle it before buying but interesting alternative to denim.
I wish for Gods sake that Oki-ni would get a new model. That guy is so skinny he makes everything look vast.

There's a picture Hugh - always Prince Regent from Blackadder 3 for me - on Aero's ebay page wearing a Highwayman. And I think i've read that he wears Belstaff, they seem to have really penetrated the Hollywood set.

Nice pics on the Selvage Yard blog today. Classic Danny Lyons, such as ...

Word from Lewis @ Superdenim.co.uk is that they too will be stocking Joe McCoy in due course.
Excuse my poor dumb ass but what i'm not quite understanding is how these will differ from the current Real McCoys line-up. This goes beyond just a change of label right? Different cuts, denim, details, etc?
Denomito or anyone else, got any insights on this?

... and another thing... sorry if i'm straying slightly off topic here but thinking of McQueen and this latest MrFreedom line led me to watch On Any Sunday at the weekend - really recommended to anyone that rides or just likes the vibe. Good late 60s early 70s styles.

^^ I remember reading a tale once of how McQueen turned down a date with a top Hollywood starlet because he wanted to re-wax his Belstaff jacket.
Just to note, he wore a Barbour for the six day trials event in '64, it was the team clothing but it's reported his personal preference was for Belstaff.
Anyway, the Mr Feedom jungle cloth version looks amazing!
