Thanks for the comments everyone.
mortimer - Those SDAs are looking great. Question to everyone here though: is there a specific reason why some jeans start to "crack" in between the honeycombs, as seen on mortimer's pair? I rarely see this on most of the jeans posted, but my APCs and now my Sammies have both had this happen. It doesn't bother me that much, I was just wondering if there was a specific reason for why this always happends to me, and if there is any way to prevent it?I only soaked my jeans for an hour or so. As a result there was a lot of starch left in the jeans, which, as some others have said, makes the denim more brittle. The fact that I didn't wash them for six months can't have helped either...
From now on I'll either buy one wash or chuck my raw jeans in the washer with a little detergent at the highest temperature. Hopefully this will stop the denim cracking. It's the only thing I really dislike about the jeans.

We rented an apartment through this website: http://www.romecityapartments.com/. It was a pretty cool apartment in Travestere, near lots of bars and restaurants. It worked out a lot cheaper than a hotel.

First wash was after six months. I think I probably could have washed them sooner though - they've lost hardly any indigo so far

Here's my SDA 103 after 8 months, worn most days, washed 3 times...
...and a picture in natural light that shows the actual colour of the jeans

Do those SDAs have some rips in the honeycombs?
They're really nice regardless.
Yeah, (I think) they were a bit brittle because I didn't get all the startch out in the first soak. The crotch is also starting to go

The new De La Soul album is their best in a while, IMO...

Philip Larkin - This Be The Verse
They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.
But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another's throats.
Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don't have any kids yourself

I ordered some SC1947s from 2000db last week. The cost, delivered to the UK was $165. That's £86 at current exchange rates.
It costs £160 to buy the same jeans from Togged or American Classics. Basically, it's a lot cheaper to get Sugar Canes directly from Japan than pay the inflated costs in the UK.
Try 'em on first at American Classics and then order from Japan.

Er, moleskin is made of cotton. Not sure what the best method for dyeing is though:confused:

I also bought 34" sda-103 which fitted me perfectly before any soak. I soaked them for about 2-3 hours, inside out, in the hottest water that came out of the tap of my bath. They shrank quite a bit. After letting them drip dry for an hour or so, I wore them when damp until almost dry. I then had them hemmed. They fit just about perfectly now. It's a slightly more skinny regular fit - if that makes sense?
Also, after I had them hemmed, I dipped the hems of the jeans in boiling water for about 30 seconds - it gives them a kind of roping effect.

I've just finished Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk. It's one of the most disgusting books that I've read - especially the first chapter "Guts" with the bit about the "snake" - you'll know what i mean if you've read it. Urgh:eek: . I've just started Beneath The Underdog, Charles Mingus' autoboigraphy. I'm about five chapters in, and I'd seriously recommend it. I'm not a huge jazz or Mingus fan, but he was a clever guy with an interesting life - he spent time as a pimp and in an institution, as well as being an amazing musician, band leader, and sleeping with 23 women in one night. The book's well written too.
All time favourites:
Kurt Vonnegut - Slaughterhouse 5
Alexander Solzhenitsyn - One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
Knut Hamsun - Hunger
James Ellroy - The Black Dahlia
Hunter S. Thompson - Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
John Fante - Ask The Dust
Graham Greene - The Quiet American
William Burroughs - Junky
Alexander Trocchi - Cain's Book
and more recently Michel Houellebecq - Atomised
