  1. I have two pairs at 4 months. I have read Poly's new found love for machine washing.

Besides the shape is stretched there is little reason (ok and I miss the stiffness) to actually wash the jeans, they are not all that dirty and I like the look of road salt.

Is there any logic for doing another soak? Or stick it out and get to 6+ or never wash?

Will a cold or hot soak do anything? Will a soak with no mechanical agitation produce any contrast?

    So, wash?

    SO, soak (hot or cold)?

    So, do nothing?

  2. Go to North, Milwaukee, and Damen, the heart of wicker park, used to be very artsy and now is kind of a mish mash of everything. On north, just past the intersection is a place called Spring, good shit. Earwax Cafe is cool, that is just south of the intersection, just have a cab drop you off there and walk around, there are tons of places to shop and eat right there.

  3. Ill chime in for a buck three eighty's worth of hot air....

First, I totally respect Kiya, and most likely will patronize his store, most likely for years and years.

Gap fucked up on this, I think they saw a trend (raw or something like raw, japanese denim) and wanted to ride the wave. The unfortunate part is most denim heads care very much about other things (the things they left out for the most part on the Goughs), like cut, treatment of rivets and the pristine nature of the denim its self. BUT....these were never $300 jeans, they were not small scale production, and for $15 a total deal. For those of us that can not spend several hundred dollars on a pair of denim right now, it gets their feet wet, an appetizer for the tasty lines that SelfEdge and BIG deal in....Like wearing french cuffs on a shirt, or the waterfall effect of a Neopolitain sleeve head (copied to death, but aint nothing like the real thing), these "fake" "Japanese" "selvedge" "jeans", that I am currently wearing, serve their purpose well, I feel they are a good value, they wear and look different than oh, say 99.908% of all the shit people wear.

I cant wait for my financial climate to allow me to wear what you sell, and I will buy from you, I totally agree with your philosophies and most of your attitude of exclusivity and appreciation for the artistry that is put into the denim you sell.

    BBBUUUTT

I would recomend a little graciousness Kiya, as the Gough, at least in my case, have helped to create a lusty customer for you when the finances warrant...

    My BUCKTHREEEIGHTY

    sorry for the spelling...haha.

  4. The Goughs, use a much heavier slubbier denim than the Morrisons. I have no idea what weight the Gough is, but it is much thicker than the latter. The morrisons also fade faster, I have worn my Goughs every day for 1.5 months, I have worn my morrisons for 4-5 days, and there is more wear on the morrisons (I didnt push them like I have my Goughs). The morrisons are cool and have some real nice details that are no on the Goughs, but the denim is not the same league.

  5. What kind of music you looking for? I cant speak to dj shit, but for bands I can...

In addition to Wicker Park, I would go to Lake View or Old Town (more yuppie, but there is some cool shit). Due north of the loop.

    For Bands:

    The Empty Bottle

    Double Door

    Subterranean

    Schubas

    Metro

    The hideout

A couple of those are local secrets (not telling which though), Schubas is the best in general as is the empty bottle. I tend to like music you cant dance to. Get the Reader or Red Eye and check out what is going on, they are to be found all over the city.

Trotters is the best food in Chicago, so if money is no object, book a table there.

  6. The comment was to "Win back the denim consumer", we have seen others do this recently (DDL using cone selvedge, sub $100 range). If they care, they should listen. I think it is logical and reasonable.

  7. Not really. I got my first pair in a 33, the waist fit was good at first and stretched out fast, the waist shrunk very little (after a 3 hour hot soak and a lightly heated dry in the bathroom under heat lamps). The issue is not the waist so much as it is the fit in the ass and below the knee. I got a pair of 32's and I like the fit everywhere much more. I do not intend on washing these much, if ever, so if you can squeeze into them and get the fit everywhere but the waist, you will stretch the waist out pretty fast.

  8. Forget what I said about the 800 line(that said my local store had 2 pair and 2 pair only), I went to the store to pick some up I put on hold...they had like 25 pairs, in pretty much all sizes...$15 bucks. If you are having trouble finding these, just ask, Ill tell you where these are and you can call and have them shipped to you...

  9. Damn, these things have totally flown off the shelves. If you call the Gap 800 #, they can locate your size in any state, so then they will connect you to the store and you can have them ship them to you for $5. Most sizes are gone, and gone everywhere...so if you want some, call the number and get them, they are 15$ everywhere so for $20.00 your set. Oh, you also need the product ID # which is 445212-00-1, if you ask for Gough's, they will have no idea what the hell you are talking about. My a FYI.

  10. I checked them out today, I dont want to sell them. Ill give them away to anyone that thinks that they will wear them. I dont want to bugger around with taking pics or posting on Ebay. So, here is the deal, they are basically beat to hell, a hole in the knee, a tear in a pocket, and some fraying at the bottoms of the cuffs...pm me, when I get the chance (Tuesday), Ill ship them to you...FREE.

I think I would rather just give them as a gift!

  11. I ve gotten many new chapters underway, I found them at the bottom of the closet, nice slim cut, but 5 inches too big in the waist. Seriously e-bay them? You think some one would want my hell beat old RRLs?

  12. So, now that I am infected by you bastards for the taste of raw denim....

I have a pair of 12-13 year old RRL's (wow so much has happened since then...I am old), they are beat to shit and faded, they are also way too big (lost 70 lbs), they are tagged a size 38, they have a hole in the knee and all fading is all me....

Should I toss these? Patch them, do something with the waist? Give them away?

I have a lot of history in these (like 6 months of in patient rehab)

SO, if yall have any ideas of what to do with these beat up, too big, RRL's, please chime in?

    DONT EAT THE MINTS
