  1. you can check out starck eyes @ the mikli site for info and stocklists.

    http://www.mikli.com/desktop.php?file=FIL_SEARCH_STARCK_OPT

i got the P0690-01 (01 is the clear color)

congrats on the glasses. you'll definitely be neglecting any other pairs you've got in your rotation. however, i never really understood why people would choose to purchase, or why alain mikli would release clear frames. mikli is synonymous with coloured acetate and to spend the money on clear frames is a waste imho. but hey, whatever floats your boat. :)

  2. going to probably get a new pair of specs soon... leaning towards a pair of starck/mikli's.

is there any benefit of getting lenses from the mikli boutique? or would it be the same as getting only the frames from mikli boutique and getting the lenses from an optometrist?

i think the lenses are about USD 370 at mikli which is WAAAAY more than the optometrist...

good choice with the starck/miklis. contrary to what a lot of people say, the hinges on the starck/miklis are vastly more functionable than they are gimmicky. the "give" that the hinges exhibit have saved my pair on more than one occassion from walking into walls, bike accidents, getting elbowed in the face, accidently being sat on, etc., etc. i've had mine for 2 years and they've never needed maintenance. pricey, but absolutely worth every penny and it's something i use everyday!

i don't think there's any benefit at all from buying from the mikli boutique aside from exclusive frames or something of that nature. frames and lenses are most often purchased at the same time but i imagine you could get your frames from mikli and take your prescription somewhere else. you'd be forgoing bargaining power when purchasing frames/lenses together however.

  3. check out the st.lawrence flea market on sundays. lots of larger pieces outside when the weather gets nice. bring a vehicle. craigs is excellent if you're willing to put in the time. queen EAST (of broadview) has lots of nice stuff as well..much better than queenW imho. eq3 on king east has reasonable prices since you stated $ is a factor. bungalow on augusta in kensington has a large selection of teak in the basement at a mark up of course. i think the key is to slowly furnish your new place and not to compromise on a piece solely to have "something".

My aunt spent like 250,000 YEN. LOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

pm me if she needs another nephew.

  5. if i wasn't in tokyo, i'd be hitting up the onsens 24/7... so settle for some sento instead. kill a couple of hours in those things easy. or, get a bike and just ride around (i'm serious). or better yet. bike to the hosuewife's place! make a day trip of it. if she says no, bike around some more, hit up some remote sento/onsen and bike back! you'll be starving by the time you get back so it's either ramen by yourself or call up some buddies and hit an izakaya. btw, housewives ftw.

  6. haha..if you think singlespeed/fixed is bad, check out the roadie forums.

the regional boards on bikeforums are definitely better. if you want opinions from riders in your area, there's no reason to venture out to the main board. use the search function if you really need to know something. some of the larger US cities have started their own forums, so count yourself lucky if you live in one of those. have a nice ride.

  7. spectacle eyewear - 752 Queen West

they're OK... i've bought glasses from there but my discounted specs was the regular price at minh chau in chinatown. i know, i know, "chinatown" you say, but the staff is extremely friendly, they've got a great selection(and can order whatever) and it is chinatown, so bargain away. minh chau's at 305 spadina ave.

  8. boo, like a previous poster has stated, the shoes you're looking for are easily obtainable in toronto. do you have a hook-up? if you don't, pm me your size and i'll see what i can do.

and for the record: canada far from sucks. an understatement if there ever was one.
