  1. Found these photos on my computer, I think they are SD-103s? Lee repro LHT on one side, Levis repro RHT on the other.

I must of purchased these around 2009 and the photos are probably with about a year of wear. I hope they are still in a box somewhere! Have to dig them out and keep wearing them.

Cycling in jeans is never a good idea.

  2. If the chain line isn't straight...

    1. Spacers for the cog.

    2. Different length bottom bracket.

    3. If your running road cranks, swap sides or use spacers.

    4. Spacers in your hub, then redish wheel.

A tenser chain can actually create noise. A slacker one will have more movement and be smoother, but also may cause noise.

Or you can use a 1/8th chain on 3/32nd setup, which will be smoother, but more unsafe and create more noise.

    Take your pick...

  3. It's its from the '60s, and has downtube shifters I would be 99% sure that it has horizontal drop outs.

It would be pretty easy to convert on a budget. All you really need to do is strip down the frame of derailer system.

All you really need is a new track hub, and it will need to be dished out to accommodate the wider space where the cluster of the previous wheel was.

Or you can just bend the chain and seat stays. Which can work, but sometimes not well.

And from then on you can upgrade to track specific stuff if you want. With the crankset being the first option.

  4. That things beautiful. Hopefully you will be riding on the track with a frame and components like that! But its your money so...

And please don't say the rims are 32 hole Velocitys...

  5. I was tucking the tags into the pockets, but the Levis one had to be folded over. Looked stupid so they have been removed now.

The cuts based on the 103. Fit looked much better on the pre-distressed model I tried on. But as it will look more like the pair I tried on over time, no stress.

The only thing Im pissed about is that I'm going to get bike seat fades. Hopefully it doesnt look too stupid.

  6. Will post pictures later.

Right hand side is RHT, left hand side LHT. Im going to tuck the tags into the pockets. Seems like a waste to remove them. Cost me 23940Yen. Only a denim-head would be able to tell the difference in intensitys of each side.

    Also the leg-twist is crazy!

  9. The weft was braking in the line of the whiskers. And I wear them low, and I use them quite alot.

Also, I think that once a tear has formed it will just keep on ripping. But if I had this reinforcement before they tear they wont tear as soon.

I personally think its a good idea.

  10. Hey guys thanks for all the replies.

Just got my bike today, set it up, went to my local bike shop to get straps and the brake. Did it all myself! Yay!

To be honest I was underestimating fixed gear without a break. But now that I have that break I feel like I have more confidence.

But damn fixed gear is fun! I cannot belive I was missing out on this! I understand what you guys mean when you say 'You feel one with the bike'. Riding now seems like a game then a chore.

Went riding around the hills and valleys of Auckland for the past 2 hours! But the only problems I seem to be having is strapping in, I cant seem able to do it consistantly...But I think its all just practise.

    Thanks again for the help!

    Cheers

  11. Thanks for the replys. I dont mind looking like a 'poser' as long as im having a good time. I think thats what all that counts.

And I do want that safetynet. To be honest, I was a bit shocked too see people riding brakeless screaming down the streets in Tokyo. Looked like fun though!!

And I want too install it myself, I understand there are tutorials on the internet, and I think I am quite mechanically inclined, but do you guys have any kinds of tips that may help? Or is it quite straight-foward, as I think it is.

  12. Hey, rather ask you guys then the guys over at bikeforum.

I've been riding a beater road bike for a while, but have chosen to buy a fixed gear.

So for the past 2 weeks, I've been trying not too use the brakes as much, and mimicing the 'no-coasting' feel, but always end up using the front ones to stop at lights, pedestrians etc.

Do you guys think that I would be able to hold my own resisting the strokes and skidding? Or should I install a front brake for safety as I am new. I do have confidence in my thighs...

And where I am, New Zealand, it is illegal to ride without breaks. Im pretty sure cops dont check, but what if I get in a accident, would insurance refuse to pay as I didnt have breaks? Or if I keep my mouth shut would I be fine?

  13. If you got to the Evisu store in Daikanyama, remember to go upstairs of the same building. Im pretty sure you have to take the elevator, but thats where they do all the painting, have some older styles, and sell other stuff apart from jeans.

Also in the same area in Daikanyama, check out the European Evisu store. A much larger store with about 4 different 'Rooms'. Layed out really nice, have other kinds of jeans and clothing, kids line, more painting, etc.
