  1. Sam, could I trouble you to get some measurements for the Royal in an XL?

particularly sleeve length, chest and back length.

(if not too much hassle for you) thanks

Hi SneakerAddict, Measurements on ALD Royal XL jacket: shoulder-shoulder 20", sleeve 28, pit-pit 23.5, bottom collar-jacket edge 26.5. I am 6 feet 180 lbs, this jacket fits big on me (especially the sleeves)--I wanted it that way for layering. Where I live it's too cold for "just" a denim jacket about 5 months out of the year. Great jacket though.

  2. Hi Mizanation, Yes, I had received the measurements from Gordon at BIG but when I measured the jeans I got 36 instead of 38 for the "34". Indeed fit was a 36 when tried on raw. I didn't expect the waist to shrink alot but was glad to see the rise did--they were way baggy at first, too much material at the crotch. This is the first pair of Japanese denim I've soaked 3X to get to shrink-to-fit. Nice now, though.

  3. Can anyone tell me how much the SC001s shrink in the waist? I normally wear a 32, and BIG has the waist measurement of the 32 as 36 before shrinkage. It seems unlikely that it would shrink 4 inches in the waist, so should I size down to a 30?

Hi Erbs, I received the SC001 from BIG last week, size 34. It took one warm plus two steaming hot soaks to get a good fit. Measurements before: W 36", Ins. 35, front rise 12. After soaks plus air dry: W 35 3/4", Ins. 32 7/8, rise 10. Although the waist still measures large, the jeans fit me well--very confortable, slightly loose in the seat. I normally wear a 34 in Sugarcane and Samurai, these fit me tighter than the JB. Bottom line--when you try these on you are seeing what you will get in the waist measurements, though the rise and length will definitely shrink to fit. Sorry my camera is headed for the shop and I can't post pics. I do like the jeans very much. Good luck.

  4. Sorry I don't have a tape to measure myself accurately but my SD jacket is 20.5 in. armpit-to-armpit giving about a 41 inch chest. The Denime jacket meaures almost 21 in. armpit-to-armpit to give a 42 inch chest. I bought a Kenneth Cole suit recently and it was actually a 44. Hope that helps.

  5. Hi Blacbird and Superdenim,

I have been watching and (gratefully) learning for awhile here but have not posted until now--maybe I can help. You must be 6 feet tall or so; I am six feet and have the same issue with too-short denim jackets. A friend in Japan helped me get a Denime 507 type 2-size large--which fits well. Measurements are: length from collar 25.5 in. (65 cm, like you mentioned), arm length 24.5 in. (62 cm), shoulder-to-shoulder 21 in. (53 cm). These measurements are taken after the jacket has seen two hot-water soaks. I am sorry I can't post a pic due to a broken camera but the jacket length hits me well below the belt. I also have an Studio DArtisan DB-431 type 2 jacket from Blue In Green which is slightly smaller, length is 24.5 in., also after two hot water soaks. Both these jackets are selvedge and very, very nice. Good luck.
