  1. Thanks for all the comments. They have been washed a lot, but I try not to wash them until they get a dirty or smell. I handwash them about half the time, and the other half in washing machines (cold water, inside-out, not too much detergent).

My legs are pretty thin, so the creases are pretty prominent, especially behind the knees.

The pictures above look a lot darker than they really are, so I just took a few more that more accurately reflect the real colours.

  2. Surprised to see my ass here. The fit wasn't good to begin with - too tight around the waist, and major flaring at the hips. After about a year of pushing them down, the waist expanded and the hips shrunk. They fit much better now.

Nowhere near as good as the RAF jeans I bought off of Asterix in the supermarket though.

In general, jeans fit better with time.

    this is a great fit.

  3. agree with braidkid... kinda why I was thinking about picking up the 864's I believe, the lower rise model. hopefully that might elliminate the diaper ass effect.

I just had a look at the 864 model on the Bear's website:

    http://item.rakuten.co.jp/bears/eternal-864/

It looks like it won't have the diaper ass effect as much as the legs are fairly straight without any hip flare. However, it is ridiculously low-rise - 2 buttons?!?!

  4. yea, those fit much better than my 811's. Isn't the bear's model slightly slimmer?

I've given up on my 811's. I'm tired of the dumpy diaper ass and high rise.

The Bear's model is slimmer than the 811. I had them altered though and they're much slimmer than they came originally. They still have the 'diaper ass' effect, but after much stretching the effect is much less than it used to be. I still don't really like the way they hang though, and the fit certainly isn't modern.

I don't wear them that much for that reason, and I tend to pick up my Raf and Julian Red jeans more often than the Eternals. I even wear my old APCs more often than these.

In fact, my next pair might be APC again (!)... still haven't found a pair that fits me perfectly with fantastic denim. I also really love the Sugarcane Okinawa

  5. I don't remember if it's been addressed, but how often did you wash those, Jooles?

I really can't remember anymore... maybe 7 or 8 washes? I think I wash them on average once every 2-3 months.

I used to wash them by hand, but the indigo is so deep that after the first few washes I decided to just throw them in the washer on a gentle cycle. Honestly though I just wash them when they get dirty or smell.

  6. Jooles, what is the little white square to the left of the patch? Mine doesn't have that.

    They're not the Eternal 811 - they're the Bear's Eternal Tiger model

It's a Bear's cloth patch that says "虎" (tiger), Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, Japan

Woo! Haven't posted on here in ages, but it's good to see some of the stuff that's being posted on here.

My Eternals have just pushed past the 1.5 year mark. Just washed them recently and will post pics up some time this week.

  8. let me guess campy?

    but srsly, sick bike.

Campaganolo without a doubt. My road bike now has an older 8-speed athena groupset. I think i'll move all the parts off of it over to the Casati and sell the frame. Don't want to make it too fancy looking because I still lock it up outside.

Can't wait to get it... steel frames are so much more comfortable on the crap roads here.

  9. I have been riding 5+ days for 10 miles every day over the last half year, and I for one am pretty happy that I can now get a pair of jeans:

    1) that won't tear because of the abrasion in the crotch

    2) are functional and meet the specific needs of cyclists

    3) for cyclists that above all, won't make me look like a damn fool

I, like many people, don't want to compromise fashion-wise when getting on a bicycle. I mean, city cyclists already have to have lights, an appropriate bag, deal with shitloads of exhaust, wear a helmet, etc.

Personally, I just wouldn't cycle every day if it were more of a hassle than it's worth. I don't want to dress like a courier, I don't want to adopt a "cycling lifestyle", and I don't want to wear spandex. Products like these will probably make the daily commute for me even easier than other options - car, bus, tube, taxi, motorbike, etc.

Kudos to you Kiya for making this happen.

    good shit.

waterloo dark and waterloo wheat are also amazing.

I lived in Toronto for a few years and have tried these beers, but the only Ontario beer that I desperately crave and wish I had is the King Brewery Pilsener - it seriously puts Pilsner Urquell and Budvar to shame. Perfect for hearty food in the winter too.

It's damn tasty... I don't known why the locals don't drink more of it, especially since it's on tap at places like C'est What.
