  1. are those dukes repros? haha

they definetly used some ideas from imperial.

i still feel imperial's stitching and details are superior to that brand.

damn those black dukes look good.

i already own a pair of indigo dukes and have been searching high and low for a pair of nice blacks.

kinda wished i bought the black one instead.

black jeans are harder to come by as compared to indigo ones.

    oh well!

  2. hey TiP and swooc.

thanks for the assistance and vocab lessons.

yup bears only carries the indigo ones.

one of our fellow SFers bought a pair from a parachutes (a japanese hook up), who got them from a store in japan.

and the total cost is around 20% less than what BiG is offering.

guess i'll be messaging parachutes real soon.

i have no experience ordering through a hookup but hope it goes smoothly!

TiP, i may have to render your assistance once it happens. haha

  3. my dukes were tight initially but not much effort needed for buttoning up.

yup guess i'll have to choose between a 30 and 31 for pbj.

oh okay. looking for a japan hookup as well.

    i am actually from Singapore.

and from here BiG is really overpriced.

    sorry but whats hiatus atm?

  4. many thanks swooc.

very informative reply, especially when i own a pair of dukes.

my waist size is around 32.6" / 83 cm

    and i wear a 31" dukes.

hopefully the 31" PBJs will work for me.

by the way, did you get yours from BiG or a middleman in Japan?

  5. they all look alike. i swear they hire within the family.

its a good family to get into man.

comes with a free supply of sugarcanes, skulls and april77s.

there are some skinny people here man. size 27/28? wow

  6. i like the SA with the short hair though. damn cute. If i can get discount i wouldn't mind, haha! I just came back from Belief. Nothing much over there if you ask me.

edit: he has a wife i guess, saw a older looking lady at the shop. sorry if you're here! =P

haha yeah i do remember seeing some cute salesgirls working there.

  7. Wahahahh if I were to do that, I reckon I need to turn on all the air-con in my house........

I guess your jeans were drenched after you are done with the cleaning................

A consolation though....... it is written in some magazine or news article that male persperation (Eau de Sweat) attracts the opposite sex icon10.gif....... so has anyone really score with more chicks when they are wearing their unwashed jeans???

the only female i managed to attract with the smell of my jeans is my mom.

she's constantly nagging about how they stink and why i should wash them.

and i am going '6 months 6 months'

  8. TIP: I totally agree that the construction workers have the nicest jeans on the island. Catwhiskers, honeycombs, vertical fading, mud, etc.

Maybe we should pass them a decent pair of selvedge denim for trashing and take them back after 6 months.

  9. franklin: those look great on you. dont worry they'll stretch out about 2 inches at the waist. i fitted exactly like yours in the beginning. now i find it a wee bit too baggy. suddenly i realised i enjoy my jeans being tight.

just be easy: oh yeah. i had to change my t-shirt sizes after i got my first pair of selvedege, dukes. slim is good!

  10. oh its no wonder they turn out almost symmetrical

cos the side where i always put my cellphone, it has a slightly different distress pattern from the other side.

oh well.. were supposed to trash our selvedge jeans arent we? haha

so cheap how do you carry around your everyday stuff like keys and cellphone?

  11. winning tailor.. hmmm the name suggests some quality. haha

tweedle, dont know about the other tailors but i insisted dr. johns return every gram of denim back to me. haha

i had it shortened by around 2.5' but the left overs were like only 2.4cm long.

cos he had to fold them in and sew over to restore the original look.

so i guess there's probabaly not enough material to do patching.

    but at least there's some.

  12. Sweetmofo,

How is the workmanship of Dr John?

Does he use the thread that closely matches to the original thread’s colour and the thickness of the stitch match the original stitches out from the factory?

You are right, any inseam longer than 34' is just not for average singaporean.

I have seen many denim hemming that are just awful. People just don’t care about all these details and that ruined the denim. Maybe not the fault of the denim owner but the tailor that did the hemming just doesn’t bother.

the workmanship of Dr John is pretty good.

the thread he used is looks almost identical to the ones on my dukes.

just that its not chain stitched.

yeah its hard to come by good tailors in singapore.

most of them are of older generations and dont really understand what you want.

but dr john is fine. he is experienced (he claims that he has hemmed diors, haha).

    and most people recommend him.

PS: dont hem too much raw denim usually shrinks!
