Would be really easy and pretty cheap to put a thin rubber or even a cat's paw sole on the bottom of these I've done it lots of times . . . any good cobbler could do it.

^yup those are sweet. While on the topic of white's, I cleaned up my roughouts. Still have to have another go at the sole.
So sweet. What did you do, just order a pair of smokejumpers with a Christy sole from Bakers or something?

Always welcome some cooler riding jeans -- it's true those draggin jeans are . . . well, not ideal looking.
I picked up a pair of "zylon" edwins from Kushitani a few years back, they are dark and straight and basic.
Also have always been curious about "esquad" jeans, a french brand. They make "armalith" jeans and one of their new cuts is really basic and looks cool. Don't know anyone that has actually tried them though . . .
Can't wait to see these!

OK so who do I believe now?
The internet sure is hard sometimes you guys.
I'll just wear em and see what happens . . .

I have a question about my 666ODs . . . They have stretched out to conform to me great. Love them, even though the crotch blew out recently, Self Edge did a great repair.
The question is should I wash them more than regular jeans. With an OD Mister freedom CPO, I wash it regularly (it's a shirt so it stinks after just 1-2 wears. The black has worn off a bit an exposed some amazing bue denim with some black highlights on it.
If I wash the 666's now after only 4 months, will that help do the same thing? That is, wash off some more of the black and reveal more of the gorgeous blues underneath? Would love something similar that happend to the CPO to hit the 666's.

Really? How many people do you know that can tell if a shoe will look better with age when it is new and unworn? Unless the thread title is 'shoes that MAY look better with age but there is an element of speculation because we do not know for sure;. Anyway, that has been debated before in this thread.
I think most good quality shoes/boots do look better with age.
Anyway. I'm cool with seeing new shoes here. They generally will get better with age, unlike sneakers.

I've always interpreted the title of this thread as an encouragement. I've been reading since near the beginning and at that time Nike Dunks and the like were more prevalent. This thread was/is saying, "wear quality adult shoes that actually improve with age (for the most part), not disposable purple and green Nikes."
New or old, if the shoe will or does look better with age, it can go here IMO ~~~~

agree -- natural or brown edge trim, brass buckles and those are perfect. Half sole for me.

Actually, According to Igor Chudov here, Aluminum will not spark at all. So maybe they were specially designed for riding safely and spark-free?

sorry must spread rnr. Repping you in spirit right . . . now.
Corcoran group buy. Triple leather + cat's paw, natural midsole, tan left shaft, organic japanese brown dye right shaft, taupe sueded horsehide (not shell) toe, with all eyelets (flat waxed laces), a black scotch grain buckle across the foot, then a Mr. Freedom style one higher up. Deadstock buckles of course, brass on top then nickel on the bottom.
What toe shape though hmmmmmm

Dude, I just picked up 3 pairs of corcorans. Did you see the new corcoran Japan model? Low profile toe, huge triple leather sole, and some deadstock cat's paws soles on top of that. They're a bargain at $600. Where to cop now?
HAHHAAAA love rnr. Triple leather with cat's paw that's classic. +rep

I just picked up a pair of Roy slim fits from SE, sized down 1, and they fit really well, pretty close to my old 5010's.

The black soles on the #8 longwings are double oak leather also, they are just stained darker. Do what demonito is saying to lighten them up or bring them to a cobbler who does it for a living!
Nice brogues tho! Dark soles look more classic on those if you ask me anyway.

What's the watch? Do you work @ Sea World?
Looks like an IWC 3717 maybe?

I'll definitely be picking up another pair of 5010's when they roll out. I suppose those will be in the "new" smoother denim rather than the Texas denim mine are made of?
Bottom line is the fit of a 5010 is the best fit of any jean out there on me. I might even pick up some bigger sizes for when I get older and fatter
Maybe they will use poly-core thread on the new ones so they don't need repairs so often though. Anyone have info?

Here are my old Justin combat boots that just got back from the cobbler:
These are beautiful and define what this thread is really about. What a first post! +rep

With any luck, I'll get to soak my Midnight CPO tonight. Really curious to see what the shrinkage on these is like...I hope its big time
My Midnight CPO was bought one-wash, but I gave it a warm run through the machine and dryer. It was a L, and ended up closer to the size of the raw M. Still a touch more room in the body than the raw M tho. Perfect for me.
So . . . a lot of shrinkage. I want to wash this shirt a lot, as the edges of the material should start popping brighter blue the more it is worn and washed.
what an amazing shirt, and much more versatile to wear with jeans than the denim CPO or regular denim MF shirt!

When you lowside your triumph avoiding a Forerunner that cut you off. And when the paramedics are hovering over you in the middle of the intersection . . . all you can ask over and over . . . is "how are my Samurais?
They scuffed but didn't tear.

I need to grab these -- I've always had trouble trying to size down 1109's to keep them slim as possible at the leg opening -- so maybe now I can get my proper waist haha
