tucked away at rankins lane.

personally, i enjoyed it.
it's very artistic and experimental, the sound effect, the visual, there's all sort of pace goes into this film. but, may not be everyone sort of film.
i watched it last week at nova when the director and the lead actor was there for the Q&A session.
to really understand the film, i suppose one must comprehend what sort of life and upbringing daniel goes through - it can quite be f*cked up for a child to witness someone's head got blown off - then rhetorically ponder one day if they will become the person holding the pistol blowing someones else head.
daniel's life experience are reflected in the film, his performance, i thought were very authentic, and honest.
the rage.

anyway, this film has redeemed daniel in many ways. kudos to him.

has anyone seen HAIL..?
produced by melbourne based film director amiel courtin-wilson, impressive for his first featured film..
the biographic film revolves around criminal-turn-actor daniel p jones, whom as a child, was traumatised by witnessing someone got shot in the head. and what that could have turned him into. the documentary / cicada can be watched here.
this eventually cultivate into a crime/ damaged love story film, HAIL.

Does anyone here know if Eastern Market or LEFT ever employ new staff, or are looking for new staff?
not sure about LEFT.
EM - since they opened their second store, there has been a few new staff.

em confirms only size 38 and 42 left. dang it.
sorry to bring this up again.
anyway EM also received another pair in size 43, boots.
also, there are some words floating around rei kawakubo may also be carrying m_moria line at her main cdg store in tokyo. so if cannot find your size at EM.. then maybe you could find it there in the coming seasons - maybe.

you are eleven_crow i presume?
very interesting discussion at sz about the boots. i find the vitriol rather funny.
seen several version of the m_moria footwear. but no doubt in my mind this horween norwegian welt boot come with me. and will trade all my ccp shoes for more of this.
and yes, there's another project of his, 1 piece foot last, etc. but i find them more of artistry than practicality...
and if it's the new direction he is proposing (another next level), then it will not fit into any retail. there won't be such thing as where2kop. it will likely change our opinion about fashion. and may change what we think about carpe diem offspring and the clones.
m_moria footwear are expensive, but for a good reason - it's made to be forever.

i have seen them. both are black smooth cordovan derbies.
size 38 are for women, tho.

thanks. will look forward.
also pieces in sydney carry them.
i think what carol's clothes is trying to encapsulate, if we are being critical about it - those feelings often gets worn, and imo, when look pass the intellect force it seemingly carry, and details / cuts in his clothes, i see a child, playing in his own baroque, tortured world. it lacks maturity in terms comfort, simplicity, elegance and timeless.
unfortunately, luc, and m.a+, etc etc theirs has sort of slowly dissipated... perhaps they have become like everyone else? - there's no more designer's designer.
nowadays look at people like rick, yohji, etc they all are now seem above them.

unfortunately.. i don't think i saw any size 44 when i got there.
haven't had a lot of experience with devoa, will try to inspect them more.

my wardrobe are almost ccp, and as much as i think ccp work are beautiful at first.. but ccp just don't age well... and kinda show how artificial they are.. i mean look at all the ccp in secondhand market, they always kind of looked disgusting. : \
m_moria.. a lot of well thought in terms of design,
some of the ankle boot model i have seen have the seam at the top are stitched so closely to the edge and divert away - so the leather are slightly folded to allow the feet slip in with ease.
the derbies are great, black smooth cordovan, truly classic.

i am just as bored with "fashion" these days.
seems like everything has become so theatrical and excessive, artistic yet comedic, it's not even innovative at all - what ever happened to being practical and timeless?
anyway, i bought the only pair of the natural cordovan ankle boot. some interesting feature.
the model is called a_quattro, it's pretty much handcrafted by the man himself, and the quality is amazing. certainly made my ccp shoes really really crappy.. : \

yohji landed at EM. great hakama pants. jackets, coats, boots, shoes, knits, cardigans, scarves, shirts, ties, braces, etc.. - was speechless they ordered the underwear..
also M_moria horween ankle boot and shoes, prototype. hand made by maurizio altieri himself. no collab, no rehash, but re-imagined classics.
impeccable quality, makes me feel all the shoes out there are crappy.

melbourne's laneway culture gets a little spin, a new hidden addition at one of melbourne's alleyway is the new EM2 -
but in order to reach the new store.. one may have to walk pass omitted smoke from a grill house and row of garbage bins.
talk about elusive. lol.
http://lucyspartalis.com/?p=3766
so, they will be receiving maurizio altieri's mythical new line m_moria footwear...
(hopefully, they will be displaying their new carpe diem chair in the store, too.)

looking for something like this

^that's my point, it's not just about the tools or whatever knowledge they possess, it's whether they can really see this as a career.
tonne of friends i know of want to set up their own boutique store, it seems so easy - but truth is not everyone can actually do retail.

maybe work under someone/store for a certain period first....?
personally i am very dubious about people start up a merchandising business without having some sort of prior experience. some succeeded, but most failed.
takes lot's of money, luck and people skill / networking for one to do so, tho.

... i think...doing a retailing business is all about passion than being rich, as well as loving all sorts people, even those people are from hell..
for people who aspire to run a business.. the 4 P's are outdated.
no longer it's about the prices. it's now about the cost.
no longer it's about the product. it is now about the consumer.
no longer it's about the places. it is now about the convenience.
no longer it's about the promotion. it's now about the communication.
it is definitely all about change or die in this kind of climate. same goes as the pure play internet retailers.
take apple for example, or amazon , it is important to multi-channel
social concept store bring back the meaning of "traditional" b&m store. which imho, lift and ln-cc are very very successfully at, having art installations, gigs and great atmosphere for a social gathering.
the problem about australian internet retailers.. are because they are in an unsustainable environment - we have the most volatile and fluctuating currency, in addition that e-commerce basically have got very weak customer loyalty - internet shoppers sway to and fro in this global market that demand diversity and bargains. (then as a retailer, how much loss/nonprofit can you bear..?)
australia itself on another hand are geographically isolated, with opposite seasons, different government, culture and values to elsewhere, somethings takes time to assimilate, some perhaps never,, sz stuff are at best, surface appealing, imo.. there can be only be that minor group of people at a given period willing to spend / understand that sort of aesthetic (younger group comes in, matured group leaves) - the slicing of the cake will just become smaller, that's all.
i have not bought any clothing from online quite awhile... so. : S
anyway.. here's some good read http://www.mbaker-retail.com/
