  1. My addiction is to cell phones and shoes.

I currently own 55 pairs of shoes, and 10 cell phones. I buy a new one about once a month, and eBay ones I don't use or like that much. Total number owned is in the 150-200 range over a 9 year period, but my addiction really started about 6 years ago.

I've been using my BlackBerry 8800c with my work SIM card for about 6 months, which is honestly the longest I've ever used a phone.

  2. Samsung i607 BlackJack containing an at&t 3G SIM card for my home phone service. Unlocked BlackBerry 8800c containing a T-Mobile SIM with service paid by my company. I purchased this the first week it was available on Cingular (now at&t) and had it unlocked by gsmphonesource.com so I could use it with T-Mobile service. When I have my laptop, I also have an Option GT Max 3G data card with at&t service.

    In reserve, I have a Motorola RAZR V3xx, SonyEricsson Z610i, and a Nokia 6630.

Coming soon will be a Pantech Duo and likely a BlackBerry 8310.

  3. I had good fun on Saturday, despite U&I being closed for no apparent reason.

I had brunch at Shadeface (I think that was the name) once I left the St. Laurent STM station. Once I discovered that U&I was closed, I stopped in a shop nearby (Johnny Boy), and chatted with the birds in there for a bit. They were quite good looking, and oddly enough, they both really liked my jeans which was surprising since they were nothing too special (Levi's Red).

I then headed down to McGill to go to 972Telecom, but the turds in there were just spouting off prices trying to rip me off. $1250 CAD for an HTC TyTN II?!? Yeah right. I then headed down to Peel, stopped in Energie (which had some cool shoes), and then made my way down St. Catherines. I didn't have much luck finding anything I wanted, so I ducked into McLean's Pub for lunch and beers before making my way back to STM and Charlevoix where my truck was parked.

I then made my way back to the US, and hit duty free to get some beer. Ended up with some Molson Export. :)

Sooooooo, that was my Saturday in Montreal. :)

  4. It's actually Michel Brisson. But yeah, those are pretty much the decent stores in the city.

I think herpsky and I will be shopping around tomorrow, might see you somewhere...

Thanks! Is there anything decent for shoes near where the Louis Vuitton is? That area appears to be a shopping area, but I can't find out anything else about what's around it.

Anyway, if you guys are out, I'll be in a plain black T, Levi's 511, and black Diesel shoes carrying a LowePro camera bag. Feel free to say hi. :)

  5. The encyclopaedia (or just do a search) should answer all your questions on care, washing, etc....but all jeans are different, so find the pair you want first, then look for the info relating to those jeans specifically.

As for cuts, I'm not very familiar with Levi's numbering...randomly, I would suggest looking into Studio D'Artisan SD-103, Samurai S5000vx, and Flat Head's F380. Those are 3 pairs that I have, or would want in my collection.

I don't really have any questions on care (I don't think anyway), but the suggestion of searching for information on specific jeans I find is good.

  6. It is probably impratical for you to do this or you would have already, but if you can get to Self Edge and try stuff on in store while talking to someone there that would probably be the best possible scenario.

Otherwise try taking measurements on the 511 and 514 and looking at sizing charts for something similar.

    Good luck.

It will be worth it to order from somewhere with a good exchange policy if you end up not being super sure when you buy.

Actually, I live out of hotels pretty much, so I don't mind traveling. I've just never known the places to look. I'm normally shopping for shoes. :)

The measurement idea is great, and I think I will do that.

  7. I am relatively new to the denim scene, and currently all of my jeans are of the pre-shrunk variety, and mainly Levi's. I'm looking to purchase my first pair of raw jeans, but none of the ones I've tried have been what I'm looking for. I've tried Levi's 501xx, but they are too baggy. I tried H&M Sliq's on a friend's recommendation, and they were too skinny on my hips. I'd like to find a pair that fit somewhere between a Levi's 511 and 514. I don't need Levi's, but I'm using them as a fit reference for the experts to hopefully provide some advice. :)

Just as an aside, I've been following the generally accepted best practices for denim treatment (i.e., not washing until absolutely required, etc.), but I really need help to make my foray into raw denim a pleasant one.

    Thanks in advance!
