  1. SDA-103- sized down one (slim, lowrise, still some space at thighs, leg opening is a bit big but refreshing, my favorite fit, could have sized down one more but probably with difficulty at waist)

APC NS- sized down 2 (slim with mild taper, medium rise, loose waist, size down 3 for tight fit)

Nudie Slim Jim Dry- sized down one (slim, lowrise)

Nudie Slim Jim Dry Greycast- sized down two (tight, lowrise)

Nudie Regular Ralf Dry Selvedge- sized down two (slim, medium rise)

Nudie Thin Finn Dry Stretch- True waist (loose waist and thighs, but too tight at calves)

Levi's 501 STF ($98) with selvedge- sized down 1 (normal, medium rise, could have sized down one more)

Levi's 501 STF (regular)- true to waist (too loose, horrible fit, bubble butt, could have sized down two)

  2. Talking about sufu indoctrination, I just got my first pair of Japanese denim. Got the same size as my Nudies (yeah yeah don't bash). SDA 103s are warm soaking right now... will possibly post fit pics tonight if I toss in dryer (still a bit hesitiant). I think I will do two hot soaks just to get more starch out.

  3. I am astounded by Masataka's outstanding service. Very polite and helpful. Quick response and shipment. Ordered them on Sunday and got them here today on a Thursday in California!

Thank you very much for the SDA's! I definitely order again in the near future.

  4. Some people are in shock/denial even when other people die. Imagine how much more devasting it'd be to know that you could have died yourself. It's not exactly something that sinks in after a few days. I think it'd be a life-changing experience for most people. But hey, I'm only a Kaiser bereavement councillor. Maybe you're right though. Some people are tough. He could just be a badass if you would like to imagine it so...

  5. Damn man, I hope you get better. You're seriously lucky to be alive. My cousin was hit by a car on his bike six years ago and was put in a coma. This shit scares the hell out of me.

I like how only 2 of the 20 posts on this thread show concern for a man that would very likely have died.. shame on you guys.

  6. my hotel will be in tokyo:eek:! from what i understand, osaka is really far... I guess I probably won't be able to get the 510vx. what would be the closest stores around tokyo? maybe if i have some time before i leave japan, i can arrange for osaka.

  7. Get the 510 VX. I've been stuck on them lately. Show us what they look like.

I'll see if i can find them, but I honestly will be rambling around with no idea where to get them. Also, I'd imagine that they're quite expensive, so I'd probably have to give up the 5000vx. I'll try to take pics in the store if they don't have my size for some odd reason.

  8. hey. i'm kind of a lurker here, but i thought i'd like to tell you guys that i'll be getting a size 28 or 29 in both the 5000vx and the 510 when i go to japan and hong kong during christmas and new years. i'm getting the 510s because i think everyone here tends to avoid it. i'll post pre and post soak fits of both when i get back to contribute to this samurai thread... also, i might be picking up some 004 pbjs in japan just to experiment.

i'll be hitting quite a few places, take5 in HK being the last, so expect more pictures of the store in the take5 thread...

also, if you guys have any suggestions on specific denim stores to go to in japan, please let me know because i'll only have 3 day of free time.

  9. hey,

i just got a pair of these. the manager at the levisstore says it's a new STF 501 Selvage, not sold online or anywhere else. retails $98. he said that they are 13.5oz, and that they are a quality between LVC (14.5oz he says) and the old crappy STF 501 nonselvage that retails for $46, (11 oz he says).

i used a 30% off coupon that the levisstore emailed to me (it's expired now) two weeks ago. yes, they are different from the $46 STF, Capital E's, and the LVCs. how accurate they measured the weight of their denim is questionable though... I guess i can post pictures when i break them in more, to see if it's really 13.5oz.

    hope this helps!
