hello!
knows anybody the exacly birthday of the levi's type 3 jacket ? i have read the 507xx is made between 1952-1957 ? or up to 1962 ?
i have a beautyful 557XX jacket with the "every garment guaranteed" on the patch - how old is it ? it must be one of the first type 3 jackets ...
thank you very much
cheers MIKe

hi!
sure the early collections are even better than the actually
i have 555: 551ZXX! the best one , Type 2 jacket, 2x 501XX 1955, a finished S501XX 1944, and a death valley 1890
i dont like the 20s 201 really - for me the 1937s are better - a little bit more closely cut
denim makes me poor ;+)

the tab is gone ... i have also seen japan-repro's without the circle r ! this is a original: patina on the rivet's, no numbers, it feels old, it's from ebay.com ... the best thing is: the leather patch is soft and unbroken - i love this jean :+)

you are right ! a deadstock nevada is a must have for every collector !!!
i will sleep in this + wear it every day up to my end ...
the duck pants from this year is a 1900's modell with 2 back pockets !?

sure ! your 1886's are very great ! i know i'm a loser ... i also like the "washed" jeans
the bunkhouse is my fav. for this year
wear your 1886's 20 years and they look better with every year - they are hard to find i know!
my dream is a vintage pair of levi's from before 1900 ......... ;+(
my oldest pair is from 1930's with buckleback - i love + wear it !!!!!!!!!!!

No it is not. THe oldest jeans that Levi's own are the Nevada jeans, which have the pliers poclet. THese are n 'imaginative reconstruction' of that, and certainly aren't of an older design - things like the watch pockets, and the lack of a pliers pocket, are taken from later models. Really, they're more of a loose 1890s replica...
thank you!
this is new for me
i have ordered your book :+)
i had a nevada last year and i like the arcuate ! now i have a 1886 cra with the same style of stiching - i love it ! it's a good nevada alternative
the patch was in the middle up to 1890 and than on the right side ?
the 1879 has the patch on the right side... ?
do you have pics from the calico-jean ? which year it is ?

hi paul!
at first my english is not the best please excuse...
i have seen japanese repros without the circle r on the red tab ! please look here
http://www.rakuten.co.jp/super-rag/427211/543813/
i think in 50 years it's hard to differentiate is it a heavy-used repro from 2005 or a original
what is the ultimate feature to differentiate ?? there are also repro's without number on the top button (i have see a 1955 modell) and there are originals without numbers ... there must be a "ultimate" feature/detail a stiching or anything else to differentiate
thank you very much !
regards from germany

http://www.rakuten.co.jp/frisbee/419331/1769105/
it is a reproduction of the oldest levi's known i existence
the birth of the blue jeans was 1873
the most old+popular jeans are the nevada from around 1880 - this one is older
i love the style of this 1800's models ! one pocket, buckleback, suspender buttons, etc....
