  1. Not sure if I missed something in that case... are you referring to this thread (Denim in Seoul)? Cos the last post there was more than 2 years ago....

Otherwise, this thread about Seoul has a lot of discussion about places to drink and party, but I couldn't find anything related to the topic I'm asking about - I searched the thread and even read through the last 50 pages of the 170 or so there.

Could you possibly point me in the right direction if you know where the info I'm looking for is? Thanks a lot.

  2. Hi

I arrived in Korea about a month ago and have been trying to find a decent place to pick up some new jeans, but haven't had much luck... does anybody know of a decent store in Seoul or the surrounding area (I'm in Gyeonggi-do) ?? I thought that owing to the close proximity to Japan the place would have a wide selection of denim bars and niche stores, like Tokyo or Osaka, but that doesn't seem to be the case..?!

I've stumbled across a few places that stock Evisu, but it's always their cheaper (non-selvedge, not sure of it's name) line. I'm not after anything really rare or premium - while Samurai, Skull etc. would be nice, brands like Evisu, Nudies, LVC are all okay by me.

There are a few threads already on Seoul but they're quite old and don't contain much useful info so hopefully someone will have something more up to date to offer?? Of course a weekend trip to Tokyo isn't gonna break the bank but I'd rather find somewhere local if possible.

    Thanks

  3. If anyone's still desperate for a copy, my local bookshop had 4 copies when I was there this morning - I'd be happy to send them to the US/Europe for £15 a piece. PM me if you're interested.

Chicken - I found a copy for myself at Asahiya in Ikebukuro last week, and at the time there were another 2-3 copies on the rack. Maybe the branch you checked is frequented by an army of denim enthusiasts?

  4. There's a Hinoya store in Osaka aswell. I don't remember the address, but it's only a few minutes from the big Loft store! You have to go upstairs from the street level to enter, but you can see the name from the street. I went in just to look around as I found the store by accident whilst wasting time waiting for a friend, but even so the staff were really helpful and attentive, so they can probably recommend you something to try.

  5. did you size down on those? how many ?thanks

    What size are those?

They are size 32. I usually wear a 33, but as my S5000BK in 33 stretched to the point that they fall down without a belt, I thought that a 32 might be a future-proof investment! They were pretty painful to wear the first day though, as I could only just button them before they were washed.. I'll try and get some more detailed shots in a bit.

  6. Yeah, that was my intitial suggestion as well after seeing the fit pictures from other members here. She found these much more comfortable and flattering though after trying them both on - her hips are large compared to the rest of her body, and the Linda's were just too restrictive.

Also, she said that the staff at the Skulls shop in Tokyo were pretty helpful, by the way, if anyone is thinking of going there..

    shouldve gotten the linda imo..
  7. Haven't seen any girls wearing the 5010XX yet, so here's a shot of my girlfriend from last weekend:

She was into the idea of raw denim before getting them, but the stiffness of the fabric put her off a bit when she got them. After a bit of gentle persuasion however, and a few days of activity in them, they are a success :D

    Edit:

Might as well show my 5507XX after about 6 weeks while I'm at it:

It's odd that I have more creasing and noticable (if you look closely at least) fading on my right leg.. not sure why that is, but never mind..

  8. I think that the obvious solution is to ride bmx instead. If you're too tall to sit down and pedal on what is essentially a child-size bike, you don't have these kind of problems. I'm sure the funny looks I receive riding a pint sized bicycle are pale in comparison to the embarassment of having a shiny blue crotch on a pair of otherwise dark jeans. Probably.

  9. Uh...oh, Samurai natural indigo dye.

I just saw these on the Samurai site and wondered if somebody else might have already.

I like the sound of this - The ear part twists the gold thread and the silver thread in the red lame yarn and is packed, special has become [serubitsuchi] with luxurious gorgeousness. I don't think I've ever owned a pair of jeans that have exhibited "luxurious gorgeousness" before...

Good job I'm off denim until Christmas at least, because these are too tempting. The Samurai denim pen-case with red tab is a nice bonus too!

  10. hrmmm...no clicking here..thanks for the help though. Can the locked zipper take any pressure before unlocking?

The lock does work, I had the same pair before - make sure you're pushing the zipper down far enough, it'll only lock when it's almost pointed towards the floor. Mine never came undone when the zip was locked.

  11. I've recently booked a return flight with Emirates from London to Japan for £400 including taxes; the only catch is that you can't land in Tokyo, but either Nagoya or Osaka. Details are here if you're interested - http://www.gendai.co.uk/en/component/option,com_flights/task,showFlights/airline,EK/id,26/Itemid,2/

My girlfriend is Italian, and when she left a couple of months ago (she's working in Tokyo at the moment), she flew with Austrian Airlines. She's flown with Alitalia and BA in the past, and said there isn't that much difference between them, regarding comfort/food etc. in economy class at least.

  12. how do you break in an already broken in jeans? jesus christ..

Show some humility dude. I've only been posting here a few months, and even I remember you being the superdenim clown. Buying every pair of jeans you're able to get your hands on, most probably in a flawed attempt to score cool points with those you namechecked in your other post, doesn't automatically qualify you to lord it over others in such a patronising way..
