  1. PBJs from Blue in Green; forget the exact model, but they're pretty slim. Earlier version in this thread and in Evolution.... back in Jan.

Worn maybe 40-50% of the time since late January of this year. Two or so warm soaks.

  2. yo will47 whats your true waist size?

im a 28 and i want to make sure 28's in xx-005 will fit me perfecto

I wear a 29 in most stuff... 29 in Skull & Nudie, 28 in Somét, 26 in APC. Haven't measured my actual waist size recently, but I think it's around 29 or 30.

  3. x-post from Skulls thread.....

Same ones from http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showpost.php?p=835823&postcount=2941, I guess about 20 months or so now, but not worn everyday. I haven't been wearing them that much recently, since they've been in need of repair. I'll post close-up pics of the Denim Dr. repairs / reinforcements when I get a chance.

One or two washes, and a couple of soaks.

  4. PBJs from Blue in Green. Not sure what model, though, but it's a slimmer cut. No washes, no soaks, and haven't started wearing them yet. I'm about 6' and 140 lb; these are a size 28. Not quite as tight as I'd like in the waist, so I might do a warm / hot soak (though not sure if it's worth it if I'll lose all that stacking)

  5. When I first got mine, they rise up sooo bad. Mooseknuckles and all. But now its way stretched out, giving me diaper butt. :(

Mine are pretty well worn in (been wearing them a fair amount, though not exclusively, for just over a year, but I still have a bit of a mooseknuckle. I'm not really into the saggy / anti fit, so maybe that's part of it, but they're still pretty tight (they're a 26 - 3 or 4 down from my true size), esp. in the crotch.

Everyone said they'd stretch a lot, and they have I guess, but they don't fit that differently. I don't really have the same problem with my other jeans (Somét, Skull, PBJ, Nudies).

  6. I have an important problem that I did not notice before.. I can't button them up. I don't know how I missed that but.. should I just sell and get another size. I can't return them because I got them through a proxy service.

How many buttons can you button up? Have you tried buttoning them while lying down, or stretching out the waistband a little?

If you can get the first couple of buttons done up, you're probably fine.

  7. if you're wearing a belt, you shouldn't have any problems...

    I don't usually wear one.

The other problem I'm having is that some of my boxers stick out over the top, bunch up and look really stupid, especially in the front.

  8. When the waist stretches out, does anyone find that the low rise becomes a problem (i.e., their ass starts hanging out, or the jeans start hanging _too_ low)? I am already not sure if I like the low rise, and have been thinking about exchanging or selling the Somets (I have black 008s in a 28); and while it's basically Ok right now, I am pretty worried about how they will look when they stretch a little in the waist.

  9. blue in green's measurements indicate that a 28 measures 31" (15.5 x 2), and my own experience with two pairs of somets bears out their sizing advice: go down one size. if you normally wear a 29, you should've bought the 28, it sounds like?

I was just at BiG, and the woman there gave me a 28. I wear 29 in Skull 5010s and a 26 in APC new Standards (I'm 6' and around 140 lb, give or take; pics of how these fit me in the "Evolution" thread).

For me, the tight model (with the darts) was a little too tapered in the legs for my taste, and the straight leg, slim cut model fit well. - both looked good, but the straight leg ones (I ended up going with black) looked better. In either case, the 28s fit pretty snug raw, but I could get the top button buttoned.

She said they stretch less than the Skull denim.

  10. thanks for the reply..but do they stretch much ? cheers..

Second the 28-29 recommendation. I have the NS in 26 (new and nut-hugger tight) and the Skull 5010 in a 29 - see the "evolution" thread for pictures of both. The Skulls were tight but button-able when I got them. They have stretched a little bit - I think I could handle a 28 in the waist, but I am still glad I went for the 29 over the 28. I guess it depends if you want to have children, and whether you like the "Superfuture fit".

  11. skull 5010xx vs. APC NC?

is there a comparison out there?

A visual one? I have some pics of some (new) New Standards. To me, the New Cures (even if I try on a 28 or 29 -- I got a 26 in the NS) are a very tight leg, whereas the Skulls are just kind of a slim cut. I think if I sized down, the New Cures would practically be skin tight. I tried the Somet slim cut jeans (the tapered leg ones) today at BiG, and to me, those are closer to the New Cures than the Skulls.

My girlfriend got the New Cures (some pics in the Raw for Women thread I think), and they look great on her. But for me, I think they're a little *too* fitted, and I'm a fairly skinny guy.

  13. I have some NS in a 26 (3 down from my usual size). Week or so of wear; no soaks yet. So far, they fit pretty well (managed to get the first button buttoned the day I bought them, but after a lot of effort), but are a little... uh tight in the crotch when I'm sitting down.

I'm assuming as the waist stretches, they'll sit a little lower and loosen up in the crotch, but am I going to get a perma-mooseknuckle (or become sterile) in the meantime?

  14. Awesome. Also, what are some other stores in LA that have APC's?

Barney's has them, I think (at least the New Standards and New Cures), but for some reason they don't ever seem to have anything smaller than a 29 or 30. Not sure if that's because they don't know about vanity sizing, or because everyone shopping there is thin and buys up the small sizes. The APC store had a much better selection.

  15. I am too tall to worry about stacking, but just wondering what do you guys do inside? I always take my shoes off when at my parent's house, or change to slide sandals when in my dorm room.

If I don't feel like having the jeans underfoot, sometimes I'll do a quick single cuff, just to get them out of the way. I've never found that to take too much time (and half the time I have one leg rolled up for bike riding anyway).

  16. awesome... when was the wash and how did you wash them? i'm doing the 5010xx contest right now and i'm about 3.5 months in with just a soak so far at around 2 months to get rid of smells.

The first real wash was last weekend; I'm trying not to be too overly precious about them, so I just washed them at the laundrymat in a regular top-loading washing machine w/ 2 other pairs of jeans (gentle cycle, warm wash, cold rinse, I believe), and some Dr. Bronners "Sal Suds" soap. I've given them a couple of warmish soaks without any soap before - once a few days after getting them (at the suggestion of Self Edge), nothing for a while after that, and then one or two times later when they got too gross.

Warmish soak, after a little bit (10/23, 9 AMish)... this is after about 6 months of wear probably. Yes, those are little spots of grease floating in the water already.

Same jeans a bit after 10:

  17. will, those look awesome. have the seams in the crotch area of the pants experienced any blowing out?

Yeah - a little bit - I'll try to take a closeup if I get a chance. I had a tailor repair the stitching in the crotch before it really came out, and had to repair the stitching around the front pockets and the patch on the back.

No holes yet (knock wood), except the one in the back pocket from this big button on my wallet, but I think I'm going to get one on the butt pretty soon from bike riding. My gf's, which are a tiny bit older than mine (see the Evolution thread right after mine) got a little hole already.
