they're 19 oz wx denim... I dont think they're texas cotton... no idea what the wx means

thanks... they're about 3.5 years of wear. they hit the 4 year mark in november, but around the third year i started rotating them with another pair of jeans...

I'll take better picts when they hit 5 years of wear, but that'll be a while

First day wearing 710s, was painful at first but the waist has loosened already. Opinions on fit? I'm a bit worried about the ole kneebags, but I guess that's a common sight in the first week of wear.

Am I correct about the samurai element concepts? that the weft are different colors so that when they fade hard enough they will be those colors instead of a plain white....

I like it because its a little longer than most raw jean jackets from japan... most of them seem to be short so that you usually have to tuck in your shirt or it looks akward

so are they modeled after levi's 66s or samurai's 510

although over time some of the indigo in the less abraded areas of the denim will eventually wash out, it's no where near as much in the worn areas. that's where contrast comes from. if what you are saying is true all of our jeans would be completely a uniform color after a certain time. if the denim was made with a quality dye job the indigo should be noticably darker in the lesser worn/crocked areas. that's how old vintage jeans still have some blue in em'.

i agree... worn areas show more indigo loss... But if your going for a more constrasty look its better to delay washes.. different strokes for different folks...

side question, what model are your 5 year old samurais in the 2year+ thread?

i think you guys have convinced me to taper my own 510's.. 3.5 years later but not too late.. they are so ugly when you stack them

....how hard you wear the jeans is much more important than how often you wash. jeans fade due to wear and abuse, not water!

I dunno about that.. how light your jeans are, alll around, within a year pretty much shows they're fading in the non wear areas as much as in the wear areas
