in response to the last point. even if don had retained some level of intellegence that allowed him to recognize and track down his own children, it would have been highly unlikely that he survived the initial chemical attack. now let's assume that somehow don avoids the chemical cloud (unlikely), when his children and the major were driving around the city getting chased down by apache choppers, how on earth could don have caught up with the car?
