  2. i just found some pair of 5010xx (the old version) in 30 in my closet that have been worn between 5 and 10 times (i think..)
i bought them around 5 years ago and they are in perfect condition. how much might i get for them now? don't even remember how much they were lol.
hopefully someone else can break them in - they are just to great to end up in the trash

  3. Any have experience with http://www.lookmatic.com? Drunken friend caught me with a solid right to the temple and need new glasses.

Was looking at Tart Arnels or FDRs but 65-95$ for replicas sounds way better than 35,000 yen for just Tart frames + 1.5k for examination and lenses locally.

Is there a huge difference in quality between taking the empty frames to an optician here and getting lenses put it vs. getting a prescription / pupillary measurement here and sending it to the online shop? Cost would be way different (65$ for frames only + ~150$ for examination and lenses here vs. 95$ for the frames shipped with prescription lenses in)

-basically, if you send an accurate prescription will online glasses shops give you good lenses or are they cutting too many corners?

i bought some really nice tart arnels replica. i read they are basicly the real thing which you won't find anywhere else. handmade from italian accetate with functional rivets. i paid around 150$ shipped to europe but they might be more expensive in the US since they usually only sell to retailers. check out dolabany arnold. the website doesn't do them any justice. i can take a couple of pictures if you like.

for the lenses i went to an optician chain that would test my eyes for free but suggested 300$ lenses eventhough i said i wouldn't need to wear them often at all. i then took their test results and went to a local small optician and explained my needs. he offered me some lenses that he said where good but that the coating might not hold up as long. those lenses where around 65$ (both) and i was able to pick them up just 2 days later. i guess it's worth trying to find a smaller optician that doesn't try to sell you uber expensive lenses

i wear them more often now than i first planned to - cause they are so nice

  4. Hey guys,

was wondering if anybody knows a place that still sells the ray ban 5193 since they seem to be discontinued. All I found is this ebay seller of which I'm not sure if legit:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/RAY-BAN-Eyeglass-RB-5193-Col-2291-havana-size-50-New-/150848183298

also someone (team3d) in this thread said one could get the oliver peoples riley for about 130$ off ebay. the regular price might be a little too much for me, but I really like the riley and the sheldrake. any recomendations perhaps ?

I also found these: http://www.bonlook.com/product/simply-fabulous-brown can someone say anything about the quality ? also warby parker came to my attention.

    Thanks a lot !

  5. thanks for the fast reply.

I guess I ended up in the wrong thread after all.. (I only read 'printing' and my question was more about regular printing/photoshop issues)

still, why does ps behave differently regarding text than illustrator does?

sry for messing up this thread, is there a better place to talk about this?

  6. hope this is the right place to ask, otherwise i'm sry.

I was wondering which of the anti aliasing settings for text in ps will give the best result when printed.

Also what should the file be saved as?

I'd assume that as a pdf the typo would maintain its vector information. Is this the best way to print posters?

If that's the case, anti aliasing might as well stay 'none' right?

I just don't understand why PS cant display text as illustrator does (since text in PS is vector based too), while I know that after rasterizing there will be quality loss.

    any help is much appreciated!

    thanks

  7. been browsing through this thread for a while now.

since I can't afford the high_end stuff some of you are buying, I was wondering what some of you would recommend.

I've been usin ysl l'homme till now.

Before that I had prada amber pour homme, dior fahrenheit 32,..

I'm not much into the flowery fragrances; rather fresh.

I tried cdg 2, cdg 2 man and the 88 8 today. I liked the cdg 2 man quite a bit but am not sure if it really suits me. I'm only 20 and still looking rather boyish.

    budget ~ 100$

    thanks !
