  1. While trading in your 5 Series for a P car is not a bad idea, do realize you are going from a very reliable (for a European car) BMW to one of the less reliable examples of a more finicky and exotic brand.  Also, while buying a 924/944 is cheap, parts are still astronomically expensive, way more so than BMW parts, which are merely very expensive.  Personally, I would hold out for a pre-996 911 of some sort, since I think the 924/944 are bad examples of P car excellence.  I drive a BMW 5 series and want a 911 to replace it, so I have been over-thinking this for years.

Well I have researched that quite a bit already and while that probably would be true for a 968, people on many forums praise the reliability and handling of the Porsche 944, and you can actually find examples with over 300k kilometers on the odo.

Where I live parts for either my E39 or the Porsche 944 are about the same (availability is obviously on the side of the E39), but the Porsche, being older, seems easier to work on (I try to do all the maintenance myself on my car). So I don't think it would be a bad choice.

But althought, I'm keeping this idea in mind but I've decided to wait until my girlfriend gets a car (something rather utilitary) so I can swap the BMW for something more sporty.

  2. Glad you guys had great experiences. I was super busy and didn't send PMs, but feel free to next time you come by.

I went to Potsdam yesterday as well, it's got very beautiful castle, houses and parks (I have to go to Studio Babelsberg some other time), and the city center is a nice change to Berlin's fast paced inner city. I drove there but it seemed rather ok by S-Bahn. Rather recommended if it's sunny and you want to spend a nice day walking around.

rirawin, you indeed came during one of the most enduring week we had in a long time. Obama's visit closed loads of roads and attractions as well... Then again it's now been raining for about a week :/

  3. How did this thread get 400+ pages and is now dead :(

I just got into bikes because I had to get a commuter. 2nd hand racing bikes are expensive from May on in Berlin so I found an old Peugeot for 90€. I since replaced the rusty wheels, going to replace the weird handle bar with something straight and got dura ace brakes on ebay for 35€. Pictures when I'm done to revive the thread.

  4. Good job but it looks a little bit like a design studio or something, maybe hide some comps/materialo elsewhere? I like how you positioned the shelves. Is the sofa super small or is the angle messing with the proportions? Otherwise you have some sort of harmony problem...

Agreed on the design studio thing, Next step is finding a better way to position everything in the room. Unfortunately I can't do without me and my gf's computers but we are thinking about making a one piece desk that would be on the same level as the window border and introduce cable management. The sofa isn't that small it just looks like it on the picture. I tried switching it with the red chair, it works so far.
