Buga, can you find a Brannock device? If there's any "objective" standard in American shoe sizing, it's that device. You measure by the ball of your foot, not the toe. Anyway, Alden Indies are true to the Brannock - when means:

For me, the ball of the foot comes up to Brannock's 9.5. And with a 9.5 Indy on, it feels really comfortable! I wear thin socks, and a high-quality insert because Indies are flat inside. Anyway, a good fit with the Brannock made me love wearing Indies, whereas before, people here know I had a hard time getting comfortable with them.

i wear size 9.5 in cons ( the width on cons is pretty tight on me)

i wear 9.5 on dunks

i wear 10 on nike lebron basketball shoes

9.5 on y3

41.5 on diors

that's weird .

i wear 10 in cons ,

11 in dunk , and nike .

but we can both fit in 9 in 1911s............

hey buga they fit almost the same.. cause ont he 1911's theyve already stretched out quite a bit but from my memory the fit the same new so i suggest a size9 on indies

The Trubalance last gives you more width, not more length. The 1911s are longer than other Red Wings, but available only in one width, which is about D. So if you actually fit 9Ds in 1911s, then go for 9D in Indies. As always, you can't be sure till you actually try them on. So buy them from a vendor who has a good return policy, and wear them on carpet till you know for sure how they fit.

i concern more about the length than width as my foot are pretty thin .

1.as trubalance gives more width , not length .

2.and 9 in RW 1911s are like 9.5 with D width . (i feel good with the Length of it)

3.which means the length of 9.5 (in general) is good for me .

so i think i will go for 9.5 .

go for the same size as your 9d 1911 we have the same size andf i have a 1911 rw too

how do you find the difference between 1911 and Indy when they are both in 9 ?

as i found from searching ,

9 in 1911s is about 9.5 ,

and 9 in Indies is right about 9 .

I think 9.5 is good, but you could go for D too, since the Gentleman Travelers are equivalent to D width...

which means it is half size bigger than normal .

and in this case ,

9D of 1911s are the best to me (1911s are like half size bigger than other Red Wing shoes) ,

so should i go for 9 in indy (it is similar to 9.5 in general) .

1911 and 1914 are real nice ,

they are way better than red wing 8166 in my opinion .

for those 1911s and 1914s ,

i ordered 9D and 9.5D as the shop didn't stock full size run .

i found 9D is similar to 9.5D in Red Wing 8166 ,

and it fits me perfectly .

and 9.5D is slightly bigger than i would like ,

so i inserted an insole ,

and now the 9.5D fits me like the 9D does .

and GregNYC ,

i am just wondering should i go for 9.5E for the Indy ??

i am interested in getting a pair of Alden Indy and Red Wing 1911,

but i still wonder what size should i go for after doing some research on net .

In the Indy case,

i was thinking to get the Indy in 9.5D , as i wanted to wear thick socks with the Indy, and Trubalance last is about 1/2 size larger than regular . (i think i am a size 10 in most of the boots and leathers shoes)

The thing is i came across an eBay auction of Indy boot 9.5E, the seller measured the boots across the bottom , and he got 12.5 inches .

I measured my red wing 8166, and i got 12 inches .

so should i go down to size 9 for the Indy ?

In the red wing 1911 case,

people saying it is about half size / one size bigger than normal red wing ,

is it true ?

which size should i go for ?
