  1. Couldnt get the images to load so pls check the pics on my flickr page...

I bought these frames in NYC at the Moscot store not too long ago, got home and the gf decided she didnt like them so now I have to sell them... Never wore them except for trying them on, still have the demo lenses in, they are in perfect condition. Comes with everything you see, I bought them for $149.00, Im asking $129. Good as eyeglasses or get them fitted for sunglasses - they look great with a green tinted lens that way...

The Duffer of St. George jacket is lightly used, I bought it in the UK for $220, so Im asking $110. 50% right? No evident signs of wear.

Nice quality stitching on the inside of the jacket...

  2. So im going to drive from Washington Dc to Indiana and then later, from DC to Charlotte, NC. I need some new sneakers and was wondering if there were any shoe factories that you guys know of near these places/along the way. I dont have $ for expensive boutiques at the moment so pls dont suggest that. Im more interested in factories and then maybe an attached store where I could get the stuff for cheap. I dont care if the stuff is generic, so much the better! Any recommendations would be really appreciated!

  3. this thread is jokes. 90% of the recommendations arent even electro...

Yeah i didnt want to be the one to say it but electro is not the same as saying any electronic music- its a distinct style. So, a lot of the recommendations were solid - good places to start - but def not all were electro. If you want to get into an style of electronic www.boomkat.com is a good place to start. Its an online record store with ok recommendations but the best part is that you can listen to all the tracks to decide what you like. That reference to check out the Kompakt label was right on, they do a lot of different compilations that are very well respected and can help you develop an ear for electronic music. If youre looking to get into more classic stuff, I cant believe Isolee's "We Are Monster" wasnt mentioned (or not that I saw...). Prob one of my fav electronic albums of all time. Also, Ive been trying to get Gui Boratto's "Chromophobia", I dled a few tracks and its def a great album. That said almost all electronic music should be consumed in single format - this is a style that does not generally lend itself well to albums. Warp is also a CLASSIC label (Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, etc) although they seem to becoming more indie rock lately. Its known for releasing more headphone friendly stuff then dancefloor oriented tracks.

  4. FYI - I found what I was looking for - American Essentials boxer briefs. High quality, no labels (that i can see) The elasticated area on the underwear isnt cheap looking hanes style elastic either, it has a more finished look - these should be perfect...

  5. the aa boxer briefs are so gross looking to me, what were they thinking??? I dont think that highly of aa really - anyone that looks to the 70s for most of their style cues has some serious issues. and y no fly in the front are you supposed to pull your knickers down to take a leak like youre a little boy again???

  6. agreed

and patagonia capilene boxers are amazinG!

See that looks more like what im looking for - how do those fit? Are they fairly tight? Or are they more loose like a boxer?

EDIT: Good call on the Jockeys btw - im def liking what I see. Thanks!

  7. I wear AA briefs in xs and wear them really low. If you wear them pulled up they look disgusting.

AA does boxer briefs now too, I don't like them though.

I do agree with the above comment; To the average woman, wearing big name designer underwear is impressiveeeeeeeeee.

Im not into advertising what brands Im wearing and if a girl can only get into me bc Im wearing versace knickers than thats prob the best. I have no time for people like that (but those types of girls are hot - i just cant keep them so Ive said fuck it)

Anyways, I want some nice quality boxer briefs that are pretty tight and have NO label on the band. I liked how the 2xist ones look except for that band - its looks too athletic for my style. Anyone know of a good brand (ie not generics from costco, etc) that dont have the logo? Uniqlo is not an option as I dont live in NYC and Im not asking a friend to pick me up some underwear :)

  8. I used to live in Cardiff (capital city of Wales) Unless youre going into the countryside, there is really no other place worth going to in Wales... You might like shopping at Drooghi in one of the arcades on St. Mary's St. there. Also, try going out at the Buffalo Bar, that place was really cool, very chilled out lounge/club vibe and some of the better looking people in Cardiff if youre into artsy/hipster types that arent poor students. If you just want to get laid, basically go to any other bar in Cardiff - there are so many way to drunk slags. Not my thing but knock yourself out. If youre into quirky stuff, you should try and see if Jacob's Market is open, its a 2 or 3 story antique shop behind the train station. Coffee is also outstanding at Atlantic Coffee and its a few yards away from Drooghi - I was in love with this beautiful portugese woman there, she makes the best espresso. If youre in Cathays, eat lunch at the Cathays community centre - cheap and some of the best food in the city. Madame Fromage is also good for lunch (get quiche) and right across the street from Atlantic Coffee. Finally, if youre into the arts scene Chapter is a great place to see an art house film or drink beer amongst the welsh intelligentsia. Hmmm, there is some other good stuff, but that is all the essential Cardiff info.

  9. This is kind of exterior + interior but I like Prada's store in Minami-Aoyama. I wouldn't buy anything there but the whole building gives off this harvest yellow-tinted Jetsons vibe. I like CDG down the street from there too, the interior is nicely done.

The Paul Smith stores around the world are similarly done; I wouldn't mind having an interior like that in a smoking room/library. I'd have a room to myself to keep curios and books, and I'd just smoke cigars and drink whiskey all day while listening to vinyls.

Yeah that prada building is AMAZING. I think Rem Koolhaus did the architecture on that one. Good call!

  10. this is like in 94 when warner brothers released dookie by green day and a multinational company waterdowned and "killed" punk.

12 years later, I see a kid with a mohawk walking down the street, so i guess punk is still alive.

it's not so much your ideals that bother me, its the ownership and exclusivity that you seem to take. these threads have been popping up a lot recently, and some sort of textbook philosophical rant follows, but at the end of the day, the same thing happens, life goes on, and clothes are fucking clothes. The entire world does not revolve around the way you dress and if Gap sold selvedge jeans, so even for your sake, why get upset about it.

I dont disagree with you really - I mean I guess I could argue about the authenticity of modern punks - but whatever. I'm not trying to "take ownership", I was saying that I appreciate authenticity. Metaphor: Grime - shit was hot a few years ago. The scene was vibrant and underground (but not vibrant because it was underground, Im not saying that). I was in love with the raw, spare production of the music. Then, crews like Roll Deep starting getting signed by major labels and there was pressure to take that "straight out of fruity loops and a playstation" production and bring it to a major studio and make it sound NICE. Now the stuff sounds great and the scene may have benefited from the exposure (or it may not have), but the qualities I liked in the music - the anger, the production of the music that reflected the artist's social status (ie no money for proper studio time, so they improvised, like the dub scene in Jamaica a few decades ago) all of that has been changed slightly because of the standards held by the major labels. I LIKE how the new stuff sounds, it is better sounding music and more cohesive and Im not saying that anyone sold out. All I saying is that SOMETIMES commercialization alters the characteristics of the subcultures or trends that it is trying to sell. Look how many qualifiers are in the above message guys, this is not a radical, blanket statement. Even if you disagree with me on the denim point, I think you can at least seem some sort of validity in the point Im trying to make. Or not...

    Let the shit talking re-commence...

  11. right. and bitches are known by thier bitching about things they cant control.. in western culture.

clothes should express who you are, but alot of people try to make themselves something by thier clothing.

if you are willing to change how you dress because it is cathing on in the mainstream, youre no better than the trend hoppers... youre just hopping on a different trend.

Spend a little less time shopping or on the internet and read buddy, it does wonders ;) Who knows, your preteen logic may develop yet!

  12. gap has probably been making jeans longer than you've been born, stop acting so special.
Wtf? I was talking about commercialization in general, not just stupid selvedge. I thought I made that clear when I said that I wasnt even very into denim. Let me clarify for you - businesses exist to make money and in the course of doing that they tend to (not always) oversimplify, dumb down, do whatever to a commodity to make it more palatable to a mass market so it can make money. Obviously you could provide a very valid counterpoint and we could delve into the minutae of economic theory and supply and demand markets but thats hardly the point and would be quite boring. Im saying that I find myself a bit disgusted at trends such as this and I thought the mass marketing of selvedge denim could be an example of a multinational firm exploiting the positive connotations associated with a premium product such as selvedge denim and using it to make money while not maintaining a level of quality usually associated with the product. If you feel like thats being insecure, I disagree but whatever guys, just dont get personal and say Im acting special or some other bullshit like that.

PS To the above, who said they dont get a sense of identity or uniqueness from their sense of style that is such a load of shit - clothes are signifiers of status, subculture, conformity and deviance and are universally understood to operate as such in western culture.

  14. Ok, im prob the person least interested in denim on this site but it irritates me to see this bc Im a purist and I hate seeing good things that are truly appreciated by some become debased through becoming popularized by/for the mass market. It cheapens an experience that used to be fulfilling (not saying denim entirely fits the bill here, IM talking about the process) so its ok to be pissed off by this. It will really get to me when Common and Madonna start rapping about selvedge with Fergie (who looks like a tranny) belly dancing in the background.

  15. god damn this sale is the best shopping experience ive had since those beginning of the year sales in paris last year. I got a $310 soft leather briefcase from Surface to Air for $160 today and a few days ago got some amazing coop brand balck leather shoes that were $185 for $125. I was going to splurge for the $400 APC blazer for $230 but decided to see if the price owuld drop bc the fit wasnt exactly perfect, which it should be for that price. I love this sale!

  16. DONT MOVE TO BIRMINGHAM! It sucks shit (unless you like blighted modernist urban redevelopment, gun violence and ethnic tension) . Brighton is so much better why would you leave? That said, the last time I was there Selfridges was good and all of the stuff down by the custard factory is pretty cool.

  17. dont get the wayfarers man theyre too obvious. I got a version of them off overstock.com they were versace and end up being like

40 bucks. Similar style but when I walk by someone wearing wayfarers Im safe in the knowledge that Im not wearing the exact same shades.
