  1. Just wanted to show the ghost inside my RS04s after their first cold soak.

Wore them for 5 days, then soaked cold a second time. A much softer denim emerged after the second cold soak, along with the hairy-ness everyone talks about.

I keep saying I need to weed out/get down to 4 or 5 but I just can't do it.

  3. The postings here on the Roys have been very helpful, so I thought I’d relay my own experience, as I’m an uncommon 35†waist.

So after 2+ years of watching the Roy phenomenon grow, and missing out on Roy’s first moratorium in June ’10, and missing out on some quick inventory sell-outs at Self Edge, I finally was able to get my arse into a pair of Roys this week – RS04.

If Roy made a 35†tagged waist, that would be my size. There is no 35, so I had to decide between the 36 and the 34. I was going to just order the 36 for fear of making an expensive mistake on the small size, but I was able to get out of work early on Monday so I headed over to SENY.

The 36, when tried on, were pretty big on me. The waist wasn’t crazy big (SE lists it as 37.3) but I was a bit concerned that the thighs and knee area wouldn’t shrink down enough. The 34 waist was a 35.5 pre-soak, which was approx .5/.75 inch bit big on me. Decided on the 34 waist, and was told that a cold soak, for just 10 mins, would get most of the shrink out.

Here’s the measurements, pre and post soak:

    Pre:

    Waist: 35.5

    Rise: 12.25

    Thigh: 12.5

    Knee: 9.5

    Leg Opening: 9.5

    Length: 38

    Post:

    Waist: 34

    Rise: 11.25

    Thigh: 12

    Knee: 8.75

    Leg Opening: 8.5

    Length: 34.75

For just a 10 minute cold soak, I’m surprised how much these shrunk down, but Kiya had warned me.

Seems that most folks are saying that additional soaks yield minimal shrinkage. If I do another cold soak, it would just be for 10 mins again. Would you guys recommend? I’d eventually like to get these hemmed to a 31.5

Thanks to Kiya and the SE guys in NY for all of their help!

  4. Hello, My name is Joe, I'm 35 and I'm a denim addict. I have the pix of me in funky-fresh Lee Pinstripes in 1983 to prove it!

Last night I dirtied my beloved LVC 1947's (Born Sept 2006, no wash) changing a diaper. Don't ask, young ones.... It was a bit of a panic situation, but I think I got it all out. That should give you a bit of perspective of what its like to be a denim addict with kids...

  5. Anyone with LVC 1955s 501...help on sizing if you please (Did some searching of threads but still not sure....)

Since I can't find these anywhere to actually try on in person I would appreciate anyone's input who actually owns these.

I bought a 36 waist pair of 1947s LVC and did one warm soak and now the waist fits great. Knowing that these actually measured 35 or 35.5 before soak, they are probably around a 34.5 or so now.

Question is: what size should I buy the 1955s in? Would 36 be too big, considering that 1955s are not STF and they cut is fuller? Or would 34 be too small?

Anyone know how the waists run? True to size?

Thanks in advance for any help

    -Sazon

  6. Does anyone have these yet...?

    http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=7389&pid=445263

Tell me about them i'm curious...

I just got them in the mail yesterday. Denim looks/feels nice. Nice rigidity. Love the color. I lke the Gap straight fit...fits my body well.

While the website just says high quality denim and makes no mention of selvage, the selvage seams are just like the $98 morrisons.

I had a 30% off coupon thanks to Zelah, so I scored them for just 48.

  7. I've been there a handful of times. True, the staff can be either really polite and helpful (manager Manny Ramos) or I've been treated rather rudely by some queens who feel they are doing you a favor by answering your question or ringing you up.

The 2nd time I was there they had about 15 pair of LVC 1947s, all in size 30-34W. They do sell out quickly, as mentioned.

This store is much better than the 57th & Lex store IMO. That store is crazy packed all the time with tourists and the like.

  8. I took some advice of other board members and gave Mauro a call at The Denim Bar in Virginia. He had exactly the size I was looking for in LVC 47s, with great service. I would recommend him.

  9. Thanks everyone for your help!!! I called DenimBar and they were able to hook me up with a 36 X 32. Christina was extremely polite and helpful. I am a true 35 X 30 so these should be good. I saw the 36 X 34 come back on levisstore.com right after I called Mauro.

When I had called What Comes Around and Steven Alan, they also were out of 36 waist.

For those of you with experience, shoud I do one warm soak before wearing and then dry clean from then on? Or will that bleed the denim too much?

    eagerly awaiting my 1947s,

    Joe

  10. I have been trying with no success to find LVC 1947 Deadstocks in NYC, size 36 X 34.

Amazing, no one seems to have anything other than a 32 waist.

Jesus, is everyone 140 pounds out there?

Anyone have any spots that I should try? I've no luck all around this city. No luck on line. No luck with Levi's store in SF.

    Help, please.

    thanks!

    Joe
