  1. About every 3 months or so I get over to one or two of the aforementioned cities. I'm looking for good, upscale stores (not interested at all in streetwear, unless we are talking high end, more conservative (is there such a thing)..no BAPE, etc.)...be it Euro designers or stuff that is local.

Or just point out the areas of town that i need to be in, or best streets/malls.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. tron, if you scroll through this thread, you'll probably see that gimmegimme is the one person who offers more answers and help than any other user. Don't hate man.

Also the look you are going for is not to everyones taste be they teenagers or 31 year old (like me) so let's not have an argument about who is more grown up.

As for Somet, BIG have them on their site I think http://blueingreenesoho.com but again they might be lowish rise for you. Maybe have a look at pure blue japan, the 005 is a slim fit and the 003 a regular. The denim is fantastic with a beautiful slubby texture. All the recommendations I can give will be Japanese denim. I've never worn APC or Dior as they don't really interest me, but it seems to me that is what you are after.

As for low end jeans then I have no idea because I don't wear them. Gap and Uniqlo both do some decent cuts I've heard.

First, I'm not hating. I realize from his post counts that he contributes alot.

However, his first response to my post was snide and condescending. His second was more of the same (don't wanna see you looking like this). I say fuck off to little shits. Sorry.

Look: Agreed. That is what i expressed. I also said his opinion/attitude is reflective of someone young..not just age, but mentality. I am older than you, so perhaps you understand where i'm coming from. I didn't ask for his opinion of my style. I asked for help with jeans. If you can't assist, then STFU. And, if you are going to be an ass, then at least answer my fucking question. Is that to much to ask for. Something about a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down..get my drift?

The basic fact is that i got a couple of responses and only one jerk. I'm not on this board making snide comments about others. And, believe me, i do have opinions and as you can plainly see..am not afraid to share them.

Furthermore, i made my living in apparel and know more than most on this board. I don't know denim so i asked. I respect his and other's opinion on which jeans, etc. But, i don't need his opinion of my style choices. When he has been to as many MAGIC/POOL shows as myself, then I may consider.

Thanx for the heads up on BIG. I've seen the acronym, but didn't place it with bluegreen.

I'll check out your suggestions. I'm looking for something cool, refined...something that stands out for the shine, coating, etc...not some freaking ridiculous stitching like the buddha on the TRs.

I need to research more on "slubby."

    thanx again, peace.

  3. I'm not going to argue with you, that's not worth our time. I made some suggestions, you can take them or leave them, you don't have to get all upset about it.

I'm not upset in the least. I would actually have to care about your opinion to get upset.

Suggestions: Funny stuff. How about a suggestion on the actual question I posed? If you feel you have something to offer than contribute to the question.

So, i like the look of the dior black. Are there other jeans that get that look (blue or black)? Feel free to give me your suggestions. I would appreciate a low end, middle, and high. Low end for me would be 130.

  4. I thought by ultra-tapered he mean't skinny a la CM nudie TF et al.

I suggested somet, APC and Dior because they are all simple jeans and have slim cuts that someone wearing a blazer to a club might appreciate.

    no?

Don't get all huffy...I just wouldn't want you to end up looking like this:

When you could look like this.

    68k1l53.jpg

You could easily swap these pants for dark jeans. The blazer-tshirt-jeans look is a bit "Entourage" which doesn't come across as "grown up", as you put it...it looks like you're trying to be a teenager again (which I assume you're not). That's what high school boys put on to try to get into clubs with fake ID's. If you want to wear jeans, get something that's flattering and not shaped too trendy and skinny, like APC New Standards, and pair it with a button-up shirt and a coat. If you want to wear a blazer, wear a casual button-up shirt underneath...loose the tie and skip the jeans.

Well, i disagree. I don't think pitt looks bad at all (well, not exactly on the fit), but certainly not something to wear out at night..

More importantly i'm not interested in what you want or don't want me to look like. I'm fucking comfortable with MY choices. See, i'm me and you are you. I'm sure i could find pics (if you are in waywt) of you that i would find ridiculous.

Your perspective is one of someone who i'm guessing hasn't reached the age of 25, so I would hardly listen to you about what is "grown up". I don't watch entourage (well aware of it) but i'm not making decisions based on what they do nor am i ruling out choices because of them, that is just plain stupid. People have been wearing blazers and jeans forever, including preppies with a standard brooks brother blazer and jeans.

I also think you are bringing a bias to the thread. I know where i live and what works. And, the blazer thing is a west coast kinda thing. You don't have to like it or wear it, but understand it. It would be foolish of me to wear all black in AZ, besides attracting heat it would look outta place, this isn't NYC. Or wear some NYC streetwear, no matter how cool it was.

Lastly, one, i live in AZ. I'm rarely wearing any jackets. I've got like 3 or for Nicos that i don't wear. Second, i've got stuff like that already. I'm not posting for fashion help.

Wearing a blazer with a tee or button up (i never wear a tie) is pretty standard stuff. I could care less what teenagers do, believe me, they aren't going to the places i go.

I'm not asking for your opinion on my choices. I'm asking for your opinion on JEANS. Of which you have yet to provide anything usefull. Why don't don't you assist on that, instead of acting like a punk.

  5. I thought by ultra-tapered he mean't skinny a la CM nudie TF et al.

I suggested somet, APC and Dior because they are all simple jeans and have slim cuts that someone wearing a blazer to a club might appreciate.

    no?

Tapered/Ultra: I'm not keen on the way skinny look...7 inch openings. So, i don't see myself in slim jims, julian's, etc. Many of those who wear them will look back and cringe when they see themselves in pics.

I'm all for well cut, body concious jeans, but prefer straight or slightly tapered.

Well, i've already got 2 pair of APC. I'll look at somet and dior. Any suggestions on which ones? Special resins/coatings?

OK, i've looked at the dior thread. I like the look of those (first couple of pics). Any other jeans that look like that? Also, usually i avoid low rise as i'm already long in the torso...any diors or others that aren't low rise?

  6. do guys still wear blazers with jeans at clubs?

maybe look for jeans at the same store where you buy your blazers.

When you grow up, you'll realize that blazers never go out of style...some of us are adults who work and would like to be able go from work to wherever w/o changing. I used the term club as a generic term, could be lounge, bar, restaurant, etc.

If i'm wearing a collection privee blazer with a tee..what would you suggest for pants.

  7. Which jeans have you tried on already Tron? And how much are you looking to spend?

I really haven't tried on that much, as i'm in scottsdale, az. Either i'm gonna have to purchase online or out in LA. We only have nordi, Neimans as far as dept stores. There is a Boss store and gucci (tho not sure if they have men's).

Currently have a pair of apc hipsters and ? (not the super skinny), 2 true religions (i know, the denimheads hate them, but i like the style and back pockets sans ridiculous stitching...i think TR is a west coast thing)..billy and logan, pair of papers which i rarely wear, chip & pepper tuck, pair of theory..and god knows what else i'm not wearing.

Spend: Whatever it takes. I'm looking for that nyc look/major city. Something that is gonna standout because of the cut, quality, and appearance (coated, shiny, etc.). Something you would catch in GQ in an editorial spread on jeans and going out..if that helps paint the pic.

  8. I'm looking for some new jeans and need some help. I want a couple of nice pairs that look good for going out (ie, hitting lounges, clubs). I would want them to look good with a blazer or a nice shirt and a pair of upscale sneaks.

I'm 5'8", 156, 32 inch waist, but a bit long in the torso. I'm not to keen on the ultra tapered look, and frankly, some that i've tried on can't get past my calves.

Any advice would be appreciated. Your opinion, pointing me to the right thread in the denim encyclopedia, etc.

  10. ]Apologize if this is the wrong forum to post and/or if i've missed a resource.

I'm looking for a couple of good sites that sell hats. Looking for a military inspired hat. Pretty common these days, but i'm having a hard time finding a good one locally (scottsdale).

Something similar to lindeberg model would be great. Prefer no logos, but I would buy if it is cool. Wish the lindeberg wasn't sold out.

  11. I've messaged a couple of times. Mostly it is of the "if it doesn't fit you, please allow me the opportunity to buy it off you." I also get these quite often after I've won an item. Just happened on my last auction win.

I did message someone who paid like 50 beans more for a Salvage jacket than retail. Pointed out that revolve had the same jacket and was much cheaper.

  12. I have to agree, alot of retreads. I've gone a couple of times and would heartily concur about hydration, though when they moved it back last year it wasn't as hot...but, i live in AZ so maybe i'm acclimated. At least they don't rape you on the price of water.

For those who haven't been, you aren't gonna see all the bands you want. Way to many conflicting showtimes..and most bands only play for 45/50 minutes, cept for the headliners. And, you better hope everything goes off without a hitch..wasn't to thrilled about a 25 minute set from the Lips. And, what is up with Happy Mondays (yeah, I really wanna watch a 45 year old heroin addict..sigh). Shit, they never did anything great to begin with (they were no stone roses or charlatans), and now they have comedy at the festival? Crowded House? Jack's Mannequin...Coachella has officially jumped the shark.

Also, bands often are added as well..or drop out. HELLO WILCO. WELCOME BECK.

You are definitely gonna wanna book a motel/hotel early. All the cheap places go very quickly. Myself, I always stay in Palm Springs in a decent hotel. Get a decent breakfast at the jewish deli and i'm good to go. I usually get there around 3ish.

Now I gotta miss a day of work for friday's shows. Yea, i'm old..so i'm gonna wanna catch JAMC and Jarvis.
