  1. In my opinion, the parts make the bike over the frame. I mean, as long as the frame isn't falling apart and fits you and you're ok with the weight, I don't see why you'd need a new one.

    agreed (mostly).

alot of power is lot on my khs (the same as the kilo) because it's kind of flexy. but at the end of the day, i love it enough that i want to spoil it with nice parts.

  2. What are some good options for threadless stems that don't look balls? I really like the harsh angle that quills give a guy....

Help a guy out, pics and links appreciated.

get a thomson x2, flip it, and call it a day.

the FSA vision stem looks pretty good, too.

  3. yep, i was running 48/16 for a bit and it pretty much killed my knees and quads.

like dude said, try 48/18 or 47/18, i think its funner to spin anyway, and you can pretty much whip that shit around.

  4. Shit's so gangster so-so double posted.

So, my legs are spent from going through the bridge like 3 roundtrips this weekend. Should I rest and let my muscle build up or look into getting into an easier gear for me to work with? My last round trip today was brutal... was close to getting off and walking up the incline. >.>

    what is your gearing anyway?

  5. i've been sitting on some 27s for a bit and apparently i've lost weight since i purchased 'em.

they've only had one day of wear on them, so there's no fading and the creases aren't really set.

i will take offers on anybody trying to buy them, but i prefer a trade.

    thanks.

  6. wish i knew about the toshi deal earlier, but since it seems unlikely i guess i'm glad i picked up some doublestraps. the soma ones, but still double.

you should jump on the toshi buy, anyway.

you're going to be replacing those soma's reeeeeeeaaaaaaalllll soon.

  7. I am trying to get something a little bit more oldschool looking. Something classic looking and in silver.

    sugino rd2's are reasonably priced.

if you had the cash, i'd spring for the 75s as recommended earlier though.

  8. is it a california state law that bikes can use an entire lane or is that only in some cities like SF.

    that shit's legal.

people, especially in the burbs, aren't used to bikes outside of the sidewalk, let alone ones that actually take the lane.

  9. I'm 16 and I'm pulling in $10 an hour sitting on my ass eating vegetables and listening to bmore at Safeway.

    they play b'more at safeway?

that shit completely distracted me from the point of this thread.

  10. but why you would want a bike that shifts automatically is just beyond me.

the same reason why i like my bike that doesn't allow me to coast. because it's fun.

granted, riding bikes is fun period, but my experience on the lime was novel and fun enough for me to recommend it, which is what the dude was asking for in the first place.

if i had known he had his mind set on fixed gear already and was just asking for recommendations for entry level track bikes, i would have just cosigned on the IRO.

  11. those things are really ugly.. and why would you want a bike to shift automatically?

dude's just going to be going around the campus.

i know this thread is real fixed-centric right now, but it's okay to give him some alternatives.

from the sound of his post, it's not like he knows much about bikes either, so he might as well make it easy for himself and get something fun, easy to ride and low maintenance.

  12. performance bikes has a crazy sale going on right now.

i stocked up on tubes and tires.

also, why bother putting an aerospoke on a conversion? just spend that money on a well built wheelset with decent hubs.
