i'm scoping out hotels in bangkok and phuket and need some help..

thinking about the chedi in phuket - i've got friends staying near on Surin beach and we're looking to stay someplace near by.. suggestions? looking for something really beautiful and cool at the same time..

as for bangkok, i'm thinking about the metropolitan hotel.. does anyone know if this hotel is cool?

since i'm only spending 3 nights in Bangkok, i want to try and squeeze as much as humanly possible - no pun intended.. going with the missus (i know i know) but she's just as interested in seeing some wild tranny cabaret show as me..

in phuket, we're planning on staying close to Surin, and just relaxing.. i do want to get a muythai fight in.. but is there anything essnetial i should check out while i'm there? i don't mind the cultural stuff.. but maybe something i shouldn't miss?

It's my first time to thailand, any clue if the muythai fighting in phuket is any good to watch or should i save it for bangkok?
