  1. PBJ AI-001 Report:

Was in NYC for the first time a few weeks ago, over from the UK, it would be rude not to pop into BiG to say hello and make a weak-dollar-denim-purchase. You lot are so generous with your "buck" just now, thanks for that ;-)

Was down SoHo way and before long BiG's flag beckoned, so in me and the Mrs. went. Saw nothing that was swelling my cock too much, having worn Eternal, Samurai and Warehouse for some time (all on the shelves in-store as most of you are aware) and Ironheart. Until.......

......Pure Blue Japan AI-001. The 1st pair I picked up were my size, a sign, surely. I tried them on, they fit. They feel incredible, look incredible, fit incredible, that colour!!! Anyway I got chatting to Yuji, who by the way is a complete gentleman, and before I gave myself the chance to change my mind had paid for them and settled on the sofa to watch Yuji chain-stitch them whilst listening to him enthuse about how they've just acquired a spare Union Special from an old Levi factory which they had heard was about to shut down. Always good to have a back up. Really lovely guy and have since kept in touch at his insistence.

Anyway, the jeans are (did I mention this?) incredible. The construction is solid, the contrasting jumbo stitch colour I love. The shape is ace, between semi fitted and loose, think between Sammie S5000 and SO500XX. The denim is S.L.U.B.

These are my new fave jeans, I can't stop rubbing my thighs and looking the colour in different lights. In a word, ace. Get some.

Ps. Was in 45rpm and studied the Jomons. They're nice don't get me wrong, for nicer see above.

Pps. New Yorkers......I adore your city and can't wait to return, hopefully soon.

  2. Bear with me, I haven't dealt with un-sanforized denim before.

Let's say if u do a chain-stich hem before washing. Then, soak/wash it...wouldn't the post-wash/soak shrinkage give u the "rope" effect at the hem? Because I plan to get my pair hemmed in Japan 1st, then soak it later to start off with a rope effect right away... I thought this "plan" was fool-proof:cool:

If you wash/soak first, then chain-stitch the hem, the rope effect will start to appear again after a few washes. The more you wash them over time, the more your hem will rope. This has worked out fine for me on my Warehouse 1001xx, Sammy S5000vx S0500xx and LVC 47's.

  3. I have both pairs and there are marked differences between the two. The LVC has a narrower profile and a slight taper through the leg. Also after the first soak the indigo comes up a real inky-blue. The Warehouse 1001xx has more of a straight leg to it and although I wouldn't say it was a full cut, it is slightly fuller than the LVC. The 1001xx seems to fade a bit quicker than the LVC in my opinion and is my preferred jean out of the 2 at the moment.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Anyone got any info on these?

Search has turned up nothing. I'm told they have a narrow profile but are not a low rise.

Anyone own a pair of these and if so any pics?

  5. Thanks miz,

I wouldn't say I prefer one over the other as they're both fairly different. With the Levi's you can get away with a flatter soled shoe such as converse or a nice pair of loafers etc because the jeans are narrow enough to not trail on the ground at the back. The Warehouse are straighter with a wider leg opening so I tend to wear them with different footwear to the Levi's.

I bought the 1001xx on a recommendation and just went with it. What's diffrence between the 1000 and the 1001?

  6. Thanks,

Kinda knew what I was getting with the LVC, still great though. I wore them damp after the 1st soak and now they are basically moulded to my legs.

The Warehouse are a great fit too, straighter in the leg but they feel great on. The guy I bought them from in Japan kindly soaked them for me twice, hung them out to dry, then chain-stitched them for me before sending them over, which was rather nice of him!

  7. New member checking in.

Been reading for a while and thought it was about time I took part.

Current projects are Warehouse 1001xx and LVC '47 raw.

Nice to be be on board!
