been going cheep:
1/4/10
1/4/10
purchased these clarks desert boots a while back. after moving to sunny california, i kind of got tired of hauling around in heavy duty boots, so i thought these would be a nice change of pace. the antique finish was a little cheesy, but figured it might get interesting with age.
so after a couple years of wear, the leather was getting nice aging, but the original crepe soles were starting to disintegrate. i decided to bring these into a no-name cobbler nearby, just for a little adventure. i had to convince the guy that there was such thing as honey vibram. and after a little back and forth, he was able to locate them.

the cobbler did a surprisingly good job, but a noob mistake. i totally forgot to tell him not to polish my boots. but i really didn't think anyone was going to try to polish an antique finish surface. i was shocked initially, but started to enjoy them.

i've been wearing these quite often. they're really easy to get in and out of, but i could wear them at places where they require a little more formal clothing than what i usually wear, too (no jeans). here are pics after a little hike near vegas:

Iwate local train hits bear, then goat
MORIOKA, Iwate Pref. — A local train in Iwate Prefecture collided with a bear Saturday morning and, after restarting, ploughed into a serow goat, East Japan Railway Co.'s Morioka office said.
No passengers were injured, but the accidents proved fatal for the two animals, the JR East office said.
The disruption to services caused two rapid trains on the line to be canceled, affecting about 220 passengers, it said.
The two-car train plowed into the bear around 7:20 a.m. inside a tunnel in Kamaishi and stopped temporarily for a safety check. After restarting, it collided 45 minutes later with the serow in Tono.

chicken, do you have any updates on your white's semi dress? I've been pretty interested in these as of late, can't seem to get enough pictures of them worn in
sorry, not really. white's are built like tanks. and especially mine with double-mid soles plus vibram half-soles. not a whole lot of change in a while.
Hey chicken did you get them resoled at Eddies in hollywood? I was actually looking for a good cobbler around LA and saw your review on yelp.oops, forgot to mention in my blog, they were done by willie's shoe service. very solid job, imo.
and thanks for more comments about the blog. slab, that's how it was for me too. jordan surprised me in many ways. was a good trip.

thanks guys. but the color shifts also have to do with the state of polish them boots had at the time, and the type of lighting/camera i used to shoot them. the last photo is quite dramatic because i shot it right after walking around everywhere, and there's a strong shadow hitting it.
evo-story behind these is fucking nice...so you always resole after your heels showing a bit sings of wear (like in nov.2007) ?...
i always used the wear as an excuse to try something different. but i went back to honey vibrams, both for comfort and function.

^damn Chicken, that is some solid wear....and I know I'm always ridin on your posts but its great to see that while some of the OG don't post as often anymore, they haven't lost their roots/interests in our little denim world!
thanks guys. it's not that i've lost interest by any means. it's just that i don't have much to post regularly. plus, i'm trying to avoid temptation into buying more stuff.
happy lurking!

oh btw, had some rocky mountain oysters the other week for the first time in my life. wasn't bad, but when you deep fry something, it becomes a little difficult to tell what exactly you're eating. so was a bit disappointed, overall. the pig ball sashimi i had in shinjuku was a far better experience.

any LA cats ever try this german hotdog spot in downtown called wurstkuche?
peep the menu - http://www.wurstkucherestaurant.com/Eat.html
i've had the alligator/pork and rattlesnake/rabbit hot dogs before. it wasn't too bad actually.
yup yup. good stuff. their rattlesnake/rabbit's my fave so far.
pretty tame imo in terms of exoticness, so it's a good place to go with a group, including people who are pretty timid about food.
beer selection's decent too.

i don't know. i think i need to see the actual video to judge if there was any wrongdoing by the officers.

hey guys,
I have ordered a rmc taxi driver 101z. The site where I have purchased those, says that those are sanforized and will only shrink 0,25inch in the waist. Can anybody confirm that please.
it's been about three months with one hot soak for me, and that sounds about right. nowhere near the shrinkage you would get from, say, evisu 2000 no.1 denim.

yup, i ripped through those cheap laces pretty quickly. so i got myself a pair of leather laces at a local shoe store while back.
yup, it was a rebuild, but my guy only charged me $60. i love finding undiscovered places. i'm definitely going back to him, but i just have to make sure now if i need a polish or not beforehand.
