  1. Lets talk about stealth. Ref.

Anything else out there like this. Anti-Thermal/Infrared stealth wear. I want to be completely undetected by infrared cameras/goggles.

Well, that woman is very far from completely undetected, but I bet you could achieve a similar effect if you took some emergency blankets (the kind you take backpacking) and integrated them into a scarf.  They act like infrared mirrors, so perhaps line one side of the blanket with a thick fabric to obstruct this effect and hold the other against your body.

  2. Do you have pictures of those? I'd be interested if they fit the bill.

Shot with a crummy phone camera, so they're a bit washed out:

Brown #700 sole, MP toe, brass roller buckles (not nickle, as they may seem in the pictures). Worn indoors while I mulled over the fit. There was the temptation to just go on wearing them with extra socks, but that seems impractical for boots you'll have forever. I really like them, so the decision was difficult.

  3. ^milosz - in my opinion, I wouldn't bother with wasting the $100. I had custom White's SD's in a size 8D and they fit perfect. I ordered a pair of pre-owned Wesco Boss' in an 8D and they fit exactly the same.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers!

What's more, it's a good opportunity to throw off the sizing if something goes wrong. I've learned I have a strangely shaped heel (or back of foot above this) that made my footprint appear to be 9.5EE instead of the 9EE they really are.

(I'll be looking to pass my bosses on in the near future, if anybody in 9.5EE is looking for a pair)

  4. I've owned brown SD with a single leather sole for three years now. They look great and are more comfortable than anything else I own. If I'm not at work, the beach or the gym, I'm probably wearing these.

The trouble is, I wear the soles out each year. They are ready to go back again right now, as I've worn through one of the soles again. The solution, I suppose, is to own another pair of something you like just as much, so you can at least distribute the wear.

I don't doubt rubber soles have a three year lifespan all on their own, but Whites boots turn into Frankenstein shoes awfully quickly once you start stacking layers beneath them.

  5. 5 months turn around...plenty of time to get excited

Love the color. I like the leeway boat shoes and moccasins tend to receive in breaking away from the browns and blacks of most leather shoes.

On an unrelated note, has anybody else had to get used to the sound of shoe trees settling in the middle of the night? Sometimes it's a little eerie hearing what could almost be a quiet footstep in the corner of my bedroom at 3am.

  6. Dated April 12, 1944 these boots are still looking pretty good and going strong for their age. Pretty crazy to think less than two months after these boots were made the invasion of Normandy began. The original soles and laces still have a lot of wear in them.

    Impressive. Do you wear them?

M1943 rough worn 11 months almost every day, dubbed over last week. Still using the original soles on these too. Very tough.

These look great, too. Are they a repro?

  7. Hi guys need some help here.. Can obenauf lp be applied to the redwings gt? I have read in the redwing website that featherstone leather should be cleaned with leather cleaner then polish with shoe creme to give it the shine.. Is there a 'correct' way to go about taking care of the rw gt? Ive have read in thread about people polishing their gt with obenauf lp..

You're all mixed up. Obenauf's is an oil that penetrates and conditions the leather, keeping it from becoming brittle. It is similar to Pecard's or any other product that calls itself a conditioner, though each has different qualities. A polish is a mix of waxes designed to sit on top of the leather after being applied and take on a shine after buffing.

Get yourself some stiff horsehair brushes. Use one to brush off any dirt or grit clinging to the boots at the end of the day. If you want to polish them, pick up a tin of Kiwi (bleh) or Angelus in an appropriate color at your local pharmacy or shoe store. Draw the polish from the tin by rubbing it briskly with a sponge slightly damp with hot water and apply to the leather. Try a few coats, mix colors, burnish the toe, go hog wild. After the wax has sat for ten minutes, buff it with a horsehair brush to bring out the shine.

If you want to condition or waterproof the leather, then you look to products like Obenaufs, Pecards and Snoseal. Once is usually enough to last a year or more.

  8. i just let it hang my trousers or jeans will cover em up so no worries as long as they dont touch ground.. when you do bike you gotta tuck it in or make sure the lace is pretty short

When riding, do you match your jackets to your boots, or mix it up?

  9. on the MF boots,i wear a 10.5 eee in alden405s and i went with an 11

That's interesting that you can fit into D width boots with triple E feet. As a 9 EEE/EE, I've written off wearing any footwear that doesn't come in widths greater than D, including most repro pieces.

  10. I usually don't post much, but since him/her are donating 100% proceeds to restoring natural habitat for our youth. I thought I give him a shout. He claims its a MF product & I am by no means a expert, but it looks like something he would make.(just a lot cheaper) Unfortunately, I have no need for it.

His shop sells vintage items as well, right? It could have been sold by the shop without being a Mister Freedom design.

  11. this is probably a long shot, but i might as well ask- are there any shoes that have been posted/praised on this thread that retail under $150? thanks!
