  1. I checked out the Rugby raw selvage a couple weeks ago. The denim is pretty nice...it could be the same as the RRLs, in fact...but there is no comparison on the details.

To me, if you're gonna live in a pair of jeans for like a year, you're crazy to get the Rugby ones when you know a much nicer version is out there.

  2. does anyone else think drunk & hot girls could of been a new eminem song.

    which is a bad thing.

Tragic, for both Mr. West and Mr. Mathers (ok, much more for him)...yet so true.

  3. The only question is...how do you "discover" someone like T-Pain? I'm convinced you or I, or anyone else, could do exactly what he does...sing crappily and then electronically alter it.

As for the 9th Wonder references...I was actually talking about the song "Big Brother" off Graduation. But I pretty much agree...Little Brother has never really impressed me as much as they seem to impress some other people, lyrically.

  4. He did better with "Homecoming" than he did with the trashed-up version of "Hey Mama" he put on Late Registration.

I actually like "Big Brother" for what it is ("Last Call" part 2).

T-Pain IS a genius. The dude figured out how to make millions of dollars as a singer with pretty much zero singing ability. He's a clown, but I can admit that some of his songs are catchy.

"Flashing Lights", "Everything I Am", and "Good Morning" are favorites at first listen. "Drunk and Hot Girls" is easily my least favorite song.

  5. On my campus I have seen probably 4 people wearing Nudies, 1 person wearing SDA (which I sold to them), 1 person wearing APC (which i told him to get) and 4 people wearing raw Levi's. I have never seen a pair of Japanese jeans except the ones hanging in my closet.

So, including yourself, there are just 11 people on your campus who are wearing jeans that most people on here would consider to be of reasonable quality. And you think that someone will even notice, based on the branding, if you're wearing Samurais versus Nudies?

People should wear what they want to wear and not worry about whether or not too many other people are wearing the brand.I see plenty of Japanese brands that most would rank above Nudie on here that don't really do anything for me, but I don't feel the need to go piss on other people's choices.

  6. I thought all of the new ones were selvedge, but I could be wrong...I vaguely recall seeing a non-selvedge pair, but they were hideous anyway...not something people here would wear, selvedge or not.

Tried on some of the "Slim Bootcut" on last week...I don't know if it's because I was trying on a size too small, but they seemed very slim to me, and didn't seem to have too much of a boot cut. Does anyone know if they changed the cuts at all with this new roll-out?

  7. The wash is "2nd Hand", which is a lighter one...a nice changeup from dark denim going into the spring/summer. Bought these for $230 a while ago from a boutique here in Atlanta. They don't really fit me like they did when I bought them, so I'm looking to sell.

Again, new with tags attached. Can put up pictures if you'd like. Paypal only please...

    $200 shipped.

  8. Earnest Sewns always seem so thin to me. I own a pair and they are very soft, but so thin. They don't seem to go on sale a whole lot, so if you're pushing $200 you could probably get something nicer.

Paper Denim, like someone said, has pretty decent denim, but some of the cuts and fades are nasty. They're always on sale...can find em in the low 100's range a lot.

IIRC the original designer for PD&C went and started ES, so they are very similar in styling.

  9. I got the same pair as the one in the auction and just to tell you, if you're not really into the baggy look do not get that pair of jeans. I prefer my jeans not to be slim fit so it didnt really matter for me (plus i got it for 9.74 at a polo outlet store the last pair too lol :D).

Really? I have a pair of RRL Straight cut. I like everything about them, but I'd prefer a little bigger opening at the bottom. They're really not so "slim" of a bootcut, huh?

  10. Thanks for the advice guys...

Don't mean to beat this to death, but I contacted the seller to ask about selvage and she doesn't really know a whole lot about it...

Have you guys seen ones like these before:

    ...and are they selvage?

I know some on here don't like washes at all, but this one isn't too extreme and will look fine with normal wear, IMO. Plus, the washed ones are drop-in-the-bucket cheap versus the raw where you have to actually think before you buy. :)

  11. How does the sizing on the slim bootcut compare to the straight leg? I'm thinking of buying a pair of slim bootcut off eBay, but want to make sure I get the right size. Also, are the slim bootcut selvage, and do they make raw ones? The only ones I see are pre-distressed.

  12. Bought a pair of dry straight leg the other day. I'm not really used to wearing anything but bootcut, so having the narrower leg opening is kind of weird. Gotta get some shoes that look right with them.

I wouldn't say they're incredibly tapered. I tried some on in the store in Chicago that were basically leggings, though...maybe those were the "slim straight" some of you are talking about. Are "slim straight" and "straight" two different cuts?

  13. Electric razors seem like a great idea...quick shave any time, no buying blades, "less irritation". But in reality, you have to press hard and go over and over the same area to get anything close to a good shave, so it irritates even more. I had this image of using the electric real quickly and running out the door...but after you grind that thing across your face 5 times you want to take a shower anyway.

The Art of Shaving is great.

I use the pre-shave oil, badger brush, shaving cream, and aftershave, along with some of the Ingrown Hair Cream at night...and it does way, way better than a normal shave with off-the-shelf products and a shave with an electric razor.

Some people might say it's a waste of time and money, and it is in a way...if I could get away with using Barbasol and a Bic razor I would love it...but if the choice is spending some money and getting a good shave with no irritation or saving money and looking like crap, I'll spend the money.

  14. The quality is not incredible, but it's not crap either.

Really love the fit, looks good and is comfortable.

You might be able to find better quality given the price (but I got mine for $140 NWT on eBay), but I mainly got them because they're different from what I have already.

  15. Quote: if you drop down 3 sizes, you literally need to deconstruct the jeans and put them back together again with smaller measurements. at this point its better to just buy new jeans.

I will second this. I had my jeans taken in at the waist a few months ago, and the seat is totally messed up now. I took them around to several quality tailors, who told me that basically what they'd have to do is take apart the vertical seam down to the crotch, and restitch it. They said it was doable, but matching the threading is very difficult as is doing the double-stich down the seam (apparently doing it right requires a special sewing machine...not sure why, but I've heard this from several people).

Basically the response was "we can give it a shot, but there are no guarantees how they'll turn out, you'd probably be better off just getting a new pair of jeans".

If someone has found somewhere that can do this, kudos...but personally I will never try it again.

  16. Have you guys ever experienced success in having jeans taken in? The only time I've ever had it done, I had a tailor take the jeans in about 1", but ended up with some really strange bagginess in the seat due to the rigidity of the pockets. I took the pants to another tailor, and he said that to fix the way the seat looks they would have to basically rip apart the seam in that area and sew them together again. Am I just going to a bad tailor, or are my options this limited?

I run into problems with sizing a lot, because I'm really into weight lifting. My thighs are too big for 36s to be comfortable, but if I wear 38s I always have to have a belt tightened and sometimes it looks weird. Basically my waist is a 36 but nothing else is.

I just bought a pair of Earnest Sewn Fultons that are 38s...the fit around the waist is pretty good now, but I'm worried that when I wear them they'll stretch out a lot and I'll basically have to shelve them.

  18. Quote: It also depends on where you're hanging/who with.

Agreed...what's played out in one place might not be played out elsewhere. In Atlanta and Cleveland I see relatively few people wearing Diesels.

I'm hot and cold on Diesel jeans...it all depends on the wash. My buddy has some from a couple years ago that have this wash that makes them look striped...I don't like those at all. I also am not personally a big fan of the really dark ones with a greenish tint. But the more normal-looking distressed washes are pretty nice looking to me.

Bottom line for me is Diesel-style washes are like pretty much everything else in the clothing world: wear it too often, you look like a douchebag. Nothing wrong with having a couple pairs of jeans in your wardrobe with a flashy wash, as long as you have some other options.
