  1. Hello Opie,

bomberairport.co.uk is long dead, sorry we may have an online sample sale on with the European Kato site, but not sure.

the old-new feel after the wash is mainly due to the organics, untreated cottons revert when washed a little. the colour lose is due to the traditional locking of the indigo, could BORE you with it, but already posted on here ages ago so I'm sure you not interested!

    Slub,

sorry I can't say who sells Kato, last time I did that I was told I was advertising, so all I can say is check the website, for stockists, can't tell you the website as I'll be advertising again......

    issues on issues with SuFu

I can say the left leg whiskers may have something to do with your right brain lobe....I've noticed most people whisker more on one side than the other, I checked this with a few friends (most thought I was weird for asking, but some agreed/noticed) did a little research, and we all have something call lode domination, it affect the way we do everything, right down to the way your body moves. it's all very boring but in short you're favoring your left side as you move, most likely, means you have a very personal wear marks on your KATO's.....

love to see them, have a buckle back myself but always want to see others use/wear shapes, tells a lot about the wearer, all mine have the right back pocket worn through (keys) and left back has a very nice off centre diamond wear shape from my card wallet and I always rub through the right leg mid thigh (key-chain)..sorry... please post them, it may help future denims

    thanks again for your surport

  2. ?

Hah, weird. The selvage line was the first thing that reminded me of 45rpm.

Kato is the 'clothing side of a small looming company, we used to make denim for 45rpm, until they move there production to a larger looming house.........

I hope they fade, even though it would be quite weird. Hankdyed jeans that fade fast?

because we use a totally natural locking process(steam box) and an 100% organic cotton the cloth does aged, in the first stages, quicker than a more industry process, but we pride ourselves that Kato ages with the way you wear it, it depends on the washing and the cleaning process used.

    Neil

  3. Damn, you still around?

Well that means goodbye to contest and hello to the cheapest pair of hankdyed jeans i've ever laid my eyes upon. Can you tell us how many dips?

Also very interested in if the chambray waistcoat still exists somewhere out there in a size xs?

    Edit:

    just read the page.

"One of the most interesting things is that almost all colors used to color Kato's fabrics come from nature. This because they simply found that these colors yielded the best results and not because of some environmentalist fad."

    Made my day!

    Hello Opie,

Yes, I'm still around.....;-)) been on a bit of a hiatus working on another collection with a new concept label, but Kato' is still my passion, I simple don't get to answer/respond to all the posts, sorry but it hard enough keeping the development and standards going, happy to hear you've not forgotten about us.....

we drip as many times as it takes to get the colour right, is the simple answer, because we use a drip and lock process it takes time to get the depth of colour and over night dips allow deeper dyeing....long and very enjoyable process, spend way to much time in the dye houses...relaxing

hi Tweeds, how are you? sorry I've been away for so long, will try harder

slowdownarther, happy to hear you're enjoying the jeans, the idea of the incomplete thread is part of the whole 'tool project' idea, the jeans are not finished until you finish them we all wear our denim to destruction that wear and that life we give the cloth is part of the garment, more so than the 'finished' garment leaving the factory

thank you for your kind words

    Neil

  4. The rise of the Kato thread!

Just recieved the buckleback version from Superdenim:

and one of the few questions Lewis couldn't answer was if they were hank or rope dyed. The price would suggest ropedyeing, but they seem so similar to my jomons in both fabric and color that i'm not sure.

So can anyone help me out?

I'm crossing my hands for ropedyed so i can parallel-participate in the Dry Bones contest!

    hello Opie,

it's Hank dyed, using an older process they dip direct into the indigo fermenting pot rather than straining the dye before use.

  5. So, I know these are out of the price range, but some other redcasts are the Katos I'm wearing. The store site has great pictures, though of course color is monitor dependent.

    http://www.bomberairport.co.uk/pants.htm

    Hi.....

I just wanted to say that the Kato' red-cast is not a 'tinted' indigo it's a doulbe spun process. we spin a thread and hank dye it with a red organic dye, then spin a second 'coat' on un dyed cotton over the thread and re-hank dye it in double harvest indigo, dipping 35/40 times and steam locking the thread, it gives a slightly larger thread and a open weave......

just wanted to point it out.....

    thanks

    Neil

  6. Thank you all, so much,

odd thing is I bumped it to one of the boys from FAT, got the full story, even thorugh I work else where, I would happily buy this product and urge you all to do the same.

good denim and well planed product.

although most of it is a bit BAPE for me, it's still great stuff

    Neil

  7. Hello,

Just killing some tome in Tokyo today, waiting for a meeting to start, found this little store called FAT, had this great old kids bike out side, so i went in and found this AMAZING denim, great cut, beautiful cloth, un-real detail, I know NOTHING about them and was wondering if any of you had heard of them?

sadly I had left my camera and phone in the car and could not find the store again when I tried later the day.

  8. Skull 5010xx 6x6 Raw. 32'' waist (I'm 5' 11'' and 72kgs with cyclists thighs hence why I sized up)

Hemmed by FabFour, I've not soaked them.

Though I got hammered for tax I'm really happy with them. The fact that they're the old style red tab version is a bonus...

Great looking Denim, nice cut too

  9. I would warn people looking at these jeans that they stretch out a LOT! Beautiful jeans, but if I'd known how much stretch to expect I would have sized down one more size.

Been wearing my 25SP-31-69s (rolls off the tongue) for about a month straight, and I've gotten nearly two inches of stretch in the waistband. Ah well, guess that's what belts are

    hello Theetruscan.

you have a pair of red cast, it's a double spun thread which by nature has a LOT more movement in, you are right and you should have been told this when you got the. where did you buy them from?

the main collection in NOT double spun and will not stretch out as much as the red cast denim does. max stretch is an inch which will pull back on first wash/hot water bath, like I said RedCast is a different weave and will pull back

sorry you where not told this.

  11. Any suggestions on a skinny taper/straight raw jean for girls...

-straight leg = not too big of a leg opening

    -low rise

    -fitted

    -sanforized*

Looking for a 26/27 but if possible include the best choice for sizing...

can be from any where (rakuten included) ... also

    thanks!

  12. The gingham check on the EU07 55 shirts looks mint, I like the triple stitching as well... Off down the Brompton road for me then...

The EUS-11-64 is also really nice, looks like a hickory stripe...

Edit: Stirling prices for the above?

    Hi Gem...

sorry but you may be a little bit too late......

I think they sold out a few weeks ago...in fact I know they did.

    Sorry sir.

    Neil

  13. Which cut did you try on?

Kato sent some samples to my friends shop and I tried on their whole s/s 07 line. Some of them fit like shit and some of them were hands down the best fitting shirts ever. The one I liked was a long fitting slim cut with a plaid print. The one that looked like bedsheets fit like shit (If thats the one you're talking about.)

    Hello Sir,

sorry to do this but you did not try on ALL the cuts and fabirc...LOL say hi to the self edge guys for me...........

just because it did not fit you the way you like does not mean 'it fits like shit' as you so nicely put it, I have no idea what shape you are......we're all diffrent you know.

A few of the cuts that went to SE were direct from Japanese block and sent for fabric samples.

there are 7 basic cuts in the range and sadly no US stores has seen fit to open up to all but two the BD and the triple stich work shirt both good cuts but a little safe buying on the stores front.

Self Edge will be getting stock in the next few months and have gone a little deeper than anyone else into the shirting types.

although I'm a little shock to see they open my sample to anyone and everyone

    Neil

  14. Hey Neilfuji... i sent an email to the guys at bomber about their shirts but i didn't hear anything back. I am jsut curious what size you guys might recommend for a kid who is about 6'1" and 170 lbs. The shirts I usually wear are about 21-22 inches armpit to armpit. Also, do you know their return or exchange policy? Thanks!

    hello 02//M3,

I've just e-mailed them to ask why......

but yes it would fit you a 44" chest would be XL best go...as for the exchange I think it's 14 days but it's on there site in the 'how to' area

    thanks

    Neil
