  1. n24614962_32379308_1989.jpg

cameras been broken, but this wound up on some tabloid website hahaha

everyone's looking good, as always. can't say i have a favorite post/outfit from the past couple pages.. i can't decide!

this caught my eye though.. maybe because paris hilton's in it.. well not really. but i'm guessing, the OP knows Paris personally and was with her when this pic was taken.. or he just so happened to be at the same convience store when she came in?

  2. almondcrush, speaking english is not a problem. i think understanding some tagalog words is a must though. just the important stuff is enough. you shoud understand enough to know if people are trying to help you or saying bad things to your face.

see i wouldn't have a problem understanding the language. i've been surrounded by it and spoken to by my parents in tagalog since i was born so i understand pretty much all of it, i'd know if i was getting the run around and enough to where if someone was giving me a hard time in tagalog, i'd know.

i just have a hard time speaking it without sounding really.. (what word describes that?) americanized? the tone of my voice, the way i say the words, it's more.. i guess you can call it butchered? i know what i'm trying to say but the way i pronounce the words isn't the "correct" way, so i don't know if i'd be taken seriously if i attempted to speak it, but i understand just about all of it. i can converse with cousins and relatives and family with them speaking tagalog to me and me speaking in english back to them. it's mutual. we understand each other, most of my cousins understand english well because thats the lingua franca as someone said previously but they speak in tagalog more than 99% of the time but they understand english, just as us (as Fil-Ams) talk in english more than 99% of the time but we understand tagalog.

  3. makulay ang buhay? ^

a lot of the filipino(not fil-ams) hip-hop artists came from the slums thou, aka d-coy, apokalipsis, etc.

fyi I'm not familiar with gangs in the Philippines but all I know is a popular gang, True Brown Style 13, or TBS. You've probably seen their tags all around. Lots of people posin' as TBS too, so you never know who really is part of.

    a link i found: http://www.freewebs.com/tbs13westcoastmakati/aboutus.htm

link found on that site..

    top of the page says.."TBS13*WesTCoasT*Makati

WTF...Makati? meaning.. that's where this "gang" is from? Makati is full of 'ghetto' gangster pinoys?

you'll find more of these type of videos.. all the guys are in baggy tees, bandanas around their face, fitteds and tsinelas (flip flops) on their feet holding rifles and pistols in their hand. not that i have anything against it. if that's what they want to do with their lives, so be it. that's their own personal decision, but i think this is a bit much.

but really..what the hell is going on out there?

  4. so one question..

should you be UP on your tagalog speaking skills if you're going to be living there? (or could you get away with just knowing the language and communicating with them in straight english?) i understand all of it but i can't really speak it without sounding odd and weird.

i was there for 2 weeks.. and i remember one of the times i was out with my cousins and one of my aunts, we were walking through green hills waiting for my uncle to park so we could go get a bite to eat and ALL the girls approached me.. gave me the "flirty" eyes (not sure if they did that to everyone) and would say.."sir, bile na. maraming sizes. lacoste polo, sir. "

and i'd just walk by and stop sometimes to actually take a good look at the polo and the smallest sizes (the more fitted) were way boxy for my liking.. even if i was going to buy one.. and i replied with..

"napaka lake.. wala nang smaller sizes?" and i guess me being the Fil-Am that i am.. i sounded waaaaaaaaaaaay messed up and the girl was like..

"ay, napaka cute naman!" and my dad just laughed and my one 8 year old cousin in his best english says.."he's from AMERICA!" and everyone turned and looked at me. (excuse the spelling if it's wrong.. i did the best i could lol)

i understand the language.. basically everything about it, and i attempt to speak it but i just end up sounding weird to other people/my family so i just don't speak in tagalog. lol my parents were always like.."do your best to NOT talk in english..just don't say anything at all.. " and when i would speak english (of course being American) i would get SO many stares from people walking by me wherever we were in the Philippines. Makati, outskirts of Manila, the province, etc.

  5. Taxis havent given me any problems... Some got owned by me...

Some guys meter broke, and I had to take a ride from Recto station to La Salle Benilde, asked me how much I usually pay... BSed him sed 70, told me 90. I sed sure. Hit mad traffic, woulda at least cost 150-180, only paid him 100 haha. Im great...

But yea... I love it here, Im already used to the life style...

    So... Why not...

... so you paid about $2 for a taxi ride.. lmfao

i would have done the same damn thing.. but i don't trust taxi drivers or tricycle drivers.. my cousins told me to stay away from them when i was there.

  6. Those condos they are building above greenbelt sure are nice though...

On a side note, Michelle Madrigal??!?!??? That girl is SMASHING hot...did you really get to meet her?

i think what the OP said was that he hooked up with her after the club or something. i don't know.. she's not that bad looking.. there's hotter filipina women on ABS-CBN and filipino TV. lol but props to that.

as for the condos.. i TOO (along with a handful of you) was in the Philippines for a couple weeks starting June 19th till July 7th and got back yesterday (for those of you who know how the whole time system works out.. we left there at 7AM on Saturday their time (they're 13 hours ahead) and got to the states at 2PM Saturday (central time)).. the condos in Makati near greenbelt.. LOVE the area btw.. my uncle actually helped design parts of Greenbelt (he's an engineer) and we went around that area.. its completely different from the outskirts of Manila.. really it's like 2 different worlds. but those condos around there.. some of the leasing agents set up tables in the middle of the mall and they were handing out fliers and i got a brochure.. i should scan it some time and show you (to the original poster) but the prices were as follows..

pesos to $ is apparently about 46 PHL pesos = $1 US

    STUDIO: php 11,691 USD $255

    1 BR: php 13,194 USD $287

    2 BR php 28,248 USD $614

    2 BR (bi-level) php 30,140 USD $657

    2 BR loft php 40,169 USD $878

    i'm assuming that's MONTHLY.

these condos/apartments all range from 30 sq meters to 83 sq meters (not sure how that translates into square feet.. but the floor plans on the brochure look HUGE!)

i even joked around with my dad and said.."dad look at this shit.. okay so we (me and him.. i'm helping pay) just signed a lease in Chicago for $1515 a month split between 2 people (got a roomate so it's $757.50 each without utlitlities).. for $878 TOTAL here.. about what? $500-575 maybe total.. each.. with utilities and all that shit.. it's WAY cheaper for a 2 bedroom or any apartment in general in the Philippines in the RICH part of Manila.."

that really blew me away. i was shocked at how cheap living was. and this place apparently is going to have a fitness center and swimming pool along with a huge grand lobby and it's a high rise.. it's in the process of being built. (if you want the info i can scan everything and get it to you through PM)

in any huge US city.. a place like that would run you about $150,000 min. if you wanted to buy and about at least min. $2500 a month if you wanted to rent.

but realize what everyone is saying.. Makati is basically just like say.. a downtown of a big city.. of course it's nice.. but you'll have to go down way farther away and beaches like Boracay/Tagatay/Pagudpud to find something new/exciting and nicer than the outskirts of the city and without a driver.. you'll be going crazy trying to find things and know where things are. Manila is HUGE. luckily my family has connections and we were able to get a couple drivers to take us around for the couple weeks we were there.

    good luck with everything!

  7. I like this look; what brand shirt/pants are those?

i don't know about you.. but i just see a white vneck.. a somewhat oversized, kind of stretched out white vneck tee. i don't see what's so special about it and why you need to know the brand of a white tee.. not trying to be a dick at all. it's a good look, but it's such a easy, laid back, simple look to pull off.

go to the store, buy a white vneck one size bigger than you normally wear and you'll have the same exact look.:D

  8. a friend of mine can get me a MJ backpack at the store in San Francisco but before i get one.. i was just wondering..

i found this on a japanese website (i'm pretty sure it's LEGIT)

but there's a KIDS backpack and there's a regular one.. they look the exact same. is there a difference?
