  1. The word you are looking for is "sweep."

More sweep is generally more comfortable. The Nitto risers have none. Flat bars have sweep only, no rise. Some bars have more than others; some as little as 2-3º, some as much as 15º.

Old Nitto bar do have slight sweep to it...but the new one dont.

  2. try the usuals

sino mall/ centre whatever its called in Mong Kok

    Oriental 188 mall in Wanchai

maybe try aap liu street near Mong Kok... i dont know the name in english but its like a whole street of radioshacks.

188 and Sino are for the porn maateee..:P

mmmmh 298 are for the computer programs.

  3. don't girls just buy them, its not like they are restricted to a suit like men are, they can pretty much buy whatever type of dress they want (within reason) for formal occasions

Some of them hire, because formal wear is pretty hard to take care of, and nothing better than hiring a nice dresss that is take care by a pro?? But then there are numbers of crappy dodgey store out there. Thats just my 2 cent.s.hehe my gf dont go to formal occasion anyways. Well rarely.

  4. ^^^ details of tailor? wud recommend? can work off photographs?

Hey mate, I dont think you could find it since I dont really have a address. But I will give my bro a call seeing if he still got the business card. I will have a look as well.

It's in central...his name is Uncle Paul, he basically can do what you tell him to do and he used his 40 years experiences and try to make it as nice as possible in a cheaper price. He speak fluent english but he never graduate from High School, which some how amazing...he does suit for executive and politician.

I gonnna say he takes minium of 2 weeks, btw how long u staying?

  5. Oh and how about a 3-piece??

I had all my suit tailor in Hong Kong for $1200HKD...3 piece suit as well. The reason why it is so cheap because the old man do it for his hobby, so the quality is pretty good.

I have a cashmere for winter, thinner cotton for summer....charcoal grey (close to black) and grey/shadow stripe.

  6. Thanks for the feedback guys, I will get around to check it all out.

In the meantime, where can a brother kop some nice shorts? I swear I can't find shit. I know we're going into winter, but fuck, its 30+ degrees still I and have like one pair of shorts with me.

Anyone seen any floating around recently? Obviously I'm looking at smallish sizers (< 30"), some nice cropped ones with no cargo pockets or anything.. black / navy / tan / whatever.

    Where should I be looking?

    edit: not super expensive

Go to 852 in CWB...skate shop but they do sell lotta shorts without cargo and they r cheap.

But then why not just wear a pair of jeans..I was there 4 weeks ago it was hotter than now. Wear the April 77 eat some fish balls, and drink can of beer on the other hand. :D

  7. Yea...they should seriously use the space better in that place...haha

theres a place in LKF called oysters where u can get long island ice teas for 35 dollars...i normally go there before hitting clubs to get a bit tipsy.

I heard good things about beijing? but 77 for beer? wtf

Mmmh Beijing aint as good as before, I guess may be I am getting older. Yer from 60 bucks to 77 which is hardcore....

Oyster ...mmmh interesting I shall check it out when I go back there end of the year. Hehe.

  8. A bunch of stores opened up recently

    Demeulemeester

    Margiela

    Mihara Yasuhiro

    D-Mop

all have shops behind Joyce in Central on On Lan Street.

Undercover has a pretty neat shop too.

Granville Road, and just off it, Rise Mall, in TST might yield some surprising cheap local stuff.

Pacific Place Lane Crawford has a more interesting selection of clothes than the IFC one, carrying Viridi-Anne, Lad Musicican, Attachment and LUC.

I.T. Pacific Place and Causeway Bay carries Margiela and Julius

Medium Rare (small boutique) in Causeway Bay also carry some of the Japanese brands listed above.

I don't think the above has been mentioned in any HK threads yet, sorry if redundant.

Back in the days my grandpa took me to On Lan Street, it was like a shitty alleyway. Now it is soo expensive, the rent there is 6 figures pers month.

  9. u got me, u cant get gipped if u just drink beer BUT i stand by what i said...theres a HUGE '9' figure that the bar is shaped like, and in the middle of the 9 is a whole load of wasted space which means the bar is so so so so packed its not even funny, especially when u have to wrestle ure way through people to get drinks. It normally takes like 10 mins to get a drink there.

Ok, i have a personal grudge against 9. Everyone has places that they just dont like no matter what.

I have once asked the security what is that thing in the middle..apparently is a piece of cloths that cover the hole. So ppl dont jump down.

Haha....if u know the bar tender is ok, they r very nice. I tend to grab as much beer as i could cause there are 3 bars..soo i grab 9 beer and drink it all at once. Then off to other clubs...

The beer in Beijing cost $77HKD...wtf man.

  10. just came accross the names of these stores

    elite

    shine

    i.t (apparels)

    galleriede vie

    lane crawford

    any worth checking out?

edit: just read bauhaus store carries a77???

As I remember IT have April 77...it was like 4 weeks ago when I was there.

If I were you go to I.T. and Lane Crawford...u will have a smile on ur face but then u might need to eat bread and drink water for rest of the trip.

  11. Stay away from 9. Its packed, and the 'liquid buffet' just means loads of hard to get (cos its so packed), watered down drinks. its wack.

Volars pretty good...it seems to be more dance orientated, whenever a name dance dj comes down they ususally spin there.

But how can they water down ur drinks if they're in a bottle i.e. beer. I love my beer sl all good!!!

Mmmmmmmmmmmh go to YUMLA get smash there...yumla mean "drink up" in chinese.

  12. ^^ all bad hiphop in HK. ppl just like hearing black eyed peas, beyonce, and house of pain. lol

Aww yer...but then if they dont play mainstream noone gonna go. Hong Kong is really commercialised hence mainstream stuff tend to be more popular and HKer's are way to busy to do research.

Mmmmh there are few good clubs/bar...I particularly like YUMLA, have a look on the internet if you interested. Mostly drum n bass...

But Club No.9 have unbeatable all you can drink for $160.00

  13. Thanks for the heads up guys - will scope in the next few days.

Onto more serious matters, I'm living here for the next 5 odd months, and would love to suss some cool local designers. I know Raf, Rick, etc. are acessible (and expensive, yes?), but are there any local labels / shops I should be checking out?

I try to mainly support local designers when at home, so I thought I'd try and do the same here. And there's often better value..

edit: I'll scope the supercity page for HK now.

Have a look at IKEA...they're cheap.

Local designers in Hong Kong...depends on what type of clothing you are looking at. I know few designers in Hong Kong when I was there. Shoot me a message if you interested of meeting or know about them, they're heaps friendly.

Hang around in Roadafixa (fixed gear shop in HK) or www.hkfixed.blogspot.com. Sometimes Brian (blog owner) will post some fashion or art show. Let me know if you want his contact.

  14. I heard that Ksubi is having sale again this year...i think 22nd August in Darlinghurst. Can someone confirm?

BTW guys, I am going to tell my cousin over in LA to get me some AA stuff from their outlet, last time I remember hoodies is around 40 bucks and tee is under 20 (depends on style). If anyone interested pm me.

  15. if you're so self concious about riding a bike, stop riding it. don't waste your time because if you care that much you're just in it for the fashion like the rest of them.

    1++++

Ride ur bike as if u're riding a slut....

  16. WTS:

1.) High Flange dura-ace hubs, double treaded w/ one lockring and 32 holes.

2.) 2 x sugino cranks (Grey and Army Green) 165mm

    3.) MKS double straps

    PM me if anyone interested.

  17. haha how long do your shoes last?

I normally wear my Van Old School..they have thicker sold. But then it gave up recently...been a year or so tho.

Haha I do that when I am lazy riding to uni but cbb backpedal...but I do have a front brake :)

  18. do skip stops. theyre a pretty effective method of slowing down

Most effective method is....put ur right feet on the rear tyre and the press the front brake. ..i stop faster than road bike with dura-ace brake.

  19. uhhhh.....

check out Kalloy on Jenson USA, Kalloy makes nearly every size seatpost.

Don't really want to use Kalloy mate....

thomson will also make that shit

Thomson indeed they made 28.6mm, but quite hard to find on ebay without paying $32AUD shipping to Sydney. Or else I would got one already.

  20. Why would you get a shim. Just get the right fucking size seat post and don't risk damaging your seat tube, it's not like 27.2 is uncommon.

Shit I must be drunk when I type the last message..

    I want a shim 27.2mm to 28.6mm....

27.2 is a common size but 28.6 is not :(
