  1. If anyone's interested....

I just listed some more deadstock Levi's XX redline selvage fabric on ebay.

This is the last few yards of the Cone xx redline I have available.

I do have more of the Kurabo (white selvage) available, I think there's about 20 yards left on the bolt. make an offer!

PS ...I know it looks like I'm trying to blow up my own auction, which I guess I am, but I think the peops of this forum might appreciate the heads up on some hard to find selvage.

    Cheers

  2. numero-

I paid $2400 for the bike. From what research I've done, that seems about right. But as with most things collectible it's value is a little harder to pin down and put a number on. To me, the bike is absolutely worth what I paid for it. I ride it, in fact it's my primary rider right now. I know the real collectors would probably frown on that, saying I risk damage to my investment etc. I know this sounds like a cliché but, I'd rather push that bike than be caught riding one of those cookie cutter mountain-eering bikes around.

I mean, why do we search out vintage denim? It's all about S-T-Y-L-E

  3. The last time I put some of this denim on ebay it was only available by the roll and I had a few requests from peeps on this forum to sell smaller quantities, like 3 yard cuts, enough for 1 pair.

So, if you're feeling kinda Project Runway with your sewing machine or you know a good tailor... I've put some 3 yard cuts up on the bay.

Here's a link to one of the auctions, you know how to find the others.

The denim is the real deal and has been discussed in detail on this forum.

I know, I know, looks like I'm trying to blow up my own auction, but I really don't need to because you FREAKS in JAPAN are doing it for me. (I mean that in a good way)

I thought I was a nut, but you guys are out of hand. I mean, granted, the last three bolts I put up on ebay were all sold to Japan for way more $ than I could of ever imagined, so I shouldn't be surprised when you guys snatch up 3 yard cuts for $$$ as fast as I can list em.

Honestly, I'm kidding about the freak thing, this is coming from someone who has in the past:

    1. Dated a girl that worked at American Rag just so I could get access to the best denim before it went out on the floor.

    2. Missed my flight out of LAX because I was knee deep in vintage denim at the Rose Bowl Swap Meet, which subsequently made me miss a very important meeting at work Monday morning, blah, blah, blah

Thats just a couple among many denim foibles.

But I think the thing that sets me aside as being a full blown FREAK, this is so embarrassing... I use to cut the selvage out of vintage Levi's that were trashed or too small etc. and sew it into modern 501's just so I could get that two or three inches of redline to show when I cuffed my jeans. I mean, what's up with that!

Anyway, got's to go, can't be late to my Indigo Anonymous meeting.

PS Ya want to know what my latest jones is.... Pre WWII Schwinn Balloon Tire Bicycles, oh man are they sick! Just picked up an original unrestored 1936 Schwinn Motorbike/Cycleplane Deluxe ..wow..

On the page you'll see the Tack buttons or "donut hole" buttons that are also correct for vintage jeans. Usually one of their distributors will send you some samples for free.

    http://www.ykksnap-america.com/

Same thing, locate one of their distributors that is local to you and ask for some samples.

If you need more than samples, the minimum order is usually a 1000 for the tack buttons and prongs. 5000 minimum for rivets. If you want to go "old world" you can use copper belt rivets and burrs. I'm not sure why they are called "belt rivets" but I don't think it has anything to do with fashion. The belt rivets will give you that little tuft of fabric that punches through on the copper burr, just like on the real old Levi's, etc. That is of course if you're looking for the vintage look.

Here's a copy of a quote for some denim hardware showing the minimums and prices. This quote is a few months old so please don't "quote" me on these prices (don't quote this quote, ha ha ha ha)

I also have a very limited amount of deadstock 12.5oz Levi's xx raw selvage from the early 90's LVC and some Karubo narrow loom raw selvage, if anyone's interested. Best to practice your sewing on cheap fabric store denim first. You don't want to fuck up perfectly good deadstock raw like I have.

    Cheers,

  5. Yes, I have been informed of a very probable date of the denim to the early 90's LVC by Cone. Even though I was told by the fabric outlet that it could be older, I've always felt that because when I found it, (mid 90's) it was quite possible the denim was probably some of Levi's early LVC sample fabric from cone, regardless of what the store owner had said.

Even though I would of liked to have the denim dated to Levi's big "E" period, I'm just glad the fabric doesn't date to the little "e" era because that indigo sucked compared to their LVC denim.

If anyone here on this forum has put in a bid and would like to retract it based on this new info, I'm behind you 100%. However, I do stand by everything as stated in the auction.

And like I stated in the auction "If you're a vintage denim freak like me, than you know that a couple of bolts of dead-stock xx selvage is almost impossible to find, vintage or reproduction. You just can't go down to you're local fabric store and buy selvage denim, unless you're in the apparel industry and want to buy 5000 yards from a mill like Cone or Candiani etc."

Thanks again for the research (you know who you are)

Any questions or more photos you can email me.

    Cheers,

    Todd
