  1. I'm going for almost 2 weeks... can't find any recommendations etc on here... I'm flying into Marrakech and will make my way up through Merzouga, Fez then Chefchaouen... any awesome stuff I should be doing, seeing, eating etc other than the obvious ones like go to local hammam and camp in the Sahara sand dunes which if all goes well I would do?

  2. headshots I'm definitely down and I'm pretty sure dansta would be too... we've been trying to organise meet up but it didn't happen... also depending on when it is I think rirawin and jeansnkicks are up for it too... let us know of the details here... dates, time etc :) hope to see everyone soon

  3. yeah it's quite central :) well if you and anyone else up for a catch up drinks, lunch whatever... let me know... I had lunch with a squirrel at Hyde Park today so that's the extent of my social life at the moment... haha OK I'm exaggerating but seriously today I had lunch with a bloody squirrel...

  4. Yep i can second that, if moving to London i would consider Stoke Newington. It has a village atmosphere and you can bike to liverpool street in about ten minutes. And if you like being seen then Dolston is just around the corner.

    Thanks! I'll have a look

  5. Depends how much your budget is and whether you are fussy about privacy. Someone from here suggested airbnb and it worked out well for me (be sure to go for the ones that are verified by airbnb and read the reviews), I also stayed at the Hosteling International on Amsterdam Ave which was really cheap and pretty good for the price, my brother has stayed at Jane Hotel which is pretty good as well. Good luck!

  6. I came with no flat, no friends, no job, no real plan and it's all fallen into place quite nicely. You definitely do need to be careful and persistent though because London is not an easy city. Is there a certain type of work you could see yourself doing?

Add no talent to that list and you got me! Persistence that I have and I'm really not a fussy person and not idealistic either in term of job... anything that's legal, pays the bills and allow me to travel a bit... might be able to negotiate on the legal thing if desperate

  7. jeansnkicks thanks for that moveflat link! I'm still waiting for my youth mobility visa as well to be approved (sent the docs last week)... dansta I'd be up for a meet up... in all honesty I have no idea what the hell I'm doing... no real preparation let alone a job... just blindly going and hoping for the best or more likely just hoping to stay off the street as long as I can... driven by stupid romantic dreams of old London... I can already see this plan go horribly wrong somehow

  8. Thanks dansta I am sort of moving in May... not sure yet for how long... if things don't work out I might only stay for a few months... but I'm hoping it would be at least for a couple of years... I was looking at hsbc the other day because that's what I'm using here but it seems you still have to pay monthly fees etc... might have another look I probably missed something... south and east London noted!

  9. ^ thanks heaps I'll look into airbnb... originally I was looking for a private room don't mind shared bathroom for anything less than $100. I just booked Hostelling Int for $49 a night share bedroom with 5 people on amsterdam ave hope to god it's not too dodgy! Still looking out for better alternative though.

  10. Can someone please recommend me accommodation that is cheap but clean and non dodgy in NYC or there is no such thing? I'm going there for the first time in November. I can't seem to find any accommodation that I can actually afford without selling my kidney.

I found a place that look alright on the inside and cheap but it's in east harlem (to be precise 124 E 117th St) probably not the best idea yes? no?
