Ladies high end repro vintage denim

Some very interesting posts here guys that I need to reread and absorb. My wife has the LVC 701 ladies jeans and we have been looking at the Groovin High 701. The TCB looks interesting. Whatever the history, I'm not sure about the option of mens denim and my good lady even less so. She has a lovely curvy lady shape, and if the thighs and seat fit then waist will need a big belt and a lot of gather. It just doesn't work from experience I'm afraid. Maybe I believed the marketing too much but I thought this is what led to the first ladies jeans in the 1930's.
  3. I wonder if anyone can help. My wife is looking for some high quality 701xx type repro denim. She's got a pair of LVC and we were going to get a pair of Old Devil Moon but they've sold out in her size and unlikely to make more. Ideally she'd like the earlier type with cinch back. We don't know who makes what but really would like high end. We're familiar with at least some of the cheap UK/EU ladies makers, and without wishing to be rude, not interested in those. The usual high end Japanese makers with authentic cut & details and Japanese selvedge denim would be great! I thought there was already a thread on this topic but I cant find it now!

Well as above yesterday I washed my 1001xx 1950 25th Anniversary on a 40 delicates wash which in my machine gave the 45 mins in the washer. Then I hung them on the line to dry and as they were still a bit damp around the pockets come bedtime I popped them in the airing cupboard overnight. I ordered 34 waist (all numbers are inches) and when they arrived they were tagged 34 waist and 32 leg, and measured 36 waist and 34 leg. after my gentle wash they now measure slightly under 34 waist, 31 leg, so I'm left feeling these puppies shrink like crazy! Don't know what you taller guys do who like to turn up and show some selvedge with Warehouse denim! Anyway, I'm not particularly tall and might give them a wear today, but glad I didn't go a 60 wash! Should I expect a lot more shrinkage?

I decided in the end to start gentle and I've washed them on a 40 degrees dedicates wash, no soap and just hung them on the line to dry. They seem a lot smaller already, though I'll measure when dry. Lets see where we go!

    Thanks Topnotcher, that answers that!

Cheers for the replies gentlemen. One other question, do the 46's have redline selvedge? The mustard colour on my 1950's was something I hadn't properly absorbed when I ordered mine...

I want to soak my 1950 25th Anniversary (Banner denim) but Googling and searching here, I'm a left confused. I'd like maximum shrinkage out of the way and minimum dye loss, as most of us do I suppose. Do I cold soak, warm soak, wash at 40 degrees, or wash at 60 degrees (both no soap clearly!) or something else?

I think I will soak mine after seeing Topnotcher's pics. I dont want loads of shrinkage - I want a vintage fit. Doesn't look to any dye lost, is that correct? Much shrinkage in leg length? Topnotcher, I notice you still have the 25 year anniversary tag on, did the wash diminish it much? Oh, and did the wash remove the denim ghosting on the removed arcs and close up the removed stitch holes on the red tab? Cheers

Thanks for the reply Broark. I sure hope they hold up. I find holed and shot pocket bags really annoying and, in my experience, not easy to get a good repair. Anyway, I've sorted the red tab and arcs on mine too, relatively straightforward job. I did however nearly have kittens on each of the arcs that I was taking the wrong one off! But all worked out happily in the end though. Just figuring out what to do about the 25 tag. I'm more interested in an authentic 50's look for my rockabilly life, but seems a shame to cut the tag off. Also debating whether to soak or wear raw for a bit. I normally wear raw, but I think a soak on these might help get rid of the ghosting of the removed arc's and also help close up the holes on the red tab. Somehow I got it in my head the selvedge is red or at least pink line on these, but looks mustard to my eye.

My 25th anniversary arrived today and my first pair of Warehouse denim. I usually wear Sugar Cane '47's and Lee Archives '48's and '54's. I have previously worn and largely given up on LVC due to consistent blown crotches on anything other than LVC Japan and other issues such as ripped pocket bags before first wash. Issues which haven't occurred with SC or Lee Anyway on the Warehouse 25th Anniversary (I went for the 1950) I love the denim and the cut, but the leather label feels a bit spongy and the pocket bags a bit thin. Are these problems areas on WH or am I worrying needlessly?

Looks like I've answered my own question. Looking at the Warehouse website for the 25th anniversary the tag size is post shrinkage: 92m = just over 36inches

I've not bought Warehouse denim before and I suspect I'm about to ask a Warehouse newbie question thats somewhere in the preceding 299 pages, so apologies in advance... anyway the usual sizing question... is the tag size pre or post shrinkage? I usually wear Sugar Cane '47's or Lee archive denim and buy 34 waist in both, but I'm getting the impression Warehouse run very small and I should buy 38 waist!! Please help as I'm very confused!! And as someone who's battled with their weight and lost 7 stone after the last few years I have a mental block buying large tag sizes! I really fancy a pair of 25th anniversary either 46 or 50, or go mad and get both! Cheers
