  1. For raw: If you're a 6, I'd go with a 3. If you're more of an 8 or have larger thighs, go with a 4.

When I was a 7, a 3 fit fine, but now that I'm more of an 8, I find that it's too snug in the waist and thigh.

  2. I found a pair of Academi's in a slim cut. I'd never heard of the brand before, but I liked the feel of the denim and the price was right for experimentation. I've been looking for a cut that was straight but higher rise than my Linda's and these fit those requirements.

(excuse the cuffing. I'm waiting to soak them and see how they shrink in length before deciding if I need to get them hem or just stack)

I think the butt part looks weird because the denim's still hard and crunchy, so hopefully it'll calm down after it gets more wear.

  3. I'm done working on my bike. I can't decide if I should take the rear brake off or not. I have a freewheel on the other side, but I never use it.

Why you shouldn't wear raw denim when riding a white saddle:

  4. Looking to buy my first bike. I've got a shitty huffy bike from kmart right now (gathering dust for years) so this will be my first major bike purchase.

I would go with the Option 2: Peugeot. If the frame has no dents, rust on it, that seems to be a fair price (for LA anyway). I think I got my old road bike for that price off of CL. There's nothing wrong with an old road bike. Mine is probably older than I am. Bought a new rear wheel (kept the tires b/c the guy who sold the bike to me put on new tires already), crankset, bottom bracket, track chain and now it's a nice fixed gear bike =)

  5. hollaforadolla, I wasn't too intersted in the grey's, but now that I see them on you, they look good! Maybe a bit tight in the thighs and higher, but hey, if you're a girl, that looks good. If you're a guy...um...nice tucking?

  6. soepom, what's kway chup? That bown of giant fat noodles looks good. Almost like wonton noodle soup, minus the wonton.

valhalla what's that on your thousand year old eggs? I actually packed some for lunch today too, with some nice cold rice porridge.

  7. It was hot today, so I made myself a cold lunch. Hiyakko tofu (featuring natto, mustard, soy sauce, green onions, fried red onions), salted edamame, cold soba (with a ponzu-based sauce), and cucumber salad dressed with rice vinegar and sesame seeds.

  8. it def seams like alot of the actual raw stuff is catered to the skinny girls. my GF has been lurking as well looking for something raw that would complement a thick girl with a 32 waist and hasnt found much.

How about the geishas? When I tried them on, they seemed a bit roomy at the waist and I have pretty big hips (34?) so maybe they'd be flattering on more curvey girls.

I would suggest the Skull Lindas, but they're pretty low rise so unless they stretch out, you might end up with muffins.

The BF has a pair of Skull 5010's and when compared to my Lindas, the cut and denim are almost identical. The only difference is that the 5010s are a slightly higher rise which means: no muffin tops.

  9. Oh man, I LOVE pho. I can eat it all day. My personal record is eating it 3 days in a row, 3 meals a day. And I still wasn't tired of it.

Lucky for me, I live pretty close to the San Gabriel Valley, which has a pho restaurant on every block, it seems. The best I've had so far is at Golden Deli, but I don't go there much because the wait to get in is insane and it's ALWAYS crowded no matter what time of day it is.

There are some veggie/vegan pho places around LA as well as some yuppie ones, but it's just not the same.

My favorite is pho with flank, steak, tripe, and tendon. I don't know why, but I always order tendon and like the first couple of bites, but by the end of the bowl, the texture just seems disgusting and I can't eat any more of it.

My family makes chicken pho with thick flat noodles and that's pretty damn good too.

  10. The Sling & Stones Spring line is being released at Self Edge within the next few days..

We'll have all the cuts for women, including a new straight leg cut, and we'll even have some in selvedge this time around!

    :)

I tried on a few pairs of the selvage Rachels (I think? They were in a box by the desk) and could not find the right size. Tried on sizes 30 through 28. While they fit well in the legs, they were all too loose in the waist. But then when I tried on a 27, I couldn't even get the jeans up past my thighs. The guy working there (the one with the really super tight skulls) said it was because they were a boy cut so they should be slouchy .

Maybe I'll wait for Kiya to put some pics up of what they look like on other girls. I couldn't tell if they fit me right or if I just couldn't find the right size.
