  1. freerice.com

apparently all you do is answer vocab questions and for every one you get right, they donate 10 grains of rice.

    "

Who pays for the donated rice?

The rice is paid for by the advertisers whose names you see on the bottom of your vocabulary screen. This is regular advertising for these companies, but it is also something more. Through their advertising at FreeRice, these companies support both learning (free vocabulary for everyone) and reducing hunger (free rice for the hungry). We commend these companies for their participation at FreeRice.

If FreeRice has the rice to give, why not give it all away right now?

FreeRice is not sitting on a pile of rice―you are earning it 10 grains at a time. Here is how it works. When you play the game, advertisements appear on the bottom of your screen. The money generated by these advertisements is then used to buy the rice. So by playing, you generate the money that pays for the rice donated to hungry people.

Couldn’t I just write a computer program to play all day and give a lot of rice that way?

There are two problems with this. First, it overloads our servers so that real people can’t play and learn vocabulary. Second, without real people playing and eventually buying products, it is no longer cost-effective for companies to advertise. Without advertising, we cannot give any rice at all.

Does FreeRice make any money from this?

No, it does not. FreeRice runs the site at no profit.

    Who distributes the donated rice?

The rice is distributed by the United Nations World Food Program (WFP). The World Food Program is the world’s largest food aid agency, working with over 1,000 other organizations in over 75 countries. In addition to providing food, the World Food Program helps hungry people to become self-reliant so that they escape hunger for good. Wherever possible, the World Food Program buys food locally to support local farmers and the local economy. We encourage you to visit the United Nations World Food Program to learn more about their successful approach to ending hunger.

Will the rice I donate make a difference?

The rice you donate makes a huge difference to the person who receives it. About 25,000 people die each day from hunger or hunger-related causes, most of them children. To a mother or father watching a loved child die in their arms from hunger, the rice you donate is more precious than anything in the world."

  2. dude. what the fuck. you cant hate, your a noob. neg rep.

i ain't hatin man. i just didn't like the way his jeans hit his shoes. that's all. not a disaster or anything. and i may be a noob to posting, but i've been lurking unregistered for months now.

  3. Going to have to chime in about Brand New too, in agreeance with DD. The third album definitely is different, but they really pull it off nicely live. Last I saw them, they announced they were going to play one of the songs off the first album, then went right into one of the newer ones. A lot of the taking back sunday-loving kids in the crowd just looked puzzled. If this new album is going to weed out the mtvites, I can't ask for more. They also ended the show with a pretty long, pretty cool instrumental.

sounds cool. makes me more excited to see them live in december. can't wait. although part of me is still attached to the pop punk taking back sunday esque era (i was an angsty 13 year old living in suburban long island when i started listening to them, gimme a break)

e46 m3 lightly tuned (daily driver)

  5. price - is one article of clothing worth this much? is the price tag large because of the actual quality/attention to detail of the garment or whose name is stamped on the tag?

necessitty- do i really need it? will i wear it more than once?

quality- will it fall apart after one wash?

color- does it go with articles of clothing i already own?

adaptability- too formal? too casual? again i don't want a garment only to be worn on one occasion

design- subtleness is key. it's the little things that count.

fit- yes it looks good. but the more important question: does it look good on me? (should be everyone's deciding factor)

  6. i have a pair of sliqs. really dark but they didn't have that raw sheen to it. i guess they were rinsed onced. anyways for 20 bucks not bad. i shouldve sized down though because they're not as slim as i thought they were. and the fades are almost nonexistant (and i mustve worn them 120+ times, no washing). but for 20 bucks not bad. also they have the "drain" which is slimmer, also 20 buck, but i can't find a raw pair, let alone one in a 28. they have overdyed black though at all the h&ms i've been to.

  7. if it's expensive, tell yourself a single article of clothing is not worth that much

if it's cheap, tell yourself it will fall apart in the wash

ebay? tell yourself there are too many scammers out there.

ask yourself, two years from now, am i still going to be happy with this purchase?

ask yourself, is it versatile? does it go with things i already own or will i have to purchase entire new outfits to make this one article of clothing work?

graphic design? tell yourself it's tacky/cheesy/novelty

solid? tell yourself it's too plain
