  1. Does anyone know which J Crew stores stock Alden? A few different styles are currently on 60% off, but can only be purchased in store. I would make the drive to any store on the upper North East if I could confirm that the shoes would be there when I arrived....

Where did you see 60% off? Any idea which models it applies to? Not sure if anywhere here in Chicago carries them (never looked) but would probably put some effort into getting some at that price...

  2. All prices USD and include shipping, please add 3% for Paypal sent not as gift. Have bought and sold a few items here in the past, and have a 100% rating on eBay.

    Local pickup available in Chicago.

    Band of Outsiders - XS - $60

    Shirt with thin green stripes.

Condition: good - worn, but no obvious defects

    APC - XS - $55

Slim fitting shirt in brown plaid pattern

Condition: good - worn but no visible defects

    Woolrich Woolen Mills - 30 - $50

Dark navy trousers in a slim jean-style cut. Listed as "Shell: 65% polyester, 35% cotton; Lining: 100% cotton". Tough, good for city summers. Unsure of the model, they're a few years old (Daiki Suzuki era).

Condition: good - minimal fading around the pockets, some wear to crotch but nothing visible

    APC - 40 (7.5) - $40

Fur-lined black boots with crepe sole. A bit small for me (sz 8) but should fit a 7.5 or 7.

Condition: OK. Sole is very worn (hard to tell but here's an idea: http://i.imgur.com/7eEqn.jpg), upper is in decent condition but leather could use conditioning, lining is fine

    Additional pics: One

    John Varvatos - unknown (believe sz 8) - $85

Reverse calfskin boots in a dark grey. Replaced the original shoe-style laces with leather boot laces, but will include both. Fits like a size 8.

Condition: good - leather in really good condition, little wear to the heel but nothing major

Additional pics: One Two (not my pic, but a good detail of the leather)

  3. Do any stores have any of the Makr wallets in stock? Their site is totally wiped out, but kind of feeling their flap wallets and card holders. Know Blackbird used to have them but don't seem 'em on their site, so I'm guessing that's a no go as well.

  4. i live there currently, going to grad school at CMU (which is right next to Pitt). i moved here from rural missouri so my perspective is certainly a bit different than most here, but it's an OK town. as mentioned already there isn't much in the way of stores - its basically h&m and this one place in shadyside that carries a few decent brands.

if you end up moving here, i'd suggest the shadyside, bloomfield, or lawrenceville neighborhoods (friendship, garfield, etc. too but they're so tiny i just lump them in with the aforementioned). sq. hill would probably be fine too but its a bit further and not really my personal cup of tea. i live in bloomfield and it's pretty ok, and i can walk to campus in about 20 mins (probably closer to 30 for pitt) or take the bus straight there (same bus goes to pitt). most bars i go to are walking distance from my apartment, and you can catch the 54C down to the south side if you're into more of a club scene.

feel free to hit me up if you got any questions.

  5. anything going on next weekend? i feel like i shouldve gone this weekend with ervell and +j, but fuckin cellular neurobiology kept me at home...

Wondering the same, driving in this weekend..

  6. I've got a Parker 3 piece razor I've been using for a little bit now usually with 7 AM blades. It's not the best razor (kind of a bitch to change the blades) but it does the trick and was cheap. My next razor will definitely be a twist to open style one.

In terms of soaps, I go Baxter of California face wash -> Art of Shaving Lavender Preshave Oil (let sit for a minute or so) -> "proraso" shaving cream -> Baxter of California aftershave balm

By "proraso" I mean the stuff they sell at bath and body works, which is made by Proraso but branded differently. From what I've read it's exactly the same as the Proraso green tubes. It's like $5, pretty cheap stuff. I just slap it on with my hands, but should probably get a brush...
