  1. I logged in today for the first time in years after hearing about sidneylo's book. Remember when video WAYWT were cool? Ahh the good old days. When sidneylo had a post count under 1000 and Self Edge first opened.

    -pruf out.

its fun riding bikes in san diego.

    e.vill doers.

that was right before the boat police rolled up on us. lol, they had time to call back up, anchor their boat, jump off, and walk over to the pier. good times in sd.

  3. hatta headset with loose balls + light grease = cash money on the track. so buttery. it sucks that you'll have to rebuild the headset quite often. i want a concept before track season starts. i really should stop smoking cigs, im going to get killed during track season. lol.

  4. +1 crillz.

i don't think mash will make any money off the dvd sales. i've watched the entire dvd twice and its pretty sweet. mike and gabe's parts were better than some parts of the movie, they should have been the in the regular movie.

their merch is another story =P

  5. This kind of shit makes me embarrassed to ride fixed...

What is the logic of buying a funnybike with a 650 front wheel and riding it on the street, much less using riser bars? Using deep drop track stems and riser bars is def dumb, but I've never seen this before. :(

RIP fixed gear biking, Im sorry the west coast killed you.

its called a pursuit bike and it's meant to go fast. if you want to go fast on the streets with fucked up wrists more power to you or you can get an upward sloping stem + 2 in risers to get a decent riding position. i saw garret from MASH kill it on his pursuit frame but he had the pursuit bullhorns. pursuit bikes just look cool.

west coast didnt kill fixed gears, everyone did - no west/east coast shit. im sure there are pursuit bikes in NYC not to mention how many people buy "fashion bikes" from trackstar and the like. if you like to ride your bike, you're cool. squash the hate, fixed gears arent dead.

nitto 90mm jaguar + 2 in risers looks fucking tight. its comfortable for cruising and if i want to pick up some speed i'll grip near the stem to be more tucked. you get the upright position when needed and you get some drop when you are near the middle. i would ride my drops more if i didnt spray adhesive my ourys on my risers, shit is a bitch to take on and off. i need another track stem!

  6. super champion looks cool, but when does a bike shop care about aesthetic details. more of a "lifestyle" store than a bike shop. i hope its a good quality shop in terms of pricing and mechanic work, otherwise it is just another hipster store. did i say the shop looks awesome, though.

  7. but thats from assholes trying to come off the curb doing jumps and shit... It's not made for street use, just track...

but yeah like someone said, just don't get decored from your open bar ends.

spinergys are made for all types of races, not just the track and they equally explode in all race formats =/. you don't need to be doing wheelies for spinergys to explode. the horror stories ive heard are of spinergies exploding during road races. i personally haven't heard of any from fixies but i'm sure there are horror stories out there from someone jumping stairs and ending up on their face due to exploding spinergy spokes. spinergy doesnt even make that wheel anymore for good reason.

mos def shouldnt bomb curbs or do too many wheelies with a spinergy, thats what an aerospoke or a composite trispoke is for (if you want to look fly).

  8. you need to bring it back to the Specialized composite tri-spoke if you were really down.

is it only rev-x carbon wheels that seems to randomly explode? any other horror stories from other carbon wheels. i personally love trispokes, but i might be too light for one if there is crosswind, i'll probably just get blown away. lol.

  9. i've heard of performance having sales on gatorskins once and a while.

i still swear by my vittoria randos. they've lasted me a month and i've only got to my second layer of rubber, no wires yet. 28 bucks a month isnt too bad, compared to gas. i would be bitching if i had to change tires every two weeks.

  10. tightening a headset isnt that hard. just make sure you have atleast one real headset wrench to tighten and hold the adjustable cup. for the top nut you can just use a regular adjustable wrench.

for the creaks, you can check sheldon browns page on the issue: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/creaks.html.

i also had the same problem and you can solve it by check your bike in this order (easiest to hardest): pedals (regrease threads and tighten), chainring bolts (regrease threads and tighten), cranks (reinstall), bottom bracket (tighten cups or rebuild and reinstall).

i was about to rebuild my bottom bracket when i realized that i hadn't checked my pedals. after tightening it up, my bike ran nice and quiet, except for the drive train. i need to get a EAI or Dura Ace cog with an izumi chain. get that shit to run silent. anyone here use the izumi model-v chain? i hear thats a bomb chain, but i'm thinking there are other, cheaper, but still silent chains out there.

the quest for the silent bike!

  11. Change of subject; any NY riders planning on riding all the way through the winter? I really want to. Am I crazy? I figure a snowboard jacket with pit-zips would do the trick. Like a Holden jacket or something.

those holden jackets look amazing. i'll have to check them out next time in carlsbad.

  12. my friend got his mercier the other day too. damn that is one UGLY ass stem and was your headset a little tight? we loosened it, but it still feels/sounds like shit. i guess we'll rebuild it with some proper phil's grease, it sounded a little dry.

sick bike, though. he got a 53 and i can ride it pretty well and i ride a 52cm (with a 30 inseam!) on my nishiki conversion. i wish i had a 50 though, but what ever - it fits and its not big deal, i just have my risers sweep back a little bit.

+1 for the mercier kilo TT.

change the stem and rebuild the headset = good deal for 350 usd.
